Also includes the biggest tune this summer by UK revelation Gappy Ranks on Peckings records. Riddim series featured here are the Nylon and Praise Jahovia riddims, on Juke Box & frenchie's Maximum Sounds. ON the remix tip we're fairly quiet, with a liccle ganja tune featuring good ole' Shabba on the "come around" riddim (originally cut by Beres Hammond's band Zap Pow - massive tune called Last war) and a surprise finale with Micheal Jackson. Bio: A partir de Londres, Augui Dub et Flex ont animé l'une des premiéres web radio "custom" de reggae : www.soundclash.org , depuis 2001. Du reggae dans tous ses états, mais aussi de la Soul et du Hiphop et des invités comme Bitty Mc Lean, Nick Manasseh, YT... CLASH HI-FI a fait ses débuts entre Londres et Brighton pour arriver à faire les premières parties des soirées 100% de Soul Jazz Records à Paris. FLEX est derriére un label de remixreggae/hiphop du meme nom, dans la lignée de son ami Jstar et son nouveau projet, FLEXITIME, le Agony riddim rejoué feat. The CD is out on EMI Greece so you can find it if you try hard. For other locations we are working on a release in spring 2008.

The promo 12" remix with Jay-Z is still out there in specialist shops like Betino and 12 inch records paris, Rennes musique (from 8th dec) and phonica records (London). All of these also do internet shopping.


WHAT IS IMAM BAILDI?


Band Description:
IMAM BAILDI is the project of two internationally trained producers / musicians / brothers based in Athens, Greece. Named after a Turkish blend of vegetables who, according to the legend, delighted the local high priest… IMAM BAILDI (The Imam Loved it, in Turkish) is the cream of the crop of the Balkan beat / Mashup generation. The sound of Imam Baildi extends from the coolest lounge to the hypest dancefloors.
Sampling vintage 78 records from the mambo-inspired bouzouki player Manolis Hiotis or the legendary singer Sophia Vampo, a new blend of sound has emerged. It is not possible to put IMAM BAILDI into any category: occasionally filed under World / Balkan, Hiphop / Broken Beat, House / Techno and Ambient… The versatility of the sounds contained in the IMAM BAILDI debut album (EMI) must be heard to be believed. Yet, the core sound is one that reaches to all generations and people of all musical orientations. A true adaptation of Balkan folk music with a contemporary sound, IMAM BAILDI reaches far beyond the "sample and loop" approach to create a truly original and fresh groove.

About the artists:

The Falireas brothers, sons of legendary label owner and shop keeper, Gregoy Falireas, traveled the world. After studying electronic engineering in London, music composition in Rotterdam and digital arts in Barcelona, the brothers returned to dig in their father's vaults and took two years to bring the IMAM BAILDI alive. Present on the local Athinian scene since 2003 as part of the experimental live act with full band Baba Au Rhum, Orestis was beat maker either on the laptop or the bass, whilst Lyssandro shifted from keyboards to drums. Baba au Rhum were very active for the past years, playing on a monthly basis and supporting the likes of MYLO or TORTOISE. Now working for their own recording studio, Imam Baildi is one of several musical projects the brothers are developing. The clearance of the samples with EMI gave rise to this collaboration between these emerging talents and one of the last music major promoting authentically fresh sounds today.



About the Live Act:

The Imam Baildi live acts is centered around the samples and beats emanating from Orestis Falireas's laptop. Lyssandros plays keyboards or percussions, whilst the Yiannis Diskos from Thessaloniki plays the clarinette. Together, they build on the samples and beats which make the Imam Baildi sound to generate a powerful and original live act to be remembered. Live guest appearances from a wide range of artist are common: Traditional Bouzouki and Lute players come aside contemporary MCs and brass sections to make Imam Baildi Live act an experience that could be compared to Goran Bregovic's band meeting Gotan Project.
