Pacific domes partnered with Creative Domes by Event Technology, a

company dealing with overall event production in the summer of 2008.
Domes were built in Slovakia for the first time as a roadshow partyzone
traveling through four largest Slovakian summer music festivals. Each
2-day festival hosted about 30,000 unique visitors to party in our Dome
Partyzone.

The partyzone was created by a 90ft dome surrounded by two 36ft domes

and was open for festival visitors all through the festival, offering a
large round center bar with a DJ tower on the top and VJ and lightning
art on the sides of the dome.

The smaller domes involved a chillout zone with activities like Virtual
reality motorcycle contest on Suzuki motorcycles, Nintendo Wii,
customized magazine covers made out of pictures against blue screen.

Pacific Domes is proud to be a part of the recently published Sustainable Homes
by Pilar Chueca. The book documents dozens of beautiful and simple
examples of sustainable architecture. It serves as an up-to-date
resource on the current state of sustainable design.

The book provides a story of a family from Ojai, California who live
in the 44 foot dome. They are able to integrate themselves in the
surrounding landscape and easily customize their home to suite their
life-style.  They enjoy maximum living space without any internal
supports.

The dome is also well insulated with a rubberized paint which also
deflects UV rays in the summer months, keeping the dome comfortable
year round. Pieces of the dome were able to be peeled back in order to
take in the natural beauty of the California coast. The family also
added room separations to provide their ten-year-old sun with privacy
when desired.

Aside from the minimal physical environmental impact of the dome, It
also provides a reduction in energy consumption. Almost all the energy
used by the home comes from solar panels. We are honored that
Sustainable Homes chose to feature us excited that more people are
learning about the many reasons to consider making a dome their home.

JANUARY 28, 2009

FAITA used a 16′ Pacific Dome in an event which took place in Milan.

It was used as a pre-entry into the main space. Tecnodomes, srl., the Italian dealer for
Pacific Domes International, hosted a 16′ dome.

The Dome was customized with sophisticated lighting
and unique design elements.

The versatility of the Dome has shown once again the varied uses of the geodesic structure.

Its effective design can add to the success of any event.

Snow Lounge for Stars

ExpressJet Airlines, a regional operator of corporate and charter flights,
hosted a
20 ft. event dome at Los Angeles International Airport in
mid-January. The
Event Lite dome was called the “Pre-Sundance Snow Lounge.”

Snow Lounge for Stars

The special occasion for which this portable structure was brought in was to send Hollywood stars

off to Park City, Utah for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Snow Lounge for Stars

The all white dome set the stage for a winter celebration where 30 tons of snow
was trucked in to make the Southern California location feel a bit more like the
Rocky Mountains.

This promotional event was organized to bring recognition to the “Sundance
Express,” an ExpressJet chartered flight that was taking people like Paris
Hilton to Utah for the festival.

Yukon StoryDome

Here’s a really unique idea for a geodesic
dome
! One of our clients purchased a 15 ft.
dome frame
for an art project that was installed in Dawson City, located in
Canada’s Yukon territory. The concept was to create a storytelling tent that
looks like a woman’s dress. The artist made her own fabric cover for the dome
and then built a torso to put on top of it. She erected the tent beside the
Yukon River and calls it “The River Bride.” Inside, she has created an unusual
atmosphere where she performs for children and adults from the local area. One
of the dome’s features that she enjoys most is its appearance at night when
lit from within. She hopes to see it really glow under the Northern Lights. This
photo was taken during a very bright full moon in December. If you’d like to see
more photos of the project, please click on the following links: domedome set

Game Plan

JANUARY 10, 2009

One of our 36 ft. event domes made its way to Las Vegas this month for a catered event that was planned to coincide with CES. The dome was used to target a very specific clientele who would be in attendance at the high-tech tradeshow that takes over the city every January. The dome played its part by drawing in gamers and overclockers who use very high end, revved up computer systems. It was chosen for its futuristic appearance which helps to establish a unique type of atmosphere that sets it apart from the norm. The Event Lite skin also provided a large “screen” for digital projection.

Game Plan

We erected the structure in the parking lot of a local business. It was
there that many big names in the overclocking industry gathered to see
AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) show off their new Phenom II processor.
There were also internet gaming machines on site. As people crowded
around inside the lit up dome at night, they were able to witness a
live demo right on the structure’s fabric cover.

Game Plan

The dome was a great solution for our client because of its ability to be

set up easily right in the parking lot. The lack of suppport poles created an
interior space that was inviting and was able to accommodate people and
equipment without any obstructions. It also looked pretty cool to the
high-tech group that was using it!

30ft Shelter Dome Build

These photos were sent to us by one of our shelter dome clients. They show a successful dome-raising which took place in an Oregon back yard last October. Our client was lucky enough to have some friends and family over who all pitched in for a weekend of work. The 30 ft. shelter dome, a Tropical Plus deluxe package, was erected next to the main house on the property and will be attached to it as an additional living space. Plans for the inside include building a loft as well as making separate rooms.

30' Shelter Dome Build

The construction project began with building a deck for the whole structure. On top of the deck they built a 33 inch riser wall. They put the frame together using the top-down method and then lifted it up onto the riser wall. The client installed pre-hung doors at both openings to create traditional rectangular shaped entrances.

30' Shelter Dome Build

The next day, many hands worked together to lift the cover onto the structure and work it down over the frame. After that, they zipped the bay window into place. In the photo below, you can see what the cover and window look like right after they are put on. When the sun comes out and warms up the material, the skin will shrink to a tighter, smoother fit and the bay window will be clear.

30' Shelter Dome

It was a good thing they raised the dome when they did because the winter weather hit shortly afterward. Despite some nasty ice and snow, the dome has held up really well according to our clients. They are looking forward to some milder weather so they can spray on the Thermoshield and finish the interior. Soon these domeowners will be able to enjoy the feel of their new space, one that they put together with their own hands! Stay tuned for more photos as their project progresses…
