Hey all,

A quick update on where the Winterun machine is at is  long overdue, so here it is.  In short we've been up to one thing, huddling in the rehearsal cave cranking out some new tunes that will be put out sometime early next year.  All's heavy and groove ridden with a few new tweaks that are sounding pretty damn cool.

To break up the schedule we will be hitting Revovler in Prahran for Chreech's Album launch on Friday August 14.  We'll be debuting 4 or 5 new tracks so if that takes your fancy get on down.  You can pre-purchase tickets at moshtix and you should as being a launch and all they are selling quick.

Stay tuned for more gigs to be announced as we cant wait to get out and about with the new sounds!

Beers and grooves,

Winterun.

Those that have witnessed the last few Winterun shows will have noticed that the blistered fingers of bass duties have changed hands.   Gav Hayes has moved on to pursue other worldly pursuits, ending nigh-on five years of great riffing and good times with the band.  On behalf of the entire Winterun clan, we wish him well.

Joining the fold in the low end slot is Matt Taylor.  Matt comes to the band with a barrel of musical talent, a well-hardened liver and a 6-stringed bass of doom!!! As a result, new tracks are already in the works and are sounding slick. Those in Melbourne, come down and welcome Matt (and some new tunes) to the Winterun clan at the Heavy Duty Festival at the Tote, Saturday August 30.

The Heavy Session this Friday:
Joel and Matt will be guest programming on THE HEAVY SESSION, 3CR’s Metal show.  Tune in to 855 AM round 11.30pm on this Friday, August 22 for some hand-picked heaviness!  http://www.myspace.com/theheavysession

To all those in the U.K. You can vote for Winterun in Terrorizer's unsigned band competition by texting "unsigned 15" to 87474.   Texts are 50p per vote and the winning band will get to open the Terrorizer stage at this years jaw-dropping DAMNATION FESTIVAL in Leeds.  To those who vote, beers to ya in advance!

Dont forget that this Saturday’s huge show at the East Brunswick Club, check the website here - http://www.myspace.com/freethewm3australia. Awesome!

In the meantime more for reviews for ’Into the Underground’ are rolling in, check this one from Kerrang:

MOUNTAINOUS ALTERNATIVE RIFFAGE FROM ANTIPODEAN GROOVESTERS

AT LEAST one member of Australia ’s Winterun grew up with a healthy collection of ’90s alternative records. The quartet’s tumbling, incessant riffage conjures up the rolling majesty of Kyuss, the warped, looping lines of Helmet and the schizophrenic bleakness of Alice In Chains. There are artistic flourishes reminiscent of Smashing Pumpkins, and vocalist Nick Dunstan sounds like a gruffer Maynard James Keenan. All luminary references, but is this actually any good? Yes, actually. Once you get past playing ’spot the influence’ it all melds together into a superb, unstoppable juggernaut where the guitars are tar-thick and the grooves positively subterranean.

G'day All,..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Winterun's new album 'Into the Underground' gets released nationally through Amphead Music in just over a week (Feb 16) and there's plenty of cool stuff afoot to celebrate:

Saturday 9th February

Winterun support Molten Duke Ranch in their one-off reunion show at the Tote.   This show will be awesome, check out M.D.R's press release:

"Having spent six months trudging through the wilds of ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Patagonia in search of the 'new sound', drummer Dave Duke has returned to the Molten Duke Ranch fold for a one-off reunion show at the Tote on Saturday 9 February. This'll be your last chance to hear such hits as the 'Omeo Romeo' and 'Six Miles Wide' played live in the flesh as he'll soon be jetting off again to chase senoritas in Margaritaville. The Duke'll be joined by good friends, Clagg, Ahkmed, Winterun and the Hotel Wrecking City Traders. The first 50 payers will received a complimentary Molten Duke Ranch EP. You betcha!"

Yeah!

Thursday 14th February
