BEFORE I DIE
before I die I want to watch you making love with someone else before I die I want to feel prostitute fingers on my body
I wish time was on my side, for once. from now I'm a blank diary.
before I die I want to walk on the moon, talk to John Lennon before I die I want to forget how to ride my bike
everybody has to know that everyday is my birthday.
SHOOT THE NANNY
shoot the nanny hey hey hey take yourself for a ride, man take care of what you feel, what you see
make it snappy hey hey hey snatching life is easy and instead of acting cool be the fool
just be on time for the new big parade thousand of smiles make your life inflammable
singing louder and louder: "here I am !"
shoot the nanny hey hey hey let your sin be seen the street is your new church can't you hear the bells that ring?
make it fluffy hey hey hey head in clouds feet in grass, man there's sunshine in your eyes, blood on your hands forever
LADY PORNOGRAPH
there's a party in my garden tonight everyone's here, empty bottles of wine... from where I'm standing I cant's see her smoking american cigarettes pills in pocket, she knows that I know
eyes wide open, she thinks everyone's mad she forgave them for making her so sad. has she been told that dreams lead to a slow and painfull death? a cold breezze through her hair, goose bumps...she's gone...
caterpillar shapes, double headed lions, she needs you, she loves you endless golden skin, seas of glycerine, she sees you, ceases you...
Lady Pornograph, fleshly autograph
can't she see now that everyone is gone maybe she'll ask for a warm place to stay.
YOUR LOVE IS OLD-FASHIONED
someone is ringing, you throw me straight out your bed you say "that must be him" I'm leaving like a hurricane
alone on the staircase with doors slamming in my hears everyone's running the day had begun without me
today I'm forty and I'm in love I'm a bit cold but my heart's warm
it's kind of funny that was UPS delivering.. even funnier is someone you know well is ringing now
today I'm forty and I'm in love with a sock in my pocket and the drawing of a child in my hand
today I'm forty and I'm in love the streets are quiet but I sing loud.
HOLE IN MY SHOE
is there something I can say about the hours spent in buses and trains? is there something I can do about the pouring rain and the hoe in my shoe? I'm too close to give up
hello, I'm ringing at your door I'm early, I can't wait for five minutes more no problem, take your time
is there something I can say to her mobile phone, what message after the tone? is there something I can do about the girl next door who's asking for more...? I'm too close to give up
hello, I'm still waiting at your door I can't stand her pleasure anymore this voice sounds familiar to me....
CREATURES
I'm looking through my windows and all I can see is me
oh, beautiful people I'm so proud of myself oh, beautiful people I'm so proud of myself
from here to now the world is my creature
and I know it's the way you like it.
IF
if I was a boat I would sink if you were a disease I would die if you were a cloud I would rain if you were the night I would fall if I was your fate you would live forever if you were just my friend I would cry

Article written by Ged M for SOUNDSXP Aug 12, 2009. Lecube: From Here To Now
Julian Barbagallo is from south west France but has the heat of Sicily in his veins. This album collects his first two singles, and adds four new tracks. There’s a so-so cover of 'I’ve Just Seen A Face' but his best tracks are the self-penned ones. These are broody songs of longing but with a transgressive edge: the intimate, confessional 'Before I Die' lulls with its gentle Americana and shocks with its lyrics "I want to see you making love with someone else…I want to feel prostitute fingers on my body" while the melodic 'Lady Pornograph' has a soothing effect that contrasts with the title. He comes across as a storyteller of self, a blend of Elliott Smith and Richard Swift, though he might be a cousin of Pelle Carlberg on the basis of his one departure into indiepop here, stacking pa-pa-pa choruses and trumpet fanfares into 'Your Love Is Old-Fashioned'. He’s introspective and enigmatic but avoids singer-songwriter clichés to produce something intriguing and occasionally spellbinding.
Lecube -
From Here To Now (Album)
by Ruth | Friday, September 11
The soothing sounds of Lecube (Julien Barbagallo) From Here To Now
creates the perfect rainy Sunday afternoon soundtrack. The slow-beat
acoustic guitar melodies and laid back piano tracks are in perfect
unison with Lecube’s calming vocals, which are disturbed only by his
uniquely disturbing choice of lyrics.
What begins as a contemplative introduction into his latest work, From Here To Now soon morphs into a confusing journey of playback to check if you heard those lyrics right. The introductory track before I die,
introduces us to the artist, with a calming, slightly Pete
Murray-sounding vocal style backed by a unique instrumental combination
of Ben Lee and The Shins, however this façade is soon interrupted by
the lyrics "Before I die, I want to watch you making love to someone else"- this odd combination continues to explain his fantasies about sleeping with a prostitute.
Essentially, although it’s an odd combination, the lyrics work within
the context of the music, and cause the listener to spend a large
amount of time pondering the subliminal messages hidden in the lyrics
later in the day.
Whilst the majority of the album is slow paced and laid back, ‘your love is old-fashioned’
provides a much-needed break from the slow lane, providing a more
up-beat tempo and preventing the album from slipping into dreary
undertones.
The incorporation of Lennon/Maccartney’s I’ve Just Seen a Face proves
that Lecube is not only a great creator, but a validated artist. The
album manages to steer clear away from becoming the usual preppy pop
drizzle, and the most impressive track of the album Creatures, oddly enough, happens to be a seven minute long masterpiece with an exciting instrumental collection and limited lyrics.
Overall, Lecube’s latest offering ‘ from here to now’ offers
an unusual mix of indie chaotic lyrics which usually means the music is
rubbish, however, Lecube manages to be an exception to this rule,
providing an enlightening combination of thought provoking lyrics and
instrumental talent.
