We could use your help to get a little press.

Send an email to hometownheroes@altpress.com telling them they should feature 48sin in their Hometown Heroes section of Alternative Press Magazine.

Include a link to myspace.com/48sin and a few sentences saying why they should feature us.

It would be a big help :)

So the debut album by Spinnerette came out yesterday. It's probably the strongest rock release I've heard in quite sometime, and also has one of the hottest album covers (and back covers!) ever. So, I thought I'd reminisce with my top 5 hottest album covers ever.

-Patrik

Number 5: Spinnerette

Simple. To the point. The hottness is probably also increased due to the awesomeness of Brody's voice.

Number 4: Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts.

Perhaps it's the possibility of your dream girl coming to you naked and transparent, or maybe it validates those dreams where you wake up feeling like there was some kind of weight on you. Either way, it's a great album cover.

Number 3: ManOwar - Anthology

Homoeroticism at it's finest. For those who love sweet 80's man-meat in fur, this one's for you! If you're gay and don't want to listen to WHAM! or Judy Garland, there's always Manowar!

Number 2: Pulp - This is Hardcore

I saw this album cover at a store when I was probably 16, and had to get it. As it turns out, it's a great album, and sparked my curiosity with the 90's brit pop movement.

Number 1: Herp Alpert's Tijuana Brass - Whipped Cream and Other Delights

Released in 1965, this album cover remains the hottest album cover ever, even after almost 45 years! You can find this album in every dad's old vinyl collection without fail. It seems none of the dad's can remember what the album sounds like, but they all own it nevertheless. It's still probably the best vinyl buy in every discount bin across the country. Shit, buy 12 and make a Warhol-style collage on your wall!

Here's a mini update of what's going on:

First, we're playing an acoustic set this Friday at Hot Topic in Yorktown Mall. Go to our shows section for all the details.

In the next few weeks we're going back to Electrowerks to record a few songs with Chuck Macak. We're tracking two new songs, and a cover of Radiohead's "Street Spirit (fade out)" for a Radiohead Tribute record. We made it all electronic and cool. It's gonna be awesome.

We've been diligently working on new material, and this is what my floor looks like when I do so:

48sin

There are some gummy bears outside of the shot that you can't see. They are very important to the writing process.

We can't wait to show you what we've got!

So we've kind of disappeared for a while. This blog is to say we're baaaaaaack.

The first announcement is that Justin, our long-time drummer, is no longer playing for 48sin. He's still a good friend of the band, and a talented mother fucker. We wish him luck on all his future projects.

On that note, we have a new drummer. His name is Jon Lewchenko, and he hits so hard that I have to buy a new amp. He's bringing a new excitement to 48sin, and we're anxious to show him off to all of you.

We've been asked to contribute a track for an up-coming Radiohead Tribute record put out by Failure to Communicate Records. We're doing a rockin' version of Street Spirit (fade out) - the last track off The Bends. Some excellent and popular artists are going to be on it, but we're not going to tell you who just yet. It should be released sometime in September.

Lastly, a good friend of mine, Alex Goldberg, directed a video for Sipping Down the Barrel of a Gun. Here is the video:

We will be tracking the Radiohead tribute as well as a new song or two in April. It's gong to rock your collective cocks off.

Our new album, "Retract, Collide, Collapse," is finally available!

It's our first full length record, and we spent about 7 months making it.

There are two versions. One is the one available to online retailers, which includes a bonus remix of "The Infection" by Rob Kleiner of Tub Ring. The other is the good old fashioned CD version, which features fantastic artwork by Shelby Cinca (Dillinger Escape Plan, Darkest Hour, Frodus) at Passkontroll.

Also, big thanks to Rob Kleiner for donating his keyboard services on "Impedance."

The record is available online at the following locations:

iTunes

Amazon

Shockhound - Coming Soon.

The physical CD will be available in these stores:

Guitar Center

You can also order one from the 48sin store.

The CD is not available in Hot Topic or Guitar Center just yet, but within the next week or two they should have received them.

Please go buy yourself a copy, or you might die. Scout's honor.

We really couldn't be any happier with the outpouring of fan mail we've received lately. Here are some of our favorites:

BITCHES ALWAYS TALKIN BOUT NIGGAZS AINT SHIT writes:

"hey sexy when can i kick it wit you sexy"

Sorry Mr. BATBNAS, although the sexy-deuce increases the temptation two-fold, we must decline.

SIR VASQUEZATOR 78 writes:

"GIRL UR FINE ID TAP THT"

48sin writes:

"we're a bunch of dudes.

but i'm sure she'd be flattered by your eloquence"

Keep them coming! We love hearing from our fans!

Our record is cookin rather steadily now. We've been doing a lot of premixing shite, and heading into real mixing this week.

The album title is "Retract, Collide, Collapse."

and it's biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig

In other news, we're *über* excited to announce the gentleman doing the art for the record. His name is Shelby Cinca, and he has been involved in such amazing projects as Frodus, Decahedron, The Cassettes, and Man And Wasp.  He has quite a resumé. You can visit his site at themindcontrol.com (copy and paste that, MySpace doesn't like it).

Here are some albums he is responsible for:

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works

Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation

and a shitload more that I don't feel like copying and pasting.

He's a fucking talented guy and we're really looking forward to working with him.

More soon.

So we've been at this recording thing since a week before Thanksgiving. It's the first time we've recorded a full-length record, and holy shit does it take time.

Here's what we've got done:

1.) All the drums
2.) All the bass
3.) 99.9999999999999% of the guitars
4.) 6 songs of vocals with 5 more to do.

What's left? The rest of the vocals, a guitar lick or two, extra synth tracks, mixing, and mastering.

We've still got some time. It's sounding incredible, and makes our collective heart go pee.

If you haven't watched them yet, you can see our studio videos at our youtube channel at www.youtube.com/48sinband

There will be a new one posted in the next day or two that will have the first rough mix of a track.

What's going to be on the record? Four tracks from our last EP, one from the one before that, and six new ones. The new stuff is both the heaviest and poppiest stuff we've done so far. You'll get a nice mix :P

We hope y'all had some excellent holidays, or at least some excellent days off. We're looking forward to pounding the shit out of your faces in the next few months.

Until then,
Patrik
