it's really hard to find good music on the radio now. every radio station plays the same songs over and over again. it sucks!!
when i'm at work, i like to listen to music; that's the only thing that makes me go through the day. my job has "jack f.m." all day. i think i know every single song they play. but i have a radio in the kitchen and every day at 10a.m. i turn to 90.7 kpfk. they have a show called 'the global village'.
this is the best radio show ever! you can be sure that they would never play the same song twice, and they play music from around the globe and around the block. they even focus on specific genres depending on the day of the week. mondays the focus on jazz;tuesdays Beto Arcos play really good latin american music; wednesday the focus on middle eastern music; thursday, my personal favorite, john shnider plays from contemporary orchestral, jazz, avant gard, classical, to microtonal and the wierdest stuff; and fridays it's all about brazilian music.
so if you guys like good music, check it out. The Global Village kpfk 90.7 10a.m.-12noon monday through friday. enjoy!! Hugo

so this wednesday LA SANTA CECILIA celebrates 2 years of existance, yeaaahh! i started playing drums with the band about a year and a half ago and i would like to say that it's been a really fun time for me. Not only because i have the privillage to play with 5 great musicians, but because i can say i have a new family.
i have also met a lot of good people and have played at very fun places and stages. life is great right now and it's going to get better. and it's going to get even this wednesday night as we celebrate playing our hearts out.

Current mood: hungover
I think a lot of us come from rock/metal/punk background, right? well, let ask you guys something: doesn't it feel great to listen to your old rock records every now and then?
To me it is because it brings back good memories, it pumps me up with adrenaline and it brings out the inner child in me. Sometimes i forget that this music, specially METAL, was a way of life for me; in fact, i started playing drums because of this music. And although i can't listen to it super loud as i used to(it hurts my ears now) it's still very exiting.
Lately i've been listening to System of a Down, Sepultura, Slayer, Megadeth, messugha, Testament. last time at rehearsal we were watching a video of Cliff Burton from Metallica. a huevooooo!!
i know we all grow up and our taste for music changes with time, but you can't deny that it was great growing up been a rockero/a, been a rebelde and desmadroso!!
FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, I SALUTE YOU!!!
me despido bendiciendolos, en el nombre del Son, el Jazz y de Rock and Roll!!

so tomorrow morning i'll be getting on a plane for the first time and i am scarred as fuck. no joke.
i have avoided planes all my life (especially after watching La Bamba. "Richiiiiiiii") but i decided i have to get over my fear.
the plan will be to do one or more of the following A) get drunk as hell (although, if im too drunk they wont let me go on) B) take drugs (anyone have valium?) C) not sleep the night before (if im tired i will knock out in the plane....right) D) listen to meditation cd's on the plane (do these work? are they still around) E) go through hypnosis (does this only make you bark like a dog?) F) go to an intense work out @ a gym tonight (if im tired & soar i wont think about anything buy my physical pain) G) pretend i never saw the 1st season of LOST (did they ever make it out?) H) pray to every saint imaginable (can someone show me how to do this properly?) I) cancel my flight and find an alternative route by land (this one sounds pretty good right now)
if anyone has any suggestions to help me get through this flight or my fear of flying, please let me know. i welcome all suggestions.
see ya'll in L.A. soon gloria.....

I just wanted to let all of you know what a wonderful place tia chuchas is. I have been teaching a conga class every mon and wed for the last few weeks and i get to see first hand how much beauty this place gives to the local and extended community. the youth i work with are so bright and beautiful and are becoming fluent in so many forms of artistic expression. I encourage everyone to check them out and support them, for all that they offer. Peace Oso!!! www.tiachucha.com
