Current mood:  thankful

I've had the pre-release tracks from Tales From the Earth up for a few week and I am gratified by how many people have been listening. The release date for the album on Ota Records is October 2009. It should be all over the web for downloads and purchase including my webpage

http://www.jazzfluteweinstein.com.

I tell the story of how it was recorded in my main blog.

There is a link to an earlier blog where I tell a great story about the recording. I hope you will all check it out. And thanks for listening to my music.

I started a blog at http://jazzfluteweinstein.blogspot.com/ almost a month ago telling the story of how I started to play flute at 34 and the ups and downs of over 30 years trying to succeed as a jazz flutist. I have lots of stories, as do most musicians. So if you like musician stories check it out. Let me know what you think,

I posted three videos from a concert I did in 1999 with Paul Meyers. The recorded sound is marginal and my sound reflects that period in my playing before I started to work on developing a decent flute flute sound. I am a bit nervous about putting them up, but there are so few videos my me playing that I felt I had to. Let me know what you think,

I've been recording like crazy, check out the photos to see the sessions and the musicians. Three albums this Spring, a standards based Brazilian jazz album, with Kenny Barron, a wild album with some young Cuban monsters and a Tango album with some amazing Argentinian musicians. My straight ahead album, Straight, No Chaser, on Jazzheads, with Dave Stryker, Victor Lewis and Ed Howard has a release date of June 5th and we are starting a serious radio and press campaign. Jazzheads will be releasing Lua e Sol, a Brazilian jazz record I recorded last year with Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta and Cyro Baptista in October.

After recording Latin jazz for the last few years Jazzheads, my record company, and myself decided that I should record a straight-ahead album. Straight, No Chaser is the result. Dave Stryker, who played guitar and co-produced the album with me, got me a great rhythm team, Victor Lewis on drums and Ed Howard on bass. It was great fun to play bebop again and Dave's originals added an nice 60's almost folk jazz flavor to the mix. I've been very busy recording and will be moving back to Brazilian jazz with my next release, Lua e Sol with Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta and Cyro Baptista.
