While surfing the plethora of bands on Myspace, lighted with indefinite hope of exiting the cliché world of sound alike pop-rock, I discovered the very epitome of a musician’s musician, that creative soul is Aaron Short.

With a forefront of melodically ingenious composition and soothing lyrics, Aaron Short is sure to be noted among the legends of pop-rock. Learning piano at a young age, his taste for music evolved into a passionate spectrum of some of the greats like Damien Rice and Elvis Costello. “I have always been drawn to organic, acoustic-based sounds.

There is nothing quite as honest as an acoustic guitar,” says Short. As honesty pours from his unique voice, his heartfelt lyrics are incomparable, ranging from various personal experiences. “I feel that these songs are true and therefore I can sing them knowing that I believe what I am trying to say, even if people do not like the melodies they cannot deny that they are honest and this always shows.”

Becoming one of the best vocals in the business due to his explosive live performances and wonderfully poised EP; his combination of the “last fifty years,” attributes to his rare prowess, attracting wide varieties of fans throughout the UK and the US. “ I just happen to like a wide range of music and this comes through in my writing. I do not mind who I connect with as long as I connect with somebody.” Aaron’s music definitely connects and through the words of one of his fans, “his music to be a breath of fresh air in a world filled with copycat noise.”

His EP which is a testament to his range of music, may have taken three months to record, but is by far one of the most decorated works of all time. Combined with his meticulous arrangements of music and vocal, it adds depth, and captures the wow- factor. Aaron has begun rewriting some of his songs in order to add, “another dimension to a song,” says Short, “I also have a lot of bits and pieces lying around which I hope to complete in the future.” Speaking of future events Aaron will be playing his first band gig at the Bedford, Balham, London, SW12 9HD on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 featuring Johannn Ting, Jimmy Sims and Zsolt Olah. The show starts around 9:00pm. (So, for my friends in London, go check him out you will not be disappointed. Also Check him out at www.aaronshort.com or www.myspace.com/aaronshortuk )

Aaron’s music has certainly connected with me, I believe that his amazing gift, his brilliant insight, and sheer talent, mark him as one of the most decorated and sincere musicians I have ever covered or will ever cover; and believe me this is not the last time you will be hearing about him. I am cut on space this month due to our new writer, but I will be sure to add a column where I can praise this amazing artist as he truly deserves to be.

Until Next Time I Remain,

Usually during the period before Christmas, most of us are getting in a process of considering what weve done during the last year and what we wish to do in the following one. One thing is for sure that we all have many mistakes we regret. As Aaron Short would say though, 'People Make Mistakes', but please dont make the mistake not to listen to his EP carefully, because this would be surely something that you will regret.

The 25-year-old from Suffolk created an amazing five-track ep, which without any exaggeration might be one of the best EPs from new artists that Ive heard lately. His songs sound musically perfect and on the one hand this might be because of his studies, on the other hand though, we could just say that this bloke is gifted. Any comparison with other artists would be rather pointless, as Aaron has managed to create his own identity in his music. The only person that I could say that Aarons music brought in my mind is Fran Healy and this only as far as the sense of fragility that the music has.

People Make Mistakes is the opening track of this EP and it took me several days to manage to listen to the rest of the songs. People Make Mistakes has such an engaging tune that just makes you want to listen to it over and over again. Yet after I eventually managed to press the forward button, I realised that the following tracks were equally perfect. If This Is Love ended up being my favourite song and I would love to listen to more songs with Aaron Short accompanied by the sound of a piano.

As Aaron Short would say Theres nothing left to say. He is simply amazing.

People Make Mistakes is a gripping, weathering ballad of acoustic pop/rock, boasting sensuality and charm, a creation of sensations, emerging into an image that percolates through the mind and awakens the tender emotions of the soul. This is a formation of the most provocative poetry to be written by a young David Gray, an innovative singer/songwriter of today who is at a peak. Shorts vocals are cool, calm and divine in their element, without reason or rhyme, like love, like heartbreak, a timeless sound.
