An intoxicated man was arrested in Florida after pretending to drown and then throwing jellyfish at innocent teenagers, a move that can only be described as spineless.

Witness say that Keith Marriott, 41, had been drinking on the beach for several hours on Monday when he began to cause a disturbance in the water. Marriott repeatedly dunked himself under and then floated to the surface, mimicking drowning and "causing concern for his safety," according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's report.

That's when the jellyfish started flying. The drunken man, who cops later found was hiding a pocketknife in his shorts, began tossing the sea creatures at teenagers who were swimming nearby.

Police arrested Marriott and brought him to jail, where he was "uncooperative" and, according to a sheriff's office spokesperson, in need of treatment for a pre-existing wound.

So just to sum up: A drunk guy with an open wound and a concealed knife faked his own drowning and then flung live jellyfish at teenagers. Just another Monday in Florida.

It's come to attention as of late.
That quite a few local hip hop bands as well as national bands, as well as people in general are very big in the ego department.......

Though its not my place at all to pass judgement, try to get all preachy and say what is cool and what is not cool. I find it very aggravating as a human being that people hold it in their minds that they are soo much better and then justify through their actions and the way they treat other peoples. Yes I said peoples, cause worst come to worst my peoples come first, right ?.... wrong

An example:
Im not going to name names but a local hip hop act that is actually gaining some popularity did a show with us a couple months back. The time slot they were given was somewhat in the beginning of the show, with only a few people watching at the time. The lil dj was already being rude to our dj and for whatever reason, the lead singer/rapper/shouter/epileptic/thrasher arounder on stage decided he had a right to be a complete dick to everyone involved in the show including the other performers (who even went up to him and complimented him) as well as other people who watched the show and tried to come up to him to show support. Regardless of who you are, when you take the time out of your life and humble yourself enough to go up to someone else and say "good job" or "i like your stuff" the least someone can do is spend 3 seconds of their time, tell you how much they appreciate it and thank you for the support. That's all it takes..... really
Then when Kalyn saw this same group 2 weeks ago at First Friday and tried to say wasup, they looked at her, turned their heads and walked the other way. (and you can't say that maybe they didnt recognize her... cause.. She's kind of hard to forget :/)..... Reality Check.

Another example:
A few weeks ago we did another show with an out of town act (Illogic) on a weekday at a small venue that was changed at the very last minute. Due to the fact the venue was changed and on a weekday the attendance was not at all what was originally hoped for and somewhat small. Even then though, the promoter promoting the show still had a smile on his face (even though he was losing money) and still tried to be a good sport about it and do it for the love of the music.
However one act on the bill (who is also somewhat well known in the local hip hop scene hint: better get macco for those car dents) showed up with an entourage of about 5 people. Started shit with the girl at the door (who is a sweetheart btw) when she asked to see ids to make sure everyone was 21, then when they saw the venue had somewhat of a small attendance walked out the door and left without even performing the set he had agreed to do months ago. BTW he was the one who came to the promoter to ask to be put on the bill, and then because theres not that many people it's not worth your time ? Whatever happened to doing this for the love of the music ?........ wow

I could go on with many many many more examples, but Ill stop. Hopefully you get the point by now.

What posseses someone to think that because they have a few hundred myspace friends, several plays a day and are booking shows "opening" up mind you, for other artists that they have the right to treat others like shit? It doesn't matter what profession your in or who you are (status wise), we are all equal and in this thing together.... at least thats what I have been led to beleive.

We even have ONE friend of ours who is  a very succesfull underground rapper from Detroit who makes a living off of touring and selling music and who would never even dream of acting like, or treating people like the 2 forementioned "local" hip hop acts. And this is all he does for a living, mind you!!!!  It doesnt matter if you are a doctor, lawyer, actor, mainstream rapper, local rapper, work at mcdonalds, or are part of a band that played the Warped Tour in a tent off to the side, that wasn't even on the main stage, in my opinion, nothing gives you the right to beleive, think, act or carry yourself in anyway that would suggest you are better than anyone else.

Get the signal?

Because we are all people on this earth, and there are so many of us here. You would think you would be able to shelve your egos for a while and build together for the greater good of music, life, life and to make this journey we have on earth more enjoyable for all parties involved. It's just sad when people can't check their egos enough to realize that.... Like I keep saying, we're all in this together, and if someone takes the effort to come up to you and show you love, the least you can do is be appreciative.
Or is it that maybe these people just really are better than the rest of us ???? Have tapped into some unique power and are far superior to the masses ?? mmmm. Id have to disagree on that one.
So please, if the day ever comes, that our egos get bigger than the amount of talent that we have, don't hesitate to shoot us. you will be doing us, and the rest of the world a favor.

with love

First of all, thank everyone of you who made it to the Zion I/dubconscious show. If you didn't,..... what a shame.  The show was absolutely amazing and everyone put their heart and soul into that show.  dubconscious played a mind trip for about an hour, then Zion I killed it for another hour or so, and then dubconscious came back and did a freestyle jam for another half hour.  There was no separation between the crowd and the stage it was all one love. What a great birthday for me :)  The crowd was strong, loud, and loving life.  Its such a beautiful thing to see the hip-hop and reggae cultures uniting the community to make a difference and party peacefully.  Thank you Brandon for putting the show together and it was well worth the work!  Unfortunately the sound was a problem for all of us openers, but the sound man couldnt turn down the energy.  Much respect Denver and thanks for the local support.  Because of these Abby's Voice shows, the domestic violence awareness has already been raised and so has money to support young women and men in preventing any domestic violent relationship.  With music, support, and community, we can make a change for progress, and a voice for the speechless.  If any of you did miss the incredible night... stay tight... the work aint done yet.  We plan to do as many of these shows as we can in the future and hope u all keep rockin with us.
