FALL OUT
BOY’S PATRICK STUMP AND DARYL HALL GET THEIR GROOVE ON LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE NOV. 15
The two pair up for 25th installment of groundbreaking web series .... Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Stump
writes most of the music for his platinum-plus Chicago rock band, but he’s also
a closet R&B/soul fan who has produced tracks for fellow Windy City rapper
Lupe Fiasco, and is a longtime fan of Daryl Hall’s music, which makes him the
perfect guest for the 25th and latest installment of Live From Daryl’s House,
available starting Nov. 15 at www.lfdh.com. ....
.. ..
“As a musician, I
can’t fathom a show more fun to play than Live From Daryl’s House,” says
Stump about his experience playing with Daryl and his band, including T-Bone Wolk,
on the web series.....
“Patrick Stump is one soulful vocalist,” says Daryl admiringly. “I was really
impressed with his grasp of R&B and it turned out we shared a love for a
great deal of the same music.”....
.. ..
As a producer,
Stump has worked with such bands as Gym Class Heroes, whose vocalist Travis
McCoy is also an unabashed Daryl Hall fan and a participant in a previous Live
From Daryl’s House. Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman calls him “a musical
genius, a mad scientist,” while noted producer/performer Kenneth “Babyface”
Edmonds says, “Patrick is one of the hottest dudes I’ve seen in a long time…
He’s got a great voice and a tremendous amount of talent.” Fall Out Boy’s fifth
album, Folie a Deux, was released last December, producing the hit
singles, “I Don’t Care” and “America’s Suitehearts.”....
.. ..
Stump puts that
great voice straight to work, joining Daryl in a seven-song set highlighted by
singles “Out of Touch” and “Guessing Games,” the latter from the H2O
album. Among the Fall Out Boy
songs Daryl and Patrick perform are versions of “I Don’t Care,” “What a Catch,
Donny” and “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” along with a cover of Jimmy Ruffin’s soul
classic, “What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted.”....
.. ..
Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a
mix of well-known performers like Smokey Robinson, The Doors’ Robby Krieger and
Ray Manzarek, Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Todd Rundgren, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis
McCoy, Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett and the Bacon Brothers,
along with newcomers such as Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers
Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin
Rudolf, Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves, Bay Area
singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, Charlottesville, VA’s rising Parachute,
Chicago rock band Plain White T’s and highly touted tunesmith Diane Birch.
Live from Daryl’s House started with
Daryl’s “light-bulb moment” idea of “playing music with my friends and putting
it up on the Internet,” and the show has subsequently been praised by such
varied media outlets as Rolling Stone, Spin, Daily
Variety, CNN, BBC, Yahoo and the influential Lefsetz Letter. ....

Launches Campaign to Induct Daryl Hall and John Oates Check out her petition here: http://bit.ly/2uqabU Rachael Ray was upset at a recent taping of her Emmy Award-winning daytime show with guests Daryl Hall and John Oates when she learned that the biggest-selling pop duo of all time have not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The episode will air November 6. Determined to right this egregious wrong, Rachael said "Hall and Oates has my vote!" in a call to action posted on her blog, urging fans to leave comments advocating Daryl and John's induction. In fewer than 48 hours, the makeshift petition had amassed nearly 400 testimonials, plus groundswells of support on Twitter (#hallandoatespetition) and Facebook. Check out Rachael's petition and fan comments here: http://bit.ly/2uqabU Fueling the uproar is the success of 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates' (RCA/Legacy), the duo's first ever box set, which debuted at #89 on the Billboard chart this week – the third highest CD box set debut of 2009 behind the two Beatles sets – and #17 on the R&B chart. Critics are effusively praising the "unsurprisingly excellent" (Washington Post Online) set, saying 'Do What You Want...' "will make fans' dreams come true (woo-ooh!)" (Entertainment Weekly). The Huffington Post declares that the "74-track assembly truly is one of the best box sets ever released." You can also catch Daryl and John performing on A&E's 'Private Sessions' this Sunday morning, October 25.

Did you know Hall and Oates, one of the biggest pop rock duos in
history has not yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame??? I was surprised myself when they told me that recently on a
taping of the Rachael Ray show. That’s why I want you to
leave me a comment here and this will act as our petition to get these
guys into the Hall of Fame. We’ll gather all of your kind words, and
send this off to show just how much we support these guys.
So tell me why you love Hall and Oates and why you think they should
join the likes of other excellent rockers. You can leave comments or
even just your name if you don’t have much time. It all counts!

For 24th episode of acclaimed web show, Birch and Hall will team up on songs from her debut album, Bible Belt
NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2009—Singer/songwriter Diane Birch’s passion for American music, which includes everything from the delta blues to Motown, California surf music, Top 40 pop and south Philly soul, mirrors the same eclectic influences that inspired Daryl Hall, so it seemed a natural pairing to put the two together for the 24th and latest installment of Live From Daryl’s House, available starting on Oct. 15 at www.livefromdarylshouse.com.
Birch’s S-Curve Records debut, Bible Belt, was written entirely by Diane and recorded in New York and New Orleans, with Grammy-winning producers Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright and Michael Mangini at the helm.
Birch was born in Michigan, but moved to Zimbabwe with her South African-born parents, who were missionaries; migrating to South Africa and then Australia before returning to Portland, Oregon when she was a teenager. An extraordinarily accomplished keyboardist, whether on piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer or Farfisa, Diane has been compared to fellow singer-songwriters Laura Nyro and Carole King, as well as Elton John and Jerry Lee Lewis. Rolling Stone calls her “Amy Winehouse-style retro pop, minus dysfunction…Her welterweight voice is strong and fetching.” The Huffington Post’s David Wild said: “I’ve just heard the future of singer-songwriters and her name is Diane Birch. Bible Belt is more than welcoming… it’s downright thrilling.”
“Diane has one of the best new female voices I’ve heard in quite a while,” said Daryl about the latest new artist to appear on Live From Daryl’s House. “She’s also a very evocative songwriter and kills on the Wurlitzer. We really had a blast.”
Diane and Daryl tackle a seven-song set that includes a pair of fairly deep Daryl Hall and John Oates album tracks in “Life’s Too Short,” from the 2003 album Do It For Love, while “Fall in Philadelphia” originally from the 1972 Atlantic debut, Whole Oates, and now available remastered on the 74 song box set DO WHAT YOU WANT BE WHAT YOU ARE, THE MUSIC OF DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES (RCA/LEGACY), which streets on October 13th . The two also perform four songs from Bible Belt, including “Fire Escape,” “Fools,” “Nothin’ But a Miracle” and “Don’t Wait Up.” Birch shows off her vocal range on her and Daryl’s soulful cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Daydreamin’.”
”I had to keep pinching myself, especially when Daryl started singing ‘Fire Escape,’” Diane enthuses about the experience. “It was a seriously surreal day and his whole crew could not have been cooler!”
