Sorry Eugene.
Everyone who might have been at the sams place show, I am sorry (all 4 of you and the other bands). I got a call from Tim of the shudders about a show that the band that gordon our ex drummer is in at a club called Sams place. Most of my favorite bar wenches from the tiny work at Sams and I really like the guys in gordons new band (they used to be in Captain Punk Rock) so I said sure! (First rule of improv is to say yes). I confirmed with Tim and put it on our calender.
Earlier this week I emailed gordon to get load in times. (no response)
I have been moving and our drummer has been breaking up with his live in g/f and moving so we had to pay to rent a space downtown to cram for this gig (I hate cramming for gigs I am soooo ready to do new stuff ((Busholini Kareoke anyone???)).
I have new stuff! It is not in this band !!! WTFO!??
I call the bar to see when we are supposed to come down since I didnt get a load in from the other band. They coundt get an authoritative answer so I told the manager that we would be down at 9. I didnt want to go to proactice without a load in time and get shit about communication from the band.
I am still sick and tired and bummed that we dont have more together and we practice sans drummer and I am sick and tired and I want to bring back the stuff that has been edited out of the band and to work on new stuff but we practice to where I feel that we wont be embarassed and I walk home and go to sleep.
This morning I get up with my usual dread every time I go to eugene and I call tim who gives me a couple of numbers and I call the band who booked the show and they say its on! So i get on the buss to Eugene. At about 3 pm I get a call from the band booking the show. It is not on. I was able to tell the band before they waisted another 5 USGis to come down here for nothing.
Drat.
Double Drat!
I talked to Evin Marshal last week and he said we should be able to play the next Punks and Pints he puts on.

The band kicked ass again for its freinds and an up and coming band Ex Post Facto that is well worth checking out. I was tired and cranky but chanelled all of my anger into an exceptable show. Kudos to the crew. Thanks to the tonic.

5 portland bands at the samuri raised over 300 for food not bombs. (At only 3 per head !!!!). After threatening not to come down because I didnt know when load in was the band came down and totally kicked ass. Those of you who missed it really missed it.

 Ok so I have been pretty bad about pushing the band one way or another and letting it go its own course. Pez billed the the first two shows that i didnt have to do myself which made me really happy. And Sabalas can be a great venue. We were supposed to play with a band from BC called the Belushis and a band from CA called Last Chance. For a while it looked like Last Chance wasnt going to make it so we got on the horn and asked the Generals to play.
I had been in Eugene hanging with my kid and took Amtrak up with a box of shirts. The band also collectively paid for the merch (very different indeed).
We got there and the belushis lead was there and but the band wasnt. They hadnt bothered to to get their visas in order and US Customs turned them away. I am glad we had an extra band on hand.
As Pez says in his blog the generals are always worth seing so when they get out go see them. They play a mean Motorheady AC/DC style of rock that hits the spot.
I wasnt sure what to expect with this crew live but I was extremely happy. The sound man left Pez in a state where the bass reverberated defeningly through the middle of the room and on stage. It didnt matter. of the 15-20 people who I talked to lately who saw the show most thought we rocked and look forward to seeing us again. By my count we had a crowd of at least 40 on a sunday night which were mostly there to see us. I owe pez a bottle of expensive booze and between that and the table which busted in half when I jumped on it the evening cost me just over $100. But it didnt matter. It felt great to be back out and I really thought the new crew works amazingly well together live. We even survived a spontanious rendition of Condi with the lead from the belushis.
Last chance went on next with a tight version of punk which sat between compact 56 and the queers. As they had to get back to CA I hope the door put some money in the gas tank.
