In Tempe, AZ they do it on the second Thursday of the month. In Berkley, CA they ride on the second Friday.  In Venice, CA they ride on the first day of the month, while Palm Springs, CA does it on the last day of the month. (source: critical-mass.info)

Roy Sekreta Memorial Critical Mass ride


This week we will be riding in memory of Roy Sekreta, a cyclist who was struck and killed by a motorist on Comanche Rd while crossing the diversion channel (Full story below).

Tentatively, the route will be Central to Carlisle to Comanche, then we'll see from there. It is a long ride, but an important one.

This will be a memorial ride, but that doesn't mean is has to be somber. This should be our loudest, rowdiest ride yet. So, get to the Duck Pond at 5:00pm on Friday, March 7th, and let's give Roy a fond farewell!

Bicyclist dies in hit and run accident


Heartbreak is setting in for family and friends of the bicyclist killed by a hit and run driver.

Roy Sekreta, 43, had set a goal of biking 4,000 miles this year.

He was on his way home from work Monday night when a 25-year-old man slammed into him on Comanche at Vassar.

That driver originally fled the scene and returned 30 mintues later. Police said he admitted to hitting Sekreta.

Sekreta was married and worked as a design engineer for a local solar panel company.

Police will present their investigation to the district attorney's office. The D.A. will decide wither to charge the driver with a crime.

I threw together a little website thingy.

I finally tracked down the New Mexico bike laws.
Check 'em out. As far as I can tell the only thing they can get us on is riding "two abreast." Everything else looks like it checks out.

Next month someone needs to bring a camera. We can't expect to be taken seriously as a Critical Mass if we don't bombard the internet with pictures of a bunch of people on bikes doing stupid things.

So, at first editing this page with cool style sheets was fun, but I got bored as hell and started to feel like it was an enormous waste of time.

Until I get motivated again this page will continue to look like crap.
