Hello world! It's me! It's been so long since I last sent a mailout that even I've nearly forgotten who I am...
In spite of my silence, there are some exciting bits of news to tell. I've listed them in handy - er - list form.
:::: ONE: Tour! ::::
Firstly, and most importantly, I'm off on tour as of this Tuesday (26th May) with US songwriter and Radio 2 favourite Nell Bryden (headlining), plus Gabby Young (yay!) and Lana (yay!). Dates and locations are as follows... we three supports will be rotating in the lineup each night - if you don't want to miss anyone then get down early :) It would be lovely to see you at one of the shows if you have a spare evening...
26 May 2009 - SHEPHERD'S BUSH, LONDON Ginglik, Shepherd’s Bush Green, Shepherd’s Bush, W12 8PH - £6 http://www.ginglik.co.uk/
27 May 2009 - NOTTINGHAM The Maze, 257 Mansfield Road, Nottingham, Midlands NG1 3FT - £6 www.themazerocks.com

:::: TWO: Playing Tom Robinson's (BBC 6Music) stage at Wychwood! ::::
To round off the tour I'll be playing with the full band on the last day of the excellent Wychwood Festival on Cheltenham Racecourse. It's a real honour to be asked to play and I'm very much looking forward to it. Double hurrah!
31 May - CHELTENHAM Wychwood Festival, Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham. Tickets from http://www.wychwoodfestival.com/
:::: THREE: Radio! ::::
Last week I did two radio interviews with two rather splendid chaps from the good old BBC. Both go out at rather unsociable hours but you can listen again online for the next week or so...
25 May - 02.00 - 03.00 6Music: BBC Introducing: Fresh On the Net (Tom Robinson) - chatting about making albums, finding musical friends in a place as big as London and other such things. http://www.bbc.co.uk/6musicintroducing
26 May - 01.30-07.00 6Music: Chris Hawkins Show - live in the studio with Gabby Young and Lana for 2 hours picking tracks, chatting and admiring Chris's handbag. http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/chris_hawkins/
:::: FOUR: More Radio - live session on Radio 1 Scotland!! ::::
This still to come... I'll be in the Radio 1 studio in Glasgow to do a live session for Vic Galloway at the end of June. I'm scared already...
Alrighty. Bed time. I'm sorry this bulletin wasn't more entertaining but it's 2am and my brain has stopped working. Hope you're all fast asleep like sensible people!

A short, sweet blog after many, many months... I have a longer one that's been sitting on my computer for AGES now, which I promise I will post... one day... but in the meantime: Hello! I'm playing at my little brother's wonderfully swish bar TOMORROW! That's right - Thursday 9th April. This is provided I can find a microphone survive the early-morning train journey up from London... If you fancy some live music, some alcohol combined in interesting ways (it's a cocktail bar afer all) plus a rare glimpse of two Flints in the same room at the same time (one of them the ACTUAL, LIVE Christopher from "Christopher, You're A Soldier Now") then please do come and say hello... :)
Here's the venue: http://www.bondno9.co.uk/ Here's a quick re-cap:
THURS 9th APRILMe, live @ Bond No 9 84 Commercial Street Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6LX Free entry - starts at 8pm. x

It's nearly here... Me + Revere (hurrah!) + Gabby Young (hurrah!) + Pepe Belmonte (hurrah!) in the stunning surroundings of the Union Chapel, which has played host to the likes of Bjork, Beck, U2... plus Cara Dillon and me this time last year :) Tickets £10 on the door - you can get the cheaper in advance either in person from me, or online at WeGotTickets.

A couple of big gig announcements, to celebrate the impending Christmas season. First off, I'm playing lovely Kick The Plug's Christmas extravaganza at the Wilmington Arms on the 3rd Dec - full details here... Second up is a show at the amazing Union Chapel - almost bang-on a year ago since I last played there with Cara Dillon. It's a stunning venue with stunning acoustics and rafters as high as the sky... There's a Facebook event you can join (below) and if you buy your tickets in advance you'll get them for £7.50 instead of £10... Come and celebrate the festive season with some of London's finest unsigned musos! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=37106210740/event.php? eid=37106210740

This has just given me the illusion of proper musician-dom, and I'm excited. It's like... a proper interview... about proper stuff... in the Scotsman!! Except it's ME talking! And sounding all precocious and hyper... (but believe me, I talked so much when Andrew interviewed me that this could have been horribly embarassing. I was excited and nervous and a bit train-lagged - he's been very kind!).
Anyway - here it is for the non-Scots. A full page no less :)

I've just packed everything into the world's most massive bag for tomorrow. I have metre-long drinking straws and elastic bands. You have been warned.
PS: Anyone know why hyperlinks don't work any more when you paste them in here? I'm sure they used to...

A brief album launch update... Here goes: Bands? Check! Comedian? Check! Sound dude? Check! Flyer to pass to your mates? Check! Craft materials and toy soldiers (who, on Monday, will learn to FLY...)? Check! ONE-OFF ILLUSTRATIONS by me, done especially for Monday, to be won as raffle prizes? Check! What else...? Err... working on it? If anyone fancies bringing one, please do! So. It's all set. Now all you have to do is turn up and bring EVERYONE IN THE WORLD. And then have fun! Hopefully, that will be the easy bit. The Social, 5 Little Portland Street, London, W1W Monday 15th September Doors open from 7pm. FREE! Oh yes – and buy the album :) Or post a review that might persuade some internet strangers to buy it, if you get a spare moment... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dirty-Birds-Kat-Flint/dp/B001E78D8E http://www.play.com/Music/CD/-/10/34/-/6279238/Dirty-Birds/Product.html?searchtype=genre http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/product.php?pId=6729190&pType=1 http://www.zavvi.co.uk/music-10+to+12.49-Indie-or-alternative-Kat-Flint-Dirty- Birds/879701/cr33c.r10.1/p.jsf Here's a nice review from the Daily Record, for now... I've still not gotten around to scanning the Q one, but I will! PS: I'll shut up about it soon. x

Eeeek!! I got my first ever review in a shiny, glossy, fat music magazine... which just happens to be Q! I'll scan it and post it as soon as I get a moment - short but sweet :) It was a relief - I've spent the last few days dreading it coming out... you know. Just in case.
Now: more launch party news... It's shaping up pretty nicely. Not only are the rules of Miniature Birdman almost ironed out in my head (make a tiny plastic man fly... contraptions and creations made on the night only (though you can plot, plan and design in advance), no lobbing, materials will be provided etc), but people seem to be mighty excited by the idea of the Mixtape Swap Box. To clarify: mix CDs (as opposed to actual tapes) are perfectly acceptable - more people have CD players anyway. It's up to you whether to a) make one along a theme and b) include a note/contact details so you can recieve adulation, worship and a new mixtape penpal-for-life based on the sheer geniousity of your song selection.
The bill is now firmed up too: Three official 'Ones To Watch' in one night, with me, Broadcast 2000 (www.myspace.com/broadcast2000) and It Hugs Back (www.myspace.com/ithugsback) all in one place! Broadcast 2000 and It Hugs Back are both much-loved by fans, music journos and various BBC radio dudes - and me. And now you, hopefully. Which is much more important. Not only that, but lovely comedy man Davis Wateracre is compering, which will be all the more splendid. So there you go.
Oh, and it's free!! FREEEE!!! See you a week on Monday?

One of the many things I'm obsessed with in a worring self-involved way is the progress of my last.fm page. It appeared one day, long before I understood what last.fm was, with about 12 listeners (mostly mates)... and over the last year or so it's been ticking away quietly to the point where there are almost 2000, which is lovely. And then I take a sneaky peak at the listeners section in closer detail and I'm greeting with the frankly marvellous site below...
Sorry if it seems like a weird thing to post, but I was taken aback (in an entirely good way) by the wee list of people who've literally just listened. Like, 17 minutes ago. Whilst I was sitting in my office contemplating the boredom of my day job, real life people I've never met were listening to songs I wrote, maybe as they sat in their own offices contemplating the boredom of their day jobs.
Ace.
That's all...

I have been away. I am now back with a vengeance...

FREE ENTRY. Doors 7.30pm.
Acclaimed alt-folk wordsmith KAT FLINT ("a great singer-songwriter" – Steve Lamacq) curates a night of skewed indie-folk to celebrate the launch of her debut album Dirty Birds on Albino Recordings (out 15th Sept).
Sets from BROADCAST 2000, fast-rising labelmate of Psapp and Emily Haines ("beguiling... a delight" – The Independent), secret SPECIAL GUESTS plus compere DAVIS WATERACRE fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe ("Warm & fuzzy... hugely likeable." – Three Weeks) presiding over the miniature Birdman Competition, graffiti tables, bring-a-mixtape swap box and more...
