The entire interview runs about an hour and fifteen minutes long. Javier asks about my earliest attempts at comics, and covering lots of ground in between, we also discuss my latest work, THE ACCOUNTANTS. Enjoy!

WHAT'S THE ACCOUNTANTS?

THE ACCOUNTANTS is a comic written and drawn by Rob Osborne, and the first 8-page installment is competing on Zuda this month!

In a fluffy, dangerous world, Burt Burns and Slick Sanchez are certified public accountants. Their office resides above the Hideout Bar, and the bean counters spend much of their free time drinking and philosophizing there. But don't let their inconspicuous appearance fool you. These CPA's are involved in a deadly business. Burns and Sanchez are hit men. Sometimes it's a scorned lover who wants revenge. Sometimes a business conflict needs resolved. Burns and Sanchez don't really care about the client's motive, but the pair steers clear of the more dangerous hits. Anything involving the mob, drugs, gambling or prostitution is off limits for these assassins. However, Burns and Sanchez are growing frustrated with the nickel-and-dime jobs. They're ready take bigger risks and reap bigger rewards. Burns wants the fatter paychecks. Sanchez wants the fast action.
Can these killer accountants keep their balance sheet out of the red?

WHAT'S ZUDA?

ZudaComics. com was created by DC Comics to find new creator-owned webcomics. Each month, readers choose from 10 comics. The series with the most VOTES, highest RATING, most FAVORITES, and most PAGE VIEWS at the month's end is the WINNER. That comic earns a year-long deal and becomes an ongoing series.

I know it's a busy time of year. Your time and energy toward helping THE ACCOUNTANTS win is much appreciated! Thank you for your support.
I hope you enjoy THE ACCOUNTANTS!

If you're reading this blog, you probably already have issues 1-3 of The Nearly Infamous Zango, but I still want you to know about the Special Offer over at the Tyrant Store.

I'm offering the same deal that I offer at comic conventions. You can receive Zango issues 1-3 *signed* for 7 bucks. That's like getting a free issue, and shipping is free too.

This deal is only at the Tyrant Store!

Why would I be so generous? Because I want everyone to give Zango a try. And you know I love you.

Marvel's big summer event is here, and it's Secret Invasion. A variant sketch cover was offered with the first issue. So I staged a not-so-secret sketch invasion. Here's Lord Alfred Zango, Jr...As a Skrull!

(For those unaware, Skrulls are shape-shifting aliens in the Marvel universe. They have staged an invasion of Earth. But since they have assumed the shapes and identities of known superheroes, nobody knows who the Skrulls are. Thus, it's a secret.)

And for the cost of a donut, this somewhat beautiful artwork (plus the thrill-packed first issue from Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Yu!) can be yours! Ebay, baby.

How close to me would you feel knowing that you're reading the same comic book that I read? Answer: VERY close.

It's FREE! It's EASY! It's THE NEARLY INFAMOUS ZANGO 3! Hitting store shelves in July! Read it before you buy it!

Lord Zango pouts in his bed, but his pity party is interrupted by a ghostly foe! Van Freako goes on a fool's errand! Deacon Dread and Lady Nebula savor a quiet moment! Someone loses their head!

Demand ZANGO! Diamond order code: MAY083528

The second scintillating issue of The Nearly Infamous Zango hits store shelves today. So what's the lazy Lord and his dysfunctional family up to this time?

Lord Zango is no longer the terror of Metrotown. He now pursues a steady diet of daytime television. When Zango learns that his longtime rival has a new nemesis, his temper explodes and the couch catches fire.

In an effort to reclaim his notorious reputation, Zango enlists the macabre talents of Deacon Dread. They conspire to turn ordinary produce into a monster army. But the experiment goes fruity, and they must face-off with a bad apple of their own creation!

Go forth and demand Zango. And give your favorite retailer a kiss for me.

New interview with Yours Truly over at HeavyInk. We talk about The Nearly Infamous Zango and I ever-so-briefly get nostalgic about floppy comic books. Thanks Matt Springer. Here's a taste:

In future issues, Lord Zango will be haunted by a ghost from his past. Romance will bloom in the Castle Of Cruel And Unusual Occurrences. Appendages will be ripped from the body. Monsters will roam the city streets at midnight. Heroes will die. Fruit will attack. Heads will, quite literally, roll. Putrid stenches will waft from the laboratory of Deacon Dread.

And dearest HeavyInk, rather than "no image yet", perhaps this impressive press photo would do well? Definately. Feel free to use it. (Please note how I am straining to write a juicy peice of dialogue. Impressive, no?)

Also, I have to blow my own horn. By that I mean, trumpet the fact that Zango 3 is the Current Top Seller at HeavyInk. Right now. And yes, you can find issues 1 and 2 there as well.

Monday, April 28, 2008

The much beloved Ask Lord Zango letter column is taking the show on the road! Over at HeavyInk, you'll find a thrilling new contest. You can win original artwork, a gorgeous 8"x10" glossy picture of Yours Truly and signed copies of The Nearly Infamous Zango 1 and 2.

Plus, you'll be the envy of your friends and revered by your colleagues.

All you have to do is post your question and wait for the stupifyingly wonderific results. And when you think about it, everbody's a winner. Because Lord Zango is going to answer your questions.

Also, as of this posting, Zango 3 is the second best selling comic book at HeavyInk. (Some book called Amazing Spider-Man is first.) You may want to check it out, because HeavyInk always gives you 20% off cover price and free shipping.

How can you beat that? You can't.

For the love of all that's precious and beautiful on the internets, I blog. It's with little fanfare that I proudly announce the launch of A Very Important Blog. The somewhat official words and art of Yours Truly.

http://www.absolutetyrant.com/blog

For example, on A Very Important Blog you'll find a link to the Commentary Track I provided comicbookresources.com. And you'll find a link to Chris's Invincible Super Blog, where he writes, "...Zango is actually pretty darn funny, and in a way I didn't expect."

More to come.
