Breez Evahflowin is not your typical rapper who rhymes nonsensically about drugs, guns, and bitches. This Brooklyn bred MC speaks about real issues that affect our society on a daily basis, something that cannot be said about many of the radio-friendly artists dominating the hip-hop industry. His prowess on the mic was asserted once steady appearances on MTV's hip-hop program Direct Effect led to him being crowned Battle MC Champion. Future showings on The Carson Daly Show and BET's Rap City furthered his status as one of the foremost lyricists on the burgeoning underground hip-hop scene. Breez Evahflowin affirms his position as a catalyst of conscious hip-hop with the release of his fourth official album Troublemakers. The old-school vibe of "Get Ready" is reminiscent of the classic Rakim sound with its steady bass-line and staggered synth claps. Breez recalls the original call and response chant with lyrics like "This my music/Are you ready to rock?/B-Boys/Are you ready to mix it up?/DJ's/Are you ready to break it down?/MC's". He steps up his lyricism on the guitar and horn laden Latin influenced track "El Matador". The smooth rhythm complements Breez's laid-back flow beautifully. He references his multiple appearances on television with lines such as "get sloppy/new jacks tbey get cocky/but for the rep do they give respect?/Naaaa/They forgot before Friday at freestyle/the Viacom hollered at me style." Despite his true to form style, Breez must warn other rappers not test his skill, keeping alive the history of MC braggadocio that has thrived ever since the foundations of hip-hop. Other noteworthy tracks on Troublemakers include "Careful" and "Tryin' To Hold On", with their delicate instrumentation and soul-based vibe. The only blunder on this album is "Repo Men", mainly due to its tired subject matter and tired production. Despite this one flaw, Breez Evahflowin's newest effort showcases this maturing artist's diverse abilities as both a keen beat selector and lyricist. If the ailing music industry ever decides that rappers with legitimate talent are marketable, Breez has a very good chance of dominating airwaves and record stores near you.

The Troublemakers team consisting of Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch have gone back to lab to back the next rightful president of the United States Barack Obama. The song asks the question - if not OBama then what? The song can be downloaded for free here:
Troublemakers for OBAMA
TM4O.mp3

Spread the song and more importantly spread the question itself and if you know and Mccain supporters I encourage you to engage in dialogue that gets to the root of their support. Hopefully it'll reveal more than a soft spot for veterans and all american girl types. This song comes on the heels of one of the greatest smoke and mirrors campaigns ever launched. This one is serious people, if you're over 18 and you haven't registered to vote yet go to http://www.DeclareYourself.com and get involved. - Breez Evahflowin

On a rainy Friday morning, 1:30am to be exact, we took a trip uptown for an appearance on WKCR’s Squeeze Radio with the one and only Sucio Smash. This is the man, along with Timm See, who took the show over for Bobbito and Stretch Armstrong. Despite the block being sectioned off by police in the midst of a bomb scare as a result of a suscpicious package report, the Troublemakers made their way into the studio and did their thing.

Writer for allmusic.com, Marisa Brown put together a balanced review of Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch’s new album Troublemakers, and it goes a little something like this…

Troublemakers Review

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

Long a part of the East Coast underground scene, MC Breez Evahflowin and producer Dirt E. Dutch — who also manages to flex his mic muscles a couple of times — joined up together for Troublemakers, which was released on Dirt’s own Little Ax Records. What results from their collaboration is a consistent, steady album, though one that doesn’t always set itself off as extraordinary. Breez’s flow is smooth and practiced, able to change cadences and rhyme schemes easily and skillfully, and while his lyrics aren’t always as profound as he’d like to think they are ("Your mind is a target/Buying anything that they sell you, blind in the market," he spits deliberately on "Killhuminati"), they’re intelligent and intricate and manage to explore a variety of typical underground hip-hop themes (the state of the genre, the desire for success, the rapper’s talents) without coming across as predictable or boring. Even more impressively, the duo brings up less common topics without seeming like they’re trying to force their lines or ideas. "Repo Man" sets up producer against MC, both of them listing off the sorry excuses of the other for not getting their parts done, and is witty and fun, while "MDLM" manages to discuss the pros and cons of money, a bad break-up, and the drive to pursue music over a simple but effective guitar-and-drum beat. In fact, much of the success on Troublemakers is because of Dirt E. Dutch’s expert production (he does it all except "El Matador"), that — while it can suffer occasionally from the East Coast hip-hop syndrome of looping an especially short soul sample so that the beat almost drones, annoyingly — generally works to emphasize the strengths in the MCs’ voices and nicely set the tone of the album: reflective, warm but dark, with plenty of Wu-Tang and Premier influences. There are a couple of drawbacks here: the overuse of sampled dialogue drags things down, and while the guest MCs don’t do anything to hurt the songs they’re on, their average verses don’t add much, either. But when both Breez and Dirt show off their best stuff ("Don’t Be Afraid," "Trouble Anthem," "Repo Man"), they prove themselves to be a very talented team.

Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch sat down with one of the hardest working freelance journalists in the business, Adam Bernard. We talked about the creation of the Troublemakers album, the state of Hip Hop, and trouble making in general.
How does a legendary MC step up his game and do something next level over a full decade after first wowing crowds? For Stronghold's Breez Evahflowin the equation was simple, link up with one of his neighboring state's hottest up and coming producers, Dirt E. Dutch. In January the duo released an album under the name Troublemakers (Breez Evahflowin and Dirt E. Dutch Are Troublemakers) and I caught up with both of them at their album release party at Cousin Larry's in Danbury, CT. How did NYC's Breez Evahflowin meet CT's Dirt E. Dutch? I was wondering the same thing myself which is why I sat down with them to find out how they linked up, why their teaming works so well, and exactly what kind of trouble they're causing.Read the Interview Here
