The four songs I chose to play first on here are from three different albums, but you'd never know it since the crux of the songs are the interplay between the inseparable and incomparable Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. They are meant to go together like Fred and Ginger, Dean and Jerry and, well, Wayne and Herbie.

They are two musical geniuses that have played together for going on five decades and each are still as vibrant today as they were at the time of these recordings. Adam's Apple and 502 Blues are both from the album "Adam's Apple" and feature Wayne's phenomenal tenor playing and Herbie's be-bopping best. "Infant Eyes" is one of the most hauntingly beautiful ballads ever written and comes from the early Blue Note recording "Speak No Evil". Herbie and Wayne's playing are so subtle it nearly brings tears to your eyes.

The final song is from the latin tinged "Native Dancer" and is the last song on the recording called "Joanna's Theme", and again, it has a subtleness that begins the first minute and a half with Herbie playing, leading into Wayne's beautiful crescendo of notes.

I hope you all enjoy as much as I do.

Peace,
Greg

Wayne Shorter is one of the most talented composer, arranger and saxophonists who has ever lived. Now in his 70's, he still continues to put out cutting edge music that challenged the jazz genre as much now as he did with The Miles Davis Quintet, his phenomenal solo Blue Note Recordings and time with Weather Report, which he co-founded with the late Joe Zawinful.

God willing, we will be blessed with much more music from Wayne for many more years. This MySpace page is a tribute to his genius and the trail of jazz he's helped to blaze.

Peace
