Hey everyone -

Here is the direct link to pre-order the "We Are Still Alive" EP on CD:

The first 100 pre-orders get a limited edition 1" button + C/A/T stickers - along with an immediately mp3 download of the album so you can listen between now and the Oct. 20th release date.

Also, the CD version of the EP is on sale for only $4.99 + shipping until Oct. 20th when the price goes up.

If you're waiting for iTunes, Amazon, etc. - the digital release date for the EP is Oct. 6th - so it should start appearing on those sites around that time.

Thanks and I hope everyone enjoys listening to this EP as much as I enjoyed making it...

We ARE playing Vendetta Festival in Denver on Saturday.

C/A/T for this show ONLY will be myself and Kat, who left the band back in early 2008.  So it'll be a little of the old and a little of the new as we're playing a ton of new material.

Also, we have had to pull out of the GOTHtoberfest in Chicago on October 3rd.  It was purely a logistics thing and we felt bad that neither us or the GOTHtoberfest organizers could come up with a reasonable solution to keep us on the line-up.

However, I see that I:scintilla has been added to replace us - so that is pretty awesome.  If you're in the Chicago area and want to catch a cool show, please head over that and catch Icon Of Coil, FGFC820, Cruciform Injection, The Azoic, I:Scintilla and the Gothsicles.  Should be a party.  Oh, and C/A/T recently finished a remix for I:scintilla for their upcoming EP - so that's pretty cool too. :)

Anyhow, hope to see some of you this weekend in Denver.

And we're working on some more live dates to support our upcoming EP so keep it tuned...

Friday - Sept. 18th

So, I had Paul from the band [syndika:zero] backing me on this show. It made more sense since he was here locally and it was way cheaper than flying Rachel/Malice in from Flagstaff, Arizona.

Paul and Cindy came by to pick me up since I was in a car accident two days prior that apparently "totaled" my car. We made a run out to the airport after the required stop for Paul at Carl's Jr. Because Paul is obsessed with Carl's Jr. This obsession was documented when we got photos of Paul in front of an incredibly ornate Carl's Jr. in Las Vegas last year.

I heard that our East Coast tour for October as C/A/T and [syndika:zero] was intensely fucked up just moments before we left for the airport. So... yeah, lots was discussed on the way there - ultimately ended in us both deciding to "pull it" before either of us lost our ass playing a handful of shows to no promotion. Yay!!!

So, we got to the airport, I had a bag that needed to be checked that had merch and all of my toiletries. I know you can do the stupid "little plastic bag" for that, but my carry on was packed to the brim with gear and a change of clothes as a hedge against any bag losing, etc. Wow, was I smart there! But anyway, bag checked and all that.

We made it through security and then waited. And waited. Our American Airlines flight to Dallas was about 40 minutes late. YAY!

This was amplified by this flight having the most wheelchair load-offs I've EVER SEEN come off of a plane. Seriously did not help things.

We were in the air and facing an awesome 15 minute window to catch our connection to Madison, which was either the last flight of the night or potentially we could MAYBE catch one into Chicago and then into Madison. Maybe.

I spent $13 on some satellite internet crap and Dave from Cervello Elettronico who is an airline employee by day before he turns into Super Dave in the evenings and seduces all of the women - well he helped us out a lot over Facebook and told us what to do / say if needed.

We landed and literally had to RUN between two terminals with like 5 minutes to spare. Dallas has a weird train/shuttle thing and luckily as we ran up the train came! We ran down the stairs and were met by a gate agent who radioed ahead and they made some executive decision to still let us on the plane.

SCORE!!! We're goin' to Madison!!!

By now we were both pouring with sweat and got the "look of death" from everyone on the small plane - but oh well, wasn't our fault.

The flight kind of sucked since we were near the back and like everyone on the plane had to drop a #2 during the 2 1/2 flight. The plane reeked of the bowels of weary travelers by the time we landed.

Of course, my bag was "missing" but a gate person filed a report and assured me that by 4pm *at the latest* on Saturday I'd have my bag.

We also met up with Ryan who was our awesome ride from the airport to the hotel and then to the venue. Paul really wanted to go to Hardee's - which is the Midwest version of Carl's Jr. I'd already learned it was a cheap, cheap bastardization of the smiling star logo, but some people have to learn the hard way.

We went back to our room and ate the mediocre food and then Ryan took us out to the Friday night of Reverence.

Upon getting there we learned that everything was like 2 hours behind schedule - so we missed nothing.

Met up with Alter Der Ruine and then Iszoloscope and proceeded to get very, very drunk. This was compounded when we later met up with Delta 9 and had more shots than humanly possible.

I also met this cool girl name Preety from Detroit who was hanging around with us all most of the night.

Caught some of the bands, but was kind of bummed when I learned that Caustic pulled his set due to time. But, Delta 9 came on and rocked it and he's seriously someone I listened to like 10 years ago when I was in college and wandered around campus with a CD walkman. I loved finally getting to see him do his business live.

After that we somehow fit us, Alter Der Ruine, Yann and Matt in Matt's Honda Element and got a ride back to the hotel where we were all staying.

We all decided food was in order and went over to the Denny's in the parking lot and ate Denny's food at like 4:30am. Got back to the hotel and passed out around 5am.

Bad news first:

We have canceled the East Coast tour with [syndika:zero] set for October.  This cancellation includes Gothtoberfest in Chicago.  Our ability to participate in the festival hinged upon a tour being booked around it.  When it became impossible for us to go on the tour it then became impossible for us to do the festival.  I do not know if [syndika:zero] will still be playing the festival or not, last I heard, they were going to try and still make it.  Please check their sites for updates on what they will now be doing in lieu of the "Still Alive" tour.

Good news next:

C/A/T is now accepting bookings for one off events between now and the end of 2009.  If you or anyone in your area has leads to promoters who'd be interested in bringing us in for a show or adding us to an existing event, please get in contact with us via: cat@crunchpod.com

C/A/T is, as of today, self-represented, meaning all booking request go directly to ME and promoters and event planners will be dealing with me directly which should hopefully make things a bit easier than they have been.

Due to my car accident last week, I am housebound until further notice.  This means that I'm basically stuck where my studio is 24/7 right now.  So, unless I get completely lazy and play XBox until I pass out each day... the release schedule for C/A/T and Captive Six may bump up a few months as I have nothing but time to write at the moment.

Thanks to everyone who has already put us in contact with promoters for one offs.  My goal is get a least 3 or 4 more gigs before the end of 2009 and then start planning for next year's tour in the next month or two.

Be well,

-Ben

First the bad news.

I was in a car accident this morning. I’m physically “okay” beyond a sore back and chemical burns on my hands from my car’s airbags. Nothing that won’t heal with time.

However, this severely puts any touring in October in jeopardy – due to finances as I now, potentially, have the “real world” issue to deal with about replacing my car which is a big uncertainty until the insurance company makes their ruling.

I’m not 100% canceling the shows in October yet, and we’re scrambling to re-arrange things so that we can justifiably still do a quick East Coast run in October, and the next 2 – 3 days will tell the tale there. You’ll hear it here first if we need to reschedule – which will realistically be in early 2010 at this point.

Now onto the good news.

Since advance payments or transportation were already sorted – I will be appearing at the Reverence Showcase in Madison, WI this weekend as planned to debut Captive Six.

Likewise, C/A/T will be appearing at the Vendetta Festival on Sept. 26th as originally planned. And the recently announced show in Phoenix, AZ on November 7th with [syndika:zero] at Straynge will not be affected either.

More good news is that I’ve finally delivered the final pre-masters to “We Are Still Alive” to our mastering engineer very early this morning so we should have those for you in early October as planned. I will also be still doing the free “Live With Myself” EP at some point between now and the end of 2010. And all signs point to early 2010 bringing the debut Captive Six album and the next C/A/T album “Chaos And Terror” as I’m knee deep in early mixes for both at this point.

I’d also like to thank each and every one of you who has supported C/A/T this year. We’ve had a band member hit by a car, I’ve been in a pretty big car accident, we’ve had a lot of touring opportunities fall through and had some of the worst luck imaginable when we were on the road this year. The people like you who give a shit about our music and what we’re doing is what keeps us going against this wall of adversity and challenges.

Thank you.

If we do have to cut 2009 a bit short with the live events… I plan to make 2010 ten times better for us and all of you.

That’s a promise.

Be well,

-Ben

As I'm already looking ahead to next year's album... 1. What format would interest you the most: A) Standard CD with full color artwork and booklet, etc. B) Professionally printed CDR with full color artwork and booklet, etc. C) A high quality mp3 download direct from Crunch Pod or any of the legit download sites. E) MP3 and/or Lossless files on a customized USB Flash Drive F) High quality mp3 downloads from a customized download card that I can keep as an additional "souvenir". G) Other - please comment (though things like "vinyl" are currently out of my budget for a full length album due to the cost per piece)

I'm reluctant to commit to a complete album at this point as I feel that both the music industry and my writing style are at a crossroads and I want to see where things go over the next 4 - 6 months.  As I feel the core of the We Are Still Alive EP is very strong, I did not feel the need to wait many more months to try and fit those around other newer things I'm working on under the C/A/T name - so I feel they stand better alone and with the companion free EP.

Hopefully this makes everyone happy to some degree.

While we most likely will NOT have the WASA discs on hand for Vendetta Festival, we will in fact have them for all shows to be announced for October.

Thanks again for everyone's support and I'll post another update when things are more in motion with the upcoming EP release.
