Dear Fans of Zoogma,

I am writing to you today to say farewell. I am stepping down from my position as bassist and moving on to other musical endeavors. I can't leave without expressing my gratitude to you all. The past year has been nothing short of spectacular and it was because you supported us. All the shows and late-night parties, they are each unforgettable. We would be nowhere without you, and I wanted to say THANK YOU ALL!

This decision was very difficult for me to make. I know that Zoogma is something special. Justin, Matt, Preston, Brock, Barrett... it has been an honor playing with you guys. We've come a long way! I've never performed with more talented artists in my life. Thanks for the support and knowledge you've shown me. I'll never forget this! I wish you all the best in the future.

Please support Zoogma in this upcoming year. I am going to greatly miss you all. Keep on raging it. To new beginnings in 2009!

Much Love,

J-Ball

Greetings friends,

We've been having an enjoyable summer and hope you have too. We have been working a lot and here is a rundown of what has been happenin'.  In May we started off with a run of shows around the south.  We went to Jackson, MS and played at Martins, where we met some newly enthused fans as well as saw a bunch of old friends.  The next night we stopped by Bennies Boom Boom Room, in Hattiesburg, where we met some really great people who are now a part of the Zoogma family.  The following night we headed north to Memphis where we co-billed with our good friends Energy D at the Hi-Tone.  In June we had a three-night stay in New Orleans where we met up with with Gravity-A at the Hi-Ho Lounge, and two nights later played to an intimate audience at Banks Street Bar.

Throughout these shows we began experimenting with our new light rig, which is currently being operated by Barrett O'Donnell. We are continually adding on and changing the way you, our audiences, will be captivated.  Barrett has been working with these lights for a while and is starting to get a really unique concept of how our shows can be made different and optically entertaining, while we do the same in an auditory capacity.

We then buckled down and began preparing to make some studio cuts for a quality demo, which you can listen to on MySpace.  We hired the masterful Tom Queyja to record and produce the 3 track demo in his studio, The Lip, and came out with what we think is a nice blend of 3 tracks that showcase a variety of what we do.  We dipped into the electronic realm, then focused on a more instrumental and jazzy side, and then a collaboration of it all.  "Primary Colors" and "Hurry Up and Wait" were written this summer, so most of our Oxford friends might not have had a chance to witness them, as well as some even newer tunes, live.

We want to thank Tom again for his guidance, input, and most of all his skill in the studio and behind the board. His professionalism definitely shows in the recordings.

We closed down the Farmhouse, with a free-for-all that was mentioned on Fox News' website, and invited Nashville's Moon Taxi, who blew the dust off the rafters in that evil lair of silliness. Then Zoogma blasted off from the moon out to the nether regions of a black hole far beyond our solar system.  That was another great night and the farmhouse will be missed by all of us dearly.  We have all had some crazy times at the Farmhouse, but most of all we came together out there.  Some of the more special moments we have had as a band spawned from that old wooden room. All of you who were there made it all the more special.

Towards the end of July, we made a stopped at a festival near Atlanta, known as the Southern Social Experiment.  It was undoubtedly an experience. We played a lively set as the sun was falling and had a great time with our friends.  Our old buddy Will Faulconer made the trip over to Cedartown and laid down the hand slaps on the percussions once again. We miss ya, kid.

And lastly, we finally got our own website up and running, www.zoogma.net. We will try to keep it as up to date as possible for the latest news regarding Zoogma.

We have a few gigs scheduled in Oxford for the ever approaching school year and we are set to go on the road at the end of August to conquer new territory.  We are trying to do more than just make music, we are trying to create a memorable experience and bring like-minded people together.

No worries.  We'll see ya out there.

Forging elements of funk, jazz, livetronica, world, and rock, Zoogma is a band with a vision. Coming straight out of Oxford, Mississippi, Zoogma is the offspring of five musicians with a desire to bring a fresh and inventive sound to the forefront of their live shows and to the ears of their listeners. After an impromptu jam session during the fall of 2007, the five members of Zoogma knew that there was something special behind the notes that came to life that day. Holding a shared belief that the local music scene in Oxford was in need of something new, and realizing the potential of their abilities, Zoogma played a very successful first gig in November, which left many in attendance stunned and exhilarated by the beast of sound that was unleashed that night. Riding the wake of praise, Zoogma is putting together its schedule for 2008 which is sure to leave a lasting impression and make Zoogma into a force to be reckoned with...

To my Zoogma family and friends,

As some of you may know Friday April 25th was my last official show with Zoogma. My college career has finally come to an end and I have made the decision to move back to Virginia to start a new chapter in my life. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, and I can not put into words how deeply I am going miss this. I can honestly say that the past 7 months have been some of the best times that I have ever had. The relationships I have made with each member of this band, the groovy times we have shared, the music that we have created, and the reception that we have gotten from the fans has been unbelievably beautiful and amazing to me, and something that I will always cherish. There is no doubt in my mind that what this band has going is something truly special. Who would have thought in just 7 short months we would be where we are right now and covered the ground that we have. The future is looking very promising and bright and I wish these guys all the best. I plan to stay involved as much as I can, and always remain a part of Zoogma. Who knows what the future holds, but for now I must throw in the towel. I believe that this band will continue to grow both creatively and regionally, and I am regretful to give up my front seat for this ride.

In closing I want to give an enormous thank you to Justin, Jason, Matt, and Preston. Frankly, you guys are the shit. I am so thankful that we came together to create this band. Y'all are family to me and I have grown so much as a musician thanks to you. And to the fans and friends of Zoogma, THANK YOU, without you we would be nothing. Y'all have repeatedly mesmerized me by your gratitude and support. I will miss watching those nodding heads and beautiful smiles from the stage, but keep those heads nodding and those smiles shining, because this band still has a lot in store for you. Good Times, Great Music, and Good Luck Zoogma!
