As you don't need this blog to find out, we posted the 2nd annual kindo What Child Is This. Merry Christmas! Hopefully, this will not be the last Christmas post either.

In interesting news, I (steve) for the first time in my life have written and recorded songs. Nothing like what we do here in Kindo land, just a very humble personal experiment for myself. I've always wanted to try and write songs/lyrics that I sing. Lyrics and vocals have always been my weakness, which prompted me to challenge myself and have the experience. As I said, its a new venture for me and I proceed knowing that this is not where my strength is; though I honestly had a blast doing it.
In related news, Jeff Martin (singer, this day & age) also wrote some songs. We realized that we had both been working on stuff simultaneously, so we figured it'd be fun to release them on the same album.

Check the page out..

In the final news, I'm trying to hurry up and finish this blog so that we can start checking levels for some recording/videos that we're about to do and share with you. If you find yourself being a pleased listener of Kindo, this should prove to be an exciting, exciting next few months. Thank you guys! Merry merry!!

Current mood:  optimistic
To celebrate, I have posted the annual Kindo tradition of 'O Holy Night'. This will not be the first christmas post!

So we have spent the last few days in the studio. Finally, we are making real progress on everything. We are pretty thrilled with the new music. Prettty, prettttty, pretttty thrilled. I cannot WAIT to share it. Its definitely the route we wanted to take; in almost the same fashion that this band started, we went from briefly considering changing the writing approach into more 'accessibility' to at the last second somehow convincing ourselves that only stepping it up from the ep and full length would suffice. And musically, I personally couldn't have imagined a better result.
So, loyal friends, once again your job is going to be to continue to spread the word on the new music (if it turns out to be to your liking, of course). I'm pretttty prettty prettty certain that this combined with the new collaboration between the Kindo morons and Candyrat Records will lead to fun for all.

In other important news:
-Shadow of the Colossus...anybody play it? thoughts?

-Japan was indescribably incredible. Absurdly incredible. Endless thanks to Daisuke, Mari, Ako, TLKY, and everybody else we saw and met and got to know. We can't wait to be back.

-Played the new Mario at Mikes. Pretty great.

-Am about to finish LOTR Return of the King... to whoever it was that told me these books were not good: leave me alone forever.

-We found water on the moon. This basically proves that there are aliens. Which is one step closer to proving that Perelandra exists as described by Mr. Lewis.

-Our friend Trevor Gordon Hall just released his Christmas Album...oh.. my.. goodness. I'm not even kidding, go to itunes and preview it for yourself. Then buy it. Twice.

Friends, it is late and I'm tired. Thank you all so much for the continued support.

Steven

I will leave you with the words of kermit:

Tis the season to be jolly and joyous
With a burst of pleasure we feel it arrive
It's the season when the Saints can employ us
To spread the news about peace and to keep love alive

Hey Friends!

We are getting very excited as we prepare to leave the USA for blessed Japan.  We are playing only a few dates over there, but are glad to finally perform for all of our Japanese fans.

We have been busy writing the new record and are preparing to film some live studio performances of both old and new material in the coming months.  We miss touring, but hopefully it won't be long before we can hit that road again.

Fall is here.  My favorite season.

Thanks for listening to and sharing our music, folks!

hello all,

SO. i know it seems like we've been slowly disappearing for a while. this is not the case.

after a time of going back and forth with people and trying to decide what possible step there was for this band other than breaking up, we are very, very excited to announce that we have officially signed with CANDYRAT RECORDS.

some of you will recognize the name from having seen musicians like andy mckee, antoine dufour, or any other one of their superbly talented roster on youtube.

www.youtube.com/candyrat

seriously, check some of the stuff out. we plan on having an ep out sometime in early to mid november, with a full length following soon after. basically what we did on 111.

which of course brings me to mention and emphasize how important 111 has been to the life of kindo, how grateful we are to them, how fantastic of a label they are and how honored we are to have had such a good relationship with them. we continue to be friends and supporters of the label, and Candyrat is extremely eager to push and promote the 111 albums just as much as our new music.

so yea. thats whats up. we are going to start recording some of the new music soon (we are very, very happy with how it is coming out). you'll be seeing new videos and all that good stuff. aaaaaand yep. :) hope this finds everyone well..even though that is unfortunately and physically impossible.

love,
the reign of the water temple and how it is so annoying to have to keep switching the water level every time you want to do the smallest thing.

Our bestest bud Jeff Martin will be playing some shows acoustically and it would please us very much if you supported him when/if he plays in your city.

Jeff would also like all reply's about this to be sent to jeffmartin@111records.com. Do not reply here for no response will be given and you will be destroyed.

Also, they are some very cool things that have happened to The Reign of Kindo lately. We will update you all very soon!

Jeff writes.......

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, hello; How are you?

So as it turns out, I still like music… I might even love it.
Believe it or not, I still like the songs that I sang when I was in a band called this day and age.

So here is the plan:

I (jeff martin) am planning on playing 8 or 10 or 12 solo/acoustic shows in the fall (as thisdayandage).. this day and age is not reuniting; this is simply for fun, for those of you who love(d) our band, who started enjoying our music  after we parted ways, and who thought our sets were not a balanced mix of “always leave the ground” / “bell and hammer” songs.. for these shows, I want YOU to help create the set each night.. I will do my best to play any song from either of our albums…. this will be great and exciting and adventurous, don’t you think?

You could even begin emailing me ( HYPERLINK "mailto:jeffmartin@111records.com" jeffmartin@111records.com) your ideas of a “perfect” TDAA set list as well as what cities I should come to.. We could be friends (maybe we already are).. the goal is for you to be singing just as much as I am at these shows. (oh and also let me know what cover song(s) I should do).

I hope this letter finds you well, and I sincerely hope you will attend these special shows. maybe you and your friends could plan a road trip, because I’m not sure that there will be anything like this to follow.

It would be quite helpful if you could spread the word. dust off your thisdayandage albums and let’s make these shows memorable… the idea of this is literally for you (and completely pointless without you).. I will see you soon.

PS: the other guys (who were in thisdayandage) are still alive and well and my best friends.. they are (present tense) in an incredible band called the reign of kindo. Please support them.

Much love,
(jeff)

PPS: I just finished recording four songs.. I’m excited to share them; they will be available at these shows.

Hey everyone,
Hope that you are all well. A couple quick things:

Ever wanted to own a Reign of Kindo hoodie?? Well, the first piece of news is that the new Kindo hoodie is available at 111store.com.

Also:

"111 Records is offering some crazy deals on old This Day & Age CDs. You can buy a brand new box of 30 of the last TDA album direct from 111 Records for only $30 and sell each copy to your friends and family for as much as you want. If you sold each disc for $5, you would profit $120! If you sold each for $10, you would profit $270!

We are starting with just one box to gauge the interest level but we have hundreds (of boxes) available. If we're not quick enough to make more boxes available on eBay, please email us at info@111records.com. Oh and shipping is FREE!

Thanks guys.

HOME.

the tour taught us a lot.  in a good way.  we are home with a new focus and determination.

we of course, like always, are so incredibly grateful to all of the people that came to the shows... the support is invaluable. we spoke to and met with as many of you as we could, and honestly, it was an honor.

to increase the friendcount and good times for our future concerts, we have a request.
we ask...we plead...we beseech you all, if you like our music, if it is even remotely in the smallest way important to you:

please share us.

play it in the car for friends, play it for family, play it for enemies...it really is what will allow us to continue to make more music. which we would love, love to do.

last thing for now, if you are lucky enough to be from the buffalo area, we'd love to see you out at club w on delaware this friday the 13th, where we will be playing with our good friends more than me in celebration of the release of their new ep, which was co-produced by our own joe.

thanks again, everyone.

-kindo

Current mood:  hopeful
Hey all,

We leave for tour on Friday!! Yep, this Friday. I hope that by reading this you become aware. I hope that by being aware you look at the dates. I hope that upon seeing a date that is close to you, you will recruit at the very least 400 people to come join you at that venue for a fun and candy-filled evening with the kindo gentlemen. There is a lot of hope here, it is up to you to not shatter it.

As for the new song, it will be up soon. It is actually our Japanese bonus track that our wonderful label in Japan gave us permission to share with you Americans for a short while. Maybe THEN you'll look at our dates.

Thanks friends, hope to see you VERY SOON!!!
