Hello Family,

Thank each and every one of you who have contributed!

Since our last call out for financial support to get Cyphertown to the
Playa, we have received 18 donations adding up to $1,000, one donation
for $300 and one for $500!

Budgets are always fluctuating this close to the playa, but our goal
is to raise $9,000, which covers the baselines of
Sound/Construction/Generator/Fuel/Trucking/Decor.

Right now, our total fundraised is $6,800.

That's only $2,200 to go!

It's individuals like YOU giving $15, $25, and $50 donations that have
helped us get 1/3 closer to our goal since we sent our first
fundraising message! And that happened with only 20 of you donating!

This email reaches well over 1,000 people!

All we need is for 2% of you to give similar size donations and we
will meet our funds needed!

The sound system contract is already signed, so we WILL be on the
playa, rocking it, no doubt! But if you can help us, and make a
donation than we will not have to go into any personal debt and this
can truly be a Cyphertown of THE PEOPLE!!!

We appreciate all your time energy and Patience with our fundraising
messages in these last days before Burning Man. We like to run things
with transparency, and let you know what's going on behind the scenes.
We have no major corporate sponsorship or full sponsors of our camp
as of yet. It's all YOU people who make this happen, all YOU people
who bring the art and music and dancing, all YOU people who join this
circle to create Cyphertown.

"Cypher" means Circle
and the town is where we gather.

Join the Circle and Donate Today!
Paypal Cyphertown@gmail.com
or visit cyphertown08.eventbrite.com to register to camp with us!

Thank You Once Again!
Enjoy your last few weeks of prep time,
and we will see you soon!

Blessings,

Inspired by the political Hip Hop of the late 80's and early 90's,
Apostle (also known as Jeff Campbell), is a spoken word and Hip Hop
artist from Denver, Colorado. He is also a vocalist and songwriter for
underground urban dance music collective Heavyweight Dub Champion,
whose release Survival Guide for the End of Time was awarded "Best
Local Recording of 2002" by Westword magazine. The group's upcoming
release, Rise of the Champion Nation, features tracks with
performances by Hip Hop legend KRSONE, as well as Killah Priest, an
extended family member of Wu Tang Clan.

Apostle was one of the pioneering voices of Café Nuba, which is an
infamous Denver spoken word monthly event that features the country's
premiere poets, and has three solo self released albums to his credit.
He has opened for a diverse list of music talents such as De La Soul,
Run DMC, Burning Spear, Sage Francis, Saul Williams, Long Beach Dub
All-Stars, Ghost Face Killa, and the list goes on.

In addition to his work as an artist, Apostle is also a Hip Hop
educator and social activist. For the last 6 years, Jeff was the
founder and director of his own non profit organization, Colorado Hip
Hop Coalition (CHHC). Under his direction, the CHHC raised nearly
$200,000 dollars and served over 8,000 at risk youth through
workshops, assemblies, and after school programs in middle and high
schools throughout his home state. CHHC also employed over 50 artists
within the Denver Hip Hop community and worked with 71 different
schools facilitating his unique curriculum all within the contextual
framework of Hip Hop. Apostle is currently in the studio working on a
solo project, which is as yet untitled. He frequently speaks at
colleges and universities around the country on utilizing music as a
tool for resistance.

The word Apostle means to be a leader or an advocate of a new cause,
or the pioneer of a movement. Whether working as an artist, activist,
or educator; Apostle, Jeff Campbell, lives up to its meaning.

Greetings Friends and Family!

Robin Goodfelllow here, reporting from Cyphertown Headquarters!  We've had an exiting last few weeks and I just wanted to give you an update as to what's been going on and what is to come!

In this Update:

1. March to Tibet Report Back
2. Upcoming Events (Including 2 Different events with Cyphertown Crew TONIGHT!!!)

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

1. March to Tibet Report Back

On Sunday, April 6th, we held a wonderful event at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco to raise money for the Tibetan People's Uprising Movement.  The party went off with three throbing rooms of bassilicious whomp, and got covered well in the media, including a live video snippet on CBS 5 News (http://cbs5.com/video/?id=32904@kpix.dayport.com, anyone know how to capture that?).

Cyphertown partnered with Wasfia Nazreen and Giveback.net to make this party the dopest it could be and to raise as much money for the Tibetan People's Uprising Movement, and awareness about the Beijing Olympic Torch's passing thru San Francisco as possible.

We are happy to announce that Cyphertown, Wasfia Nazreen, and Giveback.net raised $4,417.71 at the show on the 6th!  In addition, $1,320 was left over from the 11-11-07, Torch of Truth Event at Temple SF, and Giveback.net has raised $648 so far on their March to Tibet campaign page (where a free download by FreQ Nasty vs. Bassnectar is available!  http://www.giveback.net/freqnectar), bringing our grand total raised for TibetanUprising.org to $6,385.71!!!  GO TEAM!!!

Thanks to ALL OF YOU for helping us make this happen!  We couldn't have done it without yah!  This money will soon be delivered to the Marchers on the ground in India to empower their journey on foot towards their homeland!

If you couldn't make the show, or would like to do more to help us empower the Tibetan journey to Independence and Freedom, please consider purchasing at LIMITED EDITION EVENT POSTER, featuring an originally commissioned piece by Andrew Jones (AndroidJones.com) for just $20!  These posters are beautiful and inspiring and are a great memento from the show, the effort and the historic moment for SF and Tibet!  Please paypal $20 for an Unsigned Poster and $30 for a signed (by the headliners) one plus $2 shipping and handling, to Cyphertown@gmail.com, with "March to Tibet Poster" in the subject line and your mailing address in the body of the message.

In other news related to the Torch:

We had a good Cyphertown Crew rolling with us out on the streets when the torch passed, effectively keeping it undercover and on the run around the city to avoid the masses of pro-Tibet protesters!  Thanks to all the crew who came out to support that one!  The waves of our action have been felt around the world!

On the Morning of April 7th, just hours after speaking at our party, Laurel Sutherlin and Duane Martinez, of Students for Free Tibet, scaled the Golden Gate bridge and hung a banner reading "ONE WORLD, ONE DREAM, FREE TIBET!".  The photo of their action was the front page of the New York Times, the SF Chronicle and many other papers.  Just goes to show how a simple, strategic action can speak loudly around the world and effect real change!  Video of their action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YWf9BLVGnY

Yo Crew!

Thx for the incredible turnout at 1015 last night!  The show went off!  Three rooms totally rocking all night long, ritual opening with Tibetan Prayer, Brazilian Drumming, Activist Speakers, and enough BASS to shake some SENSE into the CHINESE GOVERNMENT!!!

March to Tibet is a "PARTY WITH A PURPOSE", and we sinserely hope that you will carry this intention forward by joining us to protest the Olympic Torch’s passing thru San Francisco!

The Action will start promptly at 10am (so be there before) at Ferry Park, right on the Embarcadero.

To get there get off at Embarcadero BART and walk 3 blocks North up Drum St.  Check out this MAP

If you would like to gather with other Cyphertown Heads, please call me, Robin Goodfelllow, at 812-345-9318 and we’ll meet up.  Wear the Team Tibet Color of WHITE and a BLACK headband to honor the fallen inside Tibet.  If you have Tibetan Flags or clothes that are Red, Yellow, and Blue (Tibet Flag Colors), those are also good.

Below are some Videos from the Party!

The first is Laurel Sutherlin speaking just before FreQ Nasty’s set, some speaking from Me, Goodfelllow, and FreQ heating it up with Saul William’s "Pledge to Resist".  Laurel is an activist who has been arrested inside China for acts of Civil Disobedience, and yesterday was arrested after successfully hanging a FREE TIBET Banner from the Golden Gate Bridge and dangling for several hours hundreds of feet in the air.  This action has been covered by CNN, BBC, Gaurdian, SF Local Papers, and Publications and News Sources from all around the world!  Scroll down for a vid of some local TV coverage of the action.

Also, check out Wasfia Nazreen (co-producer of March to Tibet and Phayul.com journalist) interviewing Karsh Kale about his perspective as an Indian on the situation in Tibet.

Thanks to Tom Sepe for posting up these Videos so quickly!  Enjoy and see you on the streets tomorrow!!!

Yo Fam,

This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity to see Desmond Tutu, a Global Leader for Peace, speak and stand for Tibet! Please come!

Desmond Tutu: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Tutu

Join Richard Gere, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Tibetan leaders and other special guests for a historic rally and candle light vigil in support of the Tibetan people and their struggle for basic human rights. As China prepares to host the Olympics in August, the government is conducting the worst crackdown in Tibet since the 1960s Cultural Revolution.

Come show your support for the Tibetan and Chinese people on the eve of the Beijing Olympic torch passing through San Francisco - the only stop in North America.

Where: United Nations Plaza, at Market & Hyde, near Civic Center BART

Rally & Speeches 6:00pm
Culture / Music 7:15pm
Candle Light Vigil 8:00pm

Namaste CREWshall Family!

The next Cyphertown show is coming up in a little over a week! I am honored and privilaged to be working with incredible co-producers Wasfia Nazreen and the good folks at Giveback.
net, Darin and Claire and da team!

This show is gonna be hot, with three rooms of electronic whomp for your appitite!

IMPORTANT!!!
We are doing this for the cause!!!
Now is the time to take a stand for Tibet! While the International News Cameras are locked dead on them for the Olympics!

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said that the traditional Tibetan way of life, inside Tibet, will be completely erradicated in the next 15 years, due to forced Chinese cultural assimilation.

The Olympic Torch will be coming to ONLY ONE CITY IN NORTH AMERICA: San Francisco, on April 9th!!!

Obvioulsy we need to DO SOMETHING and Stand in Solidarity with the plight of one of the most peaceful cultures on earth! Just visit Dharmsala, India where the the seat of the Tibetan Culture in Exile exists, I’ve been, and the people are some of the sweetest that I have ever met around the world...

Please join us in harnessing the power of a JOYFUL CELEBRATION to raise awareness and money for TibetanUprising.org!

Then, three days later, Cyphertown will be in the streets of SF in solidarity with the Tibetan People and to be present wherever the torch is going to be. Please Join us in this 2nd half adventure episode of this months Cyphertown experience... ;D

We could REALLY use your help in promoting this show!  Join the cause by forwarding this info!  Below is the text announcement that can be posted in your blogs on myspace, facebook, going and tribe, and forwarded out to your networks in order to help us support the emerging artform of radical celebratory empowerment!

Blessings and Thank you for living your truth.

Starting from March 10th, 2008, the world has seen a heavy crackdown on Tibetans by the Chinese Authorities. Since Beijing restricted international media following the recent surge of rioters inside Tibet, the first envoy of independent journalists were allowed in only to be greeted by the desperate pleas of monks under severe repression.

Right now Tibetans are rising up globally in bold and outspoken protests against the sixty-years of illegitimate occupation of China, despite risking arrests and tortures. 2008 is a huge year for Tibetans as the world turns its spotlight on Beijing for the Olympic Games in August.

On April 9th, 2008, the Olympic Torch will pass through San Francisco, its ONLY stop in North America! Join Cyphertown and Giveback to stand in solidarity with Tibetans and help raise funding for the March to Tibet, a non-violent campaign to bring Tibetans exiled in India back to their homeland.

Since 10th March 2008, there has been a heavy crackdown on Tibetans by the Chinese Authorities. Over the recent uprising of rioters, Beijing has just now expelled all outside journalists from Tibet, while death rates of innocent Tibetan victims continue to pile up and western media is banned from any form of documentation.

This is the first time Tibetans are rising up with such force against the sixty-years of illegitimate occupation by China. 2008 is the biggest year for Tibetans as the world turns and puts its spotlight on Beijing preceding the months ahead of the lead up to the Olympic Games in August 2008.

On April 9th 2008, this very Olympic Torch will pass through San Francisco, it’s ONLY stop in North America!
