Dear Supporter,
This weekend, turn pride into action. Volunteer.
http://www.eqca.org/volunteer/ba

This is our single largest opportunity to reach out to our supporters and get them engaged in the fight to win marriage back.

It's going to take a massive mobilization of thousands of volunteers to talk to enough people who voted yes on 8 to win a majority of supporters for marriage—even here in the greater Bay Area.

Join Team Win and help us recruit marriage supporters to do this critical work.

Pride is a celebration with a purpose. On its 40th anniversary, let's keep our rights at the forefront of our minds as we take part in this year's festivities.

If you have any questions, feel free to email mailto:michael@eqca.org.

Dear Supporter,

Did you see them at the rally?

As we gathered together to recommit ourselves to repeal Prop. 8, Californians waved their "I Do" signs and wore their "I Do" shirts with pride.

Show your support for the freedom to marry by joining the "I Do" movement.
Get your own t-shirt, lawn sign, bumper sticker or window sign—or gift it to a friend.

They are the two words that every couple should have the right to say. And they are the two words that are now sparking millions of conversations to open hearts and minds on the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.

All proceeds benefit Let California Ring coalition organizations who work tirelessly for LGBT equality and the freedom to marry for LGBT couples. You can even designate your favorite group as you check out.

Retire your old "No on Prop. 8" gear. And get your new "I Do" sign, button, t-shirt or bumper sticker to show your support and start conversations about the freedom to marry.

Together, we will win marriage back.

Warmly,

Vaishalee Raja

We will win marriage back!
Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Last week, Equality California launched the Win Marriage Back: Make It Real! campaign featuring a TV ad of Mary Kate Nicholson talking about her lesbian moms, Cynthia and Frances.

Dear Supporter,

In many ways, yesterday was just like every other Mother’s Day for me. I went to brunch with my family where we shared stories and exchanged greeting cards. But there was one big difference--for the first time, my mothers were legally married. Unfortunately, unless things change, other daughters like me won't be able to experience that.

As I sat there with my moms, my grandmother, my aunt and uncle, I thought how grateful I am to have a loving family full of so many powerful women and to me, that’s what Mother’s Day is all about.

My moms have been so brave through the years, facing discrimination and hate, but sticking together and being true to their love, despite the obstacles. I truly believe that is what marriage and family is all about, too.

It hasn't always been easy, but my moms and I know that the only way to open hearts and minds is to share our story.

Our story is airing tonight and tomorrow across California, in places like Fresno, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Orange County, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and Santa Barbara. At 8 p.m. I will be tuning in to watch our ad during Rachel Maddow, another powerful lesbian woman whose show reaches millions of moderates—just the people who need to hear our personal stories in order to change their minds on marriage.

Won't you donate to help keep our story on the air?  We want to reach a wide variety of people in every part of our state—on daytime and prime time—but we need your help to do it. Every dollar raised will go to keeping our story on the air.

This is exactly the kind of person-to-person, peer-to-peer outreach we need to be doing to change minds and win support for the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.”

Dear supporter,

Any day now, the court will decide the fate of Prop. 8.

We are hoping for a victory. But, no matter how the court rules the critical grassroots work of talking to voters in the field and telling our stories needs to happen.

And it needs to happen now.

Today, we are launching a brand new grassroots mobilization and media campaign and we need your help.
http://www.eqca.org/makeitreal

"Win Marriage Back: Make It Real!" is a grassroots mobilization and public education campaign designed to win majority support for marriage equality in California.

The campaign includes:

:: Launching television ads featuring real families telling their stories. The first two ads feature Francis & Cynthia, and their teenage daughter, Mary Kate, and Ruben & Hector discussing why marriage matters to their families.
Watch the ads and help get them on the air >> http://www.eqca.org/realstories

:: Hiring 25 organizers to harness the energy and support the grassroots, community-based field efforts EQCA and so many of our coalition partners are already undertaking. We already have six organizers who will hit the ground this weekend and 19 more will be joining us soon.
Donate to hire field organizers >>
http://www.eqca.org/makeitreal

:: Expanding our broad and diverse coalition to ensure that this effort is as diverse as our great state.
Help us expand the coalition fighting to win marriage back > http://www.eqca.org/makeitreal

Your story—all of our stories—are the heart and soul of this campaign. By having one-on-one conversations in our communities, we will make our families—and the families of our friends and loved ones—real to people who are not yet on our side. And in so doing, move them to support the freedom to marry.

We know we must fight to regain our full equality and we need your help to do it. Please, make a generous donation now.

Together we will prevail.

In solidarity,

Geoff Kors
Executive Director
Equality California

Marc Solomon
