Current mood:Ready for turkey

Just want to remind everyone that time is running out to commission work for Christmas.  I have had a few early orders, and am finishing them up, but now becoming worried that the flood of orders will come too late for me to guarantee Christmastime completion.  Madison and surrounding areas have until the 10th, but not local orders (those that have to be shipped) need to be in by the 5th at the latest.

Why hand over what little money we all have these Holidays to major corporations?  Buy local, or at least buy from the little guys.  Remember, I am super cheap.  You can give personalized, one-of-a-kind gifts for around $50, and know that you have done your part to support local business.

If $50 is too much, let me know and we can find something smaller, or check out Dragon's Fire Creations out of Milwaukee for beautiful, inexpensive jewelry.

Current mood:  crazy

That's right, WTM is moving.  Actually, my family and I are being forced out of our current residence due to shady (at best) condominium sales here in Madison.  The owner of our apartment (not complex, just the individual apartment) defaulted on his mortgage and now we have to move.  So what, pray tell, does that have to do with you, my MySpace Strangers?

It means it's time to go nuts!!!  There is no way I am moving all of these tables and whatnot, so let's make a deal.  The vast majority of my merchandise is at least 50% off!  Selected pieces (to be determined by my wife) will only be slightly (25%) discounted, but for the most part it's dirt cheap.

Seriously, make me an offer, and chances are I will not turn you down.  I will even deliver to anyone within 25 miles for free, and anyone within 100 miles for $25!  You can't beat that, now can you?

Current mood:depends on the time of day...

So, I know this seems ridiculous, as it's only mid-October, but it's time to start thinking about shopping for the Holiday season.  Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not some crazy who buys Christmas presents in January or anything, and I think it's insane that I can't find what I need at Home Depot because it's full of decorations, but since you will all be commissioning pieces of Trash for your friends, it's time to start thinking about what you want!  Seriously!

Now, obviously I'm not that foolish to believe you all will order stuff, however, people have been, and others will.  That means each project will take a little longer, as I will be doing it alongside several others.  I figure local projects will take at least 3 weeks, while pieces that need to be shipped will want to be in 6 weeks in advance.  I understand that even by these estimates (and that's all they are) you have at least a month to order and not have to worry, but I recommend the sooner the better.  My family and I are being pushed into moving this month, on top of my wife working and going to school, both full time, and the normal everyday fun of three small children, it kind of leaves little time for WTM thought.  That is why I urge you to get your orders in early.  I spend all of my free time designing and such, so this will give us plenty of time to perfect your design in time to actually get it worked out and completed before December.

So start thinking, and remember, I DO SMALL PIECES, TOO!  It's not just tables, not even close.  Coasters, wall hangings in ANY size, serving and decorative trays, and pretty much anything else you can imagine.  Your favorite sports team's logo starting at $50 for wall hangings!  Coasters are only $10!  Trays from $20!  Seriously now folks, you can't go wrong with a piece of Trash for your best friend!

Current mood:  enlightened

Well, hello.  It's been awhile, hasn't it?

Last time I posted a blog, it was advertising my "Free Coaster Deal."  Well, let me tell you something.  IT WAS A FLOP!  Not one person purchased an exsisting piece, therefore earning themselves a free set of personalized coasters.  That tells me one of two things:

1.  Nobody wants my furniture in their house,

or,

2. You all suck.

Hopefully, 1 is the correct answer, however 2 applies to some of you anyway (Jolie).

Either way, I've realized it doesn't matter.  If nobody wants one of my creations, then that's OK.  I have actually been doing a steady (not good, but steady) business of commissioned pieces.

I want to thank everyone who has picked up, ordered, or are waiting for a piece.  I've came up with interesting ways to bring others' ideas to life with caps.

The University of Minnesota Hockey Table, with it's hockey stick supports and puck coaster was the most challenging and fun piece I've ever done, while Homer (Casey May) and the Cubs Logo (Matt from Club Tavern) are opening the door to recognizable pieces that can be easily replicated to order.  My favorite piece, the UC-Berkeley Dinner Table created for one of my ex-employees and baby-sitter (and yes, my friend), Brigit was awesome, and didn't take very long at all, was destroyed during shipping.  I am in the process of fighting the system (UPS sucks, the folks here in Madison have been great, but overall it is a horrible company to try to get anything resolved with) and getting the table back so I can (hopefully) fix it.  I will then attempt packaging myself and shipping through another source.

Anyway, all of these projects have been great in some ways, and terrible in others.  I have learned a lot about these transactions in the past few months.  From now on, I will give you options on your pieces.

Wall-hangings will be available framed, trimmed, or "in stone" which will give you cheaper or higher quality options.  Prices will be quoted up front, and half of the cost will have to be paid at this time.  As always, I will stay in touch throughout the process, and your opinion will matter, it's just now I don't have to stress about getting paid as well as worrying about your happiness.  Upon completion of your project, you will receive final pictures and shipping cost if applicable, and the remainder of the price including shipping will be paid at that time, before I ship or deliver your piece.

Hopefully this will keep stress and confusion to a minimum, and ensure that I don't lose any friends.

So, check out my slideshows for exsisting pieces for sale.  I'll even still throw in a free set of coasters of your choice.  Check out the other slides of past and future work, as well as my albums for more pics, and then

BUY STUFF!

Current mood:  confident

Check it out folks,

Prices are back on all items in My Photos!  If any of you remember, I removed my prices awhile back in order to try and better move some product.  Now, after some research and updating my inventory, I have brought back my prices.

I accept PayPal (I'm not a talented computer guy, so I will send invoices, no pay now buttons, sorry) and all prices are before shipping.  Understand, if you are buying a table, and I can't deliver it (you live more than 50 miles away) it's going to cost a bit to ship.  Tables range from 30 lbs. (most) up to 85 lbs. (Flowers) so keep that in mind.  However, note that I have dropped my prices quite a bit.  Any of you that remember my old prices will note a drop of 10-75% on the old pieces!!!

Not only are they cheaper, the quality is better!  While preparing for Sawdust City Days, I completely redid most of the tables' paint, and replaced wood trim, etc.  Believe me, these pieces are worth it.

Don't forget about artwork, trays, and coasters.  These items are small, inexpensive, and most will fit in flat rate shipping boxes or envelopes.  As always, coasters are fully customizable with your favorite brand's caps!

For those of you who enjoy my work, but don't see anything in particular, or just want your very own piece, I do commission work, CHEAP!  Wall hanging art depends on size, but range from about $35 for small pieces to $200 for huge 2'x4' pieces, and everywhere in between.  Commission prices vary greatly depending on the project, so just ask!  SERIOUSLY, this is what I like to do, so I will work with you, no matter what!!!

If you've made it this far, thank you, now keep going and send me a message, and let's create some White Trash together!

Current mood:  loved

Well, I am back from my adventure to Eau Claire and my first festival is now complete, so I just thought I would let you all know how it went.

Despite the constant threat of thunderstorms that could not only ruin the festival, but also my family's first camping trip, the weather turned out great.  I managed to get a wicked sunburn and we only woke up wet one morning.

With the weather bright and sunny, the only issue for most was the wind, but when you're selling tables, you don't really have to worry about your merchandise flying away.  Set up was easy, thanks to the fact that my father was in town to help, and the festival started without any issues.

As the four day festival got underway, it soon became clear that I was the vendor to see.  Now, don't get this confused with being the vendor to buy from, I was just the vendor to see.  I met SO many new friends this weekend, seriously like thousands of new friends.  Everyone had such great things to say about me and my work, and everyone asked the question, "Did you drink all those?"  There were, of course, the random passerby who would make it a point to stop and tell me that they could do that, to which I replied, "good luck," to which they replied with a roll of the eyes as they ashed their cigarette on their child's head as they pushed the stroller away (and I call myself WT), but for the rest of you, I just want to say THANK YOU.

I was interviewed by an AM station on Thursday afternoon and had an hourly blurb on Newstalk 790, thanks guys.  I also was interviewed on Saturday, and arrived at the fest on Sunday to find myself on the front page of the Leader-Telegram's local section!  The article was more than I could have dreamed of (I expected a sidenote, I got half a page) and really helped me make the few sales that I did.

So, sales were slow, but I was so well received that I feel confident that this WTM thing can  really go somewhere.  So, to all of you fans of the white trash lifestyle, and fans of my work:  Have no fear, I'm not going to stop anytime soon.

Below is a link to the article, and remember, all of my work is for sale, and I LOVE TO DO COMISSIONED WORK.  So, please drop me a line and let's work together.  I'm way cheaper than you think!!!

In case anyone is interested, the first set of WTM t-shirts are now available!  The idea on these was to grab the attention of the passer-by, so, they're a little over the top.  Check out the pics in My Albums, and tell me what you think.  I can ship them to you for $20, you can pick them up for $18, or if you think you're worth it, (possibly for advertising purposes) maybe we can talk about a deal, maybe even free!

However, if the whole "WTF, it's WTM!" isn't your style, just let me know, and I'll get you a basic t-shirt soon enough.

Current mood:all over the place

Hooray!  Last Saturday I received my information and vendor passes for Eau Claire's Sawdust City Days Festival!  If you don't know, this is a four day festival in Eau Claire's Carson Park.  Admission is free (yep, free) and there is a TON of stuff for the whole family, like WTM.  I am (tentatively) set to be about four slots away from the Family Fun Tent and just down the line from the INFLATABLE PLAYGROUND (sounds cool, thought it needed all caps).  I know, who goes to a festival to buy tables, right?  Well, I will be offering free delivery in the Eau Claire area,  as well as to anywhere in between EC and Madison, that way, you can buy your favorite piece, and not have to worry about a thing!  Still think it's ridiculous?  Well then, I will also be bringing along smaller pieces like serving trays, mini tables, wall hangings, and (hopefully) coasters.

SO THERE!  Free admission, free delivery, and so many lovely pieces by White Trash Mosaics.  I know it's out there, but I would love to see some of my friends there, so print this blog and bring it with you for a special MySpace discount of 25% off!!!  That's serious savings if you buy a table!

See you there!!!

PS  The festival runs June 12th through the 15th.  (Thank you One out of 200 Thousand!)

Current mood:  accomplished
So, I know, I'm late, but I've really been working hard to get this new batch of tables ready. Last week I proclaimed, "Seven new projects by week's end," and here it is Thursday of the following week. Trust me, I know, no one else is interested enough in this stuff to be upset, but I am. Proclimations are not something I make often, or take lightly, and while I may not be freeing the slaves here, I feel it's important to live up to your word. I apologize.

Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm proud to announce the addition of eight new completed projects to my stockpile of tables. This time around, I wasn't just messing around for fun, I actually have a goal in mind. I plan on taking this show on the road this summer, and visiting hopefully 5 arts and craft fairs throughout Wisconsin. The first one will hopefully be Eau Claire's 4-day Sawdust City Days Festival, June 12-15. Yep, that's right, I'm going balls out right away. First attempt a four-day event? DAMN RIGHT! So, I'm working on building up a good base of stock, not only tables, but also you will notice I've added artwork and wall-hangings.

You'll also note some familiar images on some of the pieces. In an attempt to bring my products to a wider market, I have been designing pieces with some old-school video game characters. I have one table and one wall-hanging finished, with another table soon to follow, and other ideas in the works (at least in my head.) You'll also notice A LOT of butterflies in my work. One of the festivals I am looking at entering is Butterfly Fest, end of story.

Lastly, you'll see I've changed my slides, albums and whatnot. The reason behind this, is so that I could remove my prices on the items for sale, and still make it known what is for sale and what isn't. Once again, this is merely an effort to bring my work to a wider audience, and maybe start moving a few more pieces. So, if you see something you like, send me a message, a comment, an email (whitetrashmosaics@gmail.com), whatever, and we can discuss pricing. I just want as many people to celebrate and display the White Trash I know is inside of them.
