Ladies and gentlemen, hipster kids, and associates, this our lords year two thousand and nine brings back a Canberra institution, Gangbusters.

Birds Love Fighting bear the fruits necessary to open wide Bar 32's birthing doors to foster more great music for the Canberra kids, and this year will see the return of original unfathomable acts dedicated to showing you what is really going on.

As a purpose of choice Gangbusters is the first Thursday of each month, and there will be quality over quantity with three bands taking the floor in the new format - DJs will open the night with great influential music, followed by two support bands and one headline act. The DJ's will continue to spin throughout the night at any given chance.

There will be a major focus on gathering amazing interstate bands to headline or support local acts this year, with the intent on keeping the music at a low $5 entry.

The first Gangbusters for the year will be an all local line up with headliners Voss, a Fender blending alternative country look with a highly colonial musical theme. To kick things off at the start of the night however will be Cat Cat, psych rockers that will have you more than tapping and whirling about, following them will be Also From Tokyo, who sell it like hot cakes with their jazz improv influenced rock.

As a teaser we may have lined up The Stabs and Deaf Wish in May, so keep your eyes and ears on that development, The Stabs recently played All Tomorrows Parties on top of Mt Buller.

Become online friends with Gangbusters and don't miss out this year.

That's right, Gangbusters at Bar 32 has now gone weekly, still $5 for all interstate and local bands, $10 for international acts.

DJs will spin you into the early morning after the hour of midnight.

Check our gig guide for who's playing next week!

Hello!

An update on the Bar 32 upstairs room, it will now be open to you all from 10:30pm - 2:00am starting from Thursday 24 April.

It's a great place to chill out without being blasted by the bands down stairs, and will mean you won't have to loiter outside in the cold (unless you smoke then you'll have to bear the cold).

I believe this will mean that the bar will be open upstairs by a Bar 32 staff member with a limited range of booze.

Hope to see you up there having a good old time.

Hey ya’ll,

We like good news. And this is possibly news that made me happy. An intimate upstairs area has now re-opened at Bar 32.

It has been renovated to contain a small area for a DJ/small band or acoustic act, and a small bar that will serve yer basic drinks.

Although this area is now available on most nights, depending on the bar staff or the Gangbusters crew it may be closed as a ’green room’ for touring bands or only open at a particular time.

See you at the next Gangbusters you crazy kids!
