Hello. We now have a page on bandcamp where you can download our newest little ep, Elk. We went the Radiohead route so you can choose your own price. If you're incredibly rich and want to see us continue recording, please pay one million dollars per song (or even a Ben Franklin?). We will also consider bartering songs for tour buses, private jets, and/or a Balenciaga wardrobe. Twilight Sleep Bandcamp pageThank you. And we heart you. xoTS

How do I begin? Do I say how madly in love I am with my new Twilight Sleep army?
Nicole Gehweiler (formerly of the New York band, The Comas) is playing guitar. She shares a similar passion for lush noise, studios, and pedal tweaking. We get to nerd out together, plus she's a lovely person and not too bad to look at if you must know. We're borrowing Davey Latter for as long as he'll let us to play drums (despite the fact that he campaigns to have us change our band name to things like "maggot neck"). Bass player to be announced shortly as we've narrowed it down to two and will have a hard time with that decision because they're both incredible. I've had worse dilemmas...
We've started recording more new songs with Steven Rhodes (who engineered Silversun Pickups last record). He has a cool aesthetic and working with him has been creative heaven. I secretly call him "xanex" because he has such a calming effect on my warp speed over-thinking brain. Last week we started with drums at Sound Factory studios and I felt extremely spoiled to be there. The control room looks like the cockpit of a spaceship (or at least how I imagine one to look)! Davey layed down some drum parts that were a beautiful surprise.
So, now we've booked our first show and I can't wait to see you all again... I promise not to hibernate for so long ever again. Between now and then, we'll be popping in and out of recording studios whenever anyone will let us in, daydreaming about communist era russian synthesizers, plugging in pedals, and counting down till we get to come out and play.

I realize it's been quiet around here for some time now, but I would never leave you. I was simply hibernating and being a little hush hush about all the changes Twilight Sleep has gone through in the past year. I'm a gang of one now which has freed me to do some really exciting collaborations. Most recently, Zac Rae and I went into his incredible studio and he produced three songs for me all of which are now up on my page. Howard Willing mixed them for us. Brian Aubert (silversun pickups) even made a guest appearance via guitar on "Comme il Faut". More new songs, more collaborations, and most importantly shows are all coming up soon. Untiil then, I will be tinkering on drum machines and synthesizers and thinking of you.

Here's a review from an Italian Music site: www.indieforbunnies.com I have no idea what it says but if you speak Italian, you should read it. If you don't speak Italian, you should still look at it. I think it looks sexy...
*Update... I just noticed there's a new fancy "translate" button so I translated this review. It's very interesting and I'm sure not a completely faithful translation as it would be impossible to capture the essence of another language with the click of a button. Anyway, a poetic read. x
"A perfect mix between the experimental hysteria of Bjork, the dreamy pop of sweetness Monsters Are Waiting and some of the darkest plot Mono In VCF. Guitars and deep echoes of new-wave that flutter all around. Very eighties, moved today and moistened with a sensual voice, angelic .... Damn. Tracy Marcellino takes you by the throat and insinuates itself into your every breath, do not you leave that up to fast these songs leave no space for silence. Blonde Redhead somewhere and a lot of good ideas that will make this group losangelino one of those to watch in 2009. " "... I will not ever read this book. Life goes where she wants and I am not opposed to anything more. Just like that. I'm tired of me piss on him by fate. The territory has scored early, the asshole. Better understand now before the hole to the bone is enlarged too. I risk implosion. Another station, hundreds of souls unknown, other sensations of passage.
The world is running and the weather has been somewhat deleted from the list of my special friends. Inside this car, the dust reigns sovereign and there is smell of vegetable broth. I do not go into the abyss at a constant speed of 100 kilometers per hour, but it is the hell that was slowly put in the path towards me and then it buggers me and if I have to burn, I do it with something decent in the ears. Lysergic and hysterical. "Race To The Bottom Of The Sea" is my new favorite ep this month. Conigliesco."
Thanks Giovanni!

Lisergico e isterico. "Race To The Bottom Of The Sea" è il mio nuovo ep preferito di questo mese conigliesco.

Hello peeps. We've had a bunch of requests for lyrics for the songs on our page so here goes:
BROKEN RECORD
there's a carousel spinning your thoughts into foreign parts and botching your plans up it always comes around again, the pop, to pick you up put the needle down and ride it out before it starts
are there stars in your bag sealed with titanium clasp while all the clouds spin around in your head? you're a broken record
You'll fuck this up You can bet on it You're made of glass So overexposed It always comes around It always comes around It always comes around It always comes around
******************************
SINKING IN
I can't deceive this sleep Lucid tugging currents pulling me deep I'm sinking in Sinking in too deep
This dangerous lullaby My dreamship in the sky I'm sinking in too deep
Stay here, Why don't you stay with me tonight If you would then I might not be so afraid dear Stay here
I'm sinking in Won't you stay with me tonight? I'm sinking in so stay here now
******************************** DON'T FIRE YOUR GUNS
So tonight, your eyes Face downward toward the ground Sirens in your heart Are red alarms That you can't turn oh You can't, you can't turn it off
You might fire your guns But you'd be the only one So watch yourself You'll only break your heart
It's a game that you have to play Of trying to connect the dots Your hammer crushes your own head There's no army coming around To help you break down And we won't be there We can't be there to clean the wounds
You might fire your guns But you'd be the only one So watch yourself You'll only break your heart
Wait until the morning Wait until the morning to give up Don't fire your guns
***************************************************************** THE OTHER ONE
Friends you say? Well it's not enough Too long to take away this clutch Of your reticence While you're bound up I want to be there now Your eyes tell More than your mouth
I'm running out on the town And I will chase you down I'm gonna fight it Until you get it I never wanna be the other one
Friends you're giving? Well I don't want to take it I'll wait here 'til I grow old I have no shame I know you're not in love I want to know when you're leaving I want you to come around
I'm running out on the town And I will chase you down I'm gonna fight it Until you get it I never wanna be the other one
calm down you are the one for me to keep inside lay, lay down lay me down lay me down, lay me down I will not be chided Don't make me wait all night for nothing No
Oh be kind I can see it in your eyes I know you try to hide it You can't conceal it No, I can't be like the secret I love you blind I want it I want it I want it Oh, let this be known
There you have it. xoT

...just in case you were wondering. Todd MacGill (former head designer for Wyeth) has started a new line called Graydn. It's absolutely stunning and not even out yet. I'm spoiled because he is kind enough to let me test drive his clothes. At last nights show, and upcoming shows, I will be in Graydn (and sadly returning my frocks to the Graydn sample closet the next day). There you have it.
Love, Tracy
