Would you like to introduce The Eviltones and give us the story so far? The Eviltones are Indy Fontana, vocal; Madmanroll, guitar, Danny Tone, bass; Ryan M, drums. After a few misfits all four pieces of the puzzle fell into place and The Eviltones shifted into gear, spat out a 7 inch and stepped up the live action, arousing audiences across the the U.K and Spain. Can you talk about your debut release on Dead By Mono? 'Telekinetic' is an epic mariachi burn out, haemorrhaging heart attack guitars and a desperate vocal naively pleading for reason from beasts. 'Swallow You Whole' is a slap in the face to mediocrity and passivity. The songs function as evocations and excorcisms of holy, hungry ghosts. It seems that England is turning on again to Garage Punk, what's the scene like these days? No comment; we are 'The Eviltones'. You play a great mix of Garage punk with Surf guitars, was that a conscious decision or it just happened? What were your influences when you were starting? No conscious decision was made to sound like anything other than the liberation of ourselves. We are riding a brave energy and reins are for the fearful. If we were to recommend a record to you it would be 'Fire Of Love' by 'Gun Club', a band who are dealing with similar demons to our own. How was your tour in Spain? Any funny stories? Are you planning another tour? Spain was romantic and enlivening. It's easier to break the rules there. The corners haven't been swept clean yet. Not so many spit shine smiles. We plan to go back there in the summer after we have dealt with The Netherlands in the spring. What are you listening to right now? What are your all time favourite bands? Right now I am listening to Robert Johnson 'Preaching the Blues'. We appreciate bands that aren't afraid to free the beast. We love naked performers and circus freaks. It seems like you are immersed into a B-Movie world, is that true and what are your favourite movies? Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff are good two dimensional points of focus. 'The Eviltones' however, are three dimensional. How did Blast Off festival go? We worked very hard on stage and off and grew a little older the next morning. Anything else you'd like to add? At the moment we are recording our debut album at Hypermonosonic Recordings to be released in the spring time 2010. Actions have consequences but diamonds leave no shadows!!! see you all on the road!!!! The Eviltones interview - read more |
