DANGER DANGER, WE ARE LOOKING FOR TWO INTERNS FOR THE FALL/WINTER SEASONS!

GRAPHIC DESIGN/MARKETING AND PR

we are a clothing line, an independent art-based fashion project and a versatile collective of stylists and visual artists. this is so much more than a mere fashion label, we are an expanding international lifestyle brand for the electric and eclectic youth.

we're into indie fashion, electronic music, blogs, street fashion, djs, parties....we hope you are too. our designs are cutting edge, innovative....you must be too!
the rave crowd, party scene, eurotrash hipsters are our big markets. please be well versed in these environments.
we have a blast but we are also dedicated artists committed to making an impact by doing things a little differently. we aim to inspire others to create positive change while providing an alternative to the mediocrity of mainstream style, wether it's through clothing, dance music or events.
MOST IMPORTANTLY we are looking for someone who can think outside the box whose primary interest is graphic design *but* is also interested in various forms of online marketing and promotions.
i cant stress enough you must be organized!!

you'd be responsible for:
the development of our website and its maintenance::
i already have the ideas, samples done up in photoshop, the domain name is ready....all i need is someone to help organize my digital mess and actually put it on the web... in your style while still maintaining our image and branding. no flash or anything of the sort, just basic html, 4-5 pages, bright colors, geometrics, fluorescent love!

design, photo editing and retouching::
primarily converting images to graphic illustrations to use for promotional materials, flyers, business cards, etc.
designing logos
adding logos to images, updating our media/press kit and catalogs.
occasionally you'll be doing some beauty touch up work on raw files, correcting lighting, evening skin tones, color enhancing.

social networking and online stuff::
maintaining myspace/facebook fan pages, updating twitter, commenting, some blogging, updating the online shop when necessary, making custom logos for the sites, graphic banners and so on.
ideally we're looking for  someone who uses these sites anyways who can create some hype, make a scene.
addicted to facebook? cant stop tweeting? always have to know whats going on before anyone else does?
so are we!

photo studio::
light assisting during shoots and events, dressing models, keeping garments organized, helping on set, etc.

as creative director i'm becoming more and more swamped and its becoming harder to keep up around here.

DETAILS:
west coast internships (LA) begin in october. LA interns have the added perk of begin directly involved with our parties and events. other than assisting with shoots or events, there is no schedule of work times per se. we will have occasional meetings when necessary but most of the work for the graphic design/marketing internship can be done from a remote location via web/phone. you will have deadlines and must be able to schedule your own time to meet them accordingly.

be aware that things are changing quickly around here so this has the potential to turn into a long term partnership for the right person or team.

in return you'll get your fair share of food and drink during meetings, networking contacts, free clothing, fun times and the opportunity to showcase your graphic design skills with an internationally published and acclaimed fashion line.
our work is frequently featured in magazines and on blogs, this is an excellent way to get yourself out there while learning the ins and outs of running an independent clothing line.
LA interns get guest list for our parties and students, we will give you school credit too!

serious inquiries only for motivated and dedicated artists, please EMAIL US DIRECTLY
resetcouture@gmail.com with a link to examples of your work and a pic of yourself

tell us why we should pick you!!

thanks :)
xoxo

Heeey guys,
i just cant keep up with all the mail we've been getting so here are answers to your most asked questions.

unfortunately a LOT of things around here had to be changed due to recent problems so read on to hear whats new.

once again, please read this before messaging us because this will answer any question you may have....
at this point i'm seriously convinced most people in this industry are delusional and completely removed from reality. prove me wrong!

thanks,
kafka <3

NEW MODELS
Q: "hi, i'm a model and i was wondering if you are looking for any new models?"
"how would i go about modeling for resetcouture?"

A: this is probably the most frequently asked question around here.
we are always looking for experienced or unique models for OUR upcoming projects *but* for each one we seek out models that fit our criteria and the special needs of each project.
agency and represented models are obviously preferred priority, otherwise from this point on we require models to be a certain size and height.
girls must be at least 175cm/5'9, guys at least 180cm/5'11 tall, preferably in the 28-30/ US 0-2 size range. although we have made exceptions in the past, it is very rare that any exceptions will be made from this point forward unless you are absolutely to die for or can bring an unparalleled amount of energy, enthusiasm and style to our creative teams.
*our current priorities are slender european style male/androgynous models with strong bone structure and angular features.
once again, this is simply MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE at the moment and may/may not change in the future. if you don't work out for what we have now, you might in the future.

in the case of an open call you will see postings outlining what we are looking for at the moment. these are done most often for events and when traveling to a location where we may not have local presence established.

with this said you are more than welcome to message us stating your interest if you fit the size and height criteria stated above but i cannot guarantee a response.

otherwise, please understand that due to the overwhelming amounts of these inquiries, we may not be able to respond to every single one. we appreciate the recent talent and interest, thanks for understanding.

FEATURES
Q: "hi, i run a blog/site/magazine and we'd like to feature your work!"

OKAY!
email us with details on the feature and what you need from us :)

PHOTOSHOOTS/RATES
Q: "hi, i'm a photographer/model and i'd like to use your clothing for a shoot"

email or message us for our half and day wardrobe styling rates. include any relevant information on the shoot (date, time, location or set, model info/size, mua and hair stylists, purpose, publication if any).
we are available for local (southern california on the west coast and baltimore/dc on the east) and international projects.

a TWO WEEK NOTICE on any shooting date is required with a three hour wardrobe minimum. we expect to shoot between the hours booked, any time over the scheduled slot will be charged in fifteen minute increments.

rates are not negotiable but we will be available at a later date when your financial situation improves. abundance will get you a lot farther than scarcity.
alternatively, you may also purchase the pieces for an industry discount and in this case, shoot them without time constraints!

email us if you are interested in this option.

we reserve the right to just say no to shoots or individuals that will compromise our image, branding or name.

Q: "hi, i'm a photographer/model and i'd like to do a trade shoot to build my portfolio"

NO. NO. NO.
sorry but we can only do trade shoots for guaranteed publication (requires contact with the publication's editor). if we are testing for an editorials or one of our concepts (we will either contact you if your work is a good fit or post castings - models and photogs are more than welcome to apply if you fit our current requirements!)

we are not interested in building your portfolio for free. these clothes do no make or pay for themselves and neither will your portfolio if you want quality work. this is not negotiable. do not ask, i don't care how hot you are or who you know.

Q: "hi, i'm a photographer/model/hairstylist/mua and i'd like to get involved with one of your editorials or upcoming projects"

resetcouture is interested in working with industry professionals at all levels who can follow though with projects in a timely and productive manner.
message us with links to your work, contact info and any relevant info and we will respond if you have what we are looking for. chances are if you do not have a solid book, this won't work out.

please be aware that we plan to submit many future concepts for publication (print and web) therefore we expect dedicated and outstanding work from all members of our team.

although test shoots are trade work, it is an unparalleled opportunity to work in collaboration with a distinguished, provocative, creatively acclaimed independent fashion project.

we are in no ways lazy, we dont expect you to be either.
we commit to you 100+% so we require the same respect in return.
we seek to establish reliable, solid, exceptional teams for future projects.

TRADES/LENDING
Q: "hi, i'm a photographer/model/performer/musician and if you send me your clothes, i will do photoshoots and publicity"

NO.
we are unfortunately unable to do any lending or borrowing.
it is not financially viable for us, we cannot risk any damaged or missing clothing nor are we interested in working remotely with people we will never get to meet or interact with. in scenarios like these we encourage you to purchase the items or hire us for wardrobe styling.

we have done lending in the past on an experimental, trial basis.
so far its been more effort and/or trouble than what its worth.

and on the topic of publicity...
you doing publicity for us when i dont even know who you are?
are you delusional? industry gotten to your head much? hello ego trip?
LMFAO!!!!!

SHOPPING AND STORES
Q: "hi, i run an online store/shop in this location and we'd like to sell your pieces!"

our situation will be expanding in the next year to include small scale production. when this happens, we will be more than interested in having our stuff in your shop so keep in touch!!

we currently have samples plus 1-2 pieces of each style. we do not do duplicates unless its by commission, stock only highend super exclusive hand made pieces and custom garments. we are unable to accommodate any of the recent interest in selling our pieces at outside locations *at the moment*

Q: "hi, i'd like to buy a piece that is not listed on the online store, will you sell it to me?"

this entirely depends on your budget and which garment you are interested in.
many of our larger, more extravagant show pieces are not for sale.
we use many of these pieces for our personal wardrobe stock and styling commissions.
it doesn't hurt to inquire though, we may be willing to part with something for the right price. otherwise we can recreate a similar item through our custom order process.

Q: "where can i buy your stuff?"

email all orders, custom work and freelance projects to resetcouture@gmail.com

COMMISSIONS/CUSTOM ORDERS
Q: "hi, i'm a musician/play in a band and we'd like you to make outfits for our next performance"

please message us with your budget and what you are interested in.
once again, we absolutely cannot do any sort of trades with performers or musicians in return for publicity or anything of the sort.

Q: "how do custom orders work?"

you contact us with your budget and tell us what you want. you get three to five sketches that fit your criteria and pick one that you like best. you send us half the amount as a deposit via paypal or bank note. it takes us about two weeks to complete your garment (longer for extravagant pieces or multiples). once the piece is complete you get photos, notify us of any alterations. then you send the remaining amount  via paypal or bank note and we ship you your custom piece. simple as that!

EVENTS/FASHION SHOWS
Q: "we would love to have you show at our local fashion event!"
Q: "we are having a fashion show in ( fill in name of city ), are you interested?!"

yes.
please contact us with your budget.
depending on the type of event and considering that our schedule allows for it, we would love to be part of your fashion event.
all travel, lodging accommodations and security must be provided for out of town events.
for local events, we will bring our own security.
*security is absolutely not negotiable due to issues that have came up at events in the past year.

we cannot show at your event or benefit without any compensation.

"exposure" or "charity" does not make up for the time and energy spent on  designing a line, putting together a presentation, casting and fitting models, arranging styling teams and promoting.

not to mention that during any event garments always get torn, ripped, damaged, soiled or end up missing. we are unable to invest endless amounts of money/effort in return for your so called promotions or favors. while i understand that not every organization has adequate funding, we cannot risk the integrity of our designs in situations like these. your compensation must be equivalent to any potential loss that may occur.

INTERNS
Q: "i'm interested in interning, how can i sign up and what does it involve?"

we'll be periodically seeking out two types of interns:
one: design and wardrobe intern where you join us in studio and on call. you will learn sewing in haute couture style, assist wardrobe on shoots and editorials, assist seamstress on custom orders/new lines and contribute to the design process as a whole.
two: pr/marketing/graphic design internship that involves stuff like online promotions, graphic and logo design, maintaining the sites and shop, event planning, booking and the like.

early next year we'll be looking for two hot kids with mad style and karma to burn who wanna disco with the best in indie euro style...kids who shine, to bounce ideas off of who can throw the rhymes right back, well versed in the avant garde and the electro scene, people who just get our style, can take it and roll with it and put out the remix to boot.
in return we'll stuff you full of vodka and vegan food, you'll party with us til the sun comes up.
bring your insomnia, keep your ego and name books at home.

think you fit the bill? email us your info, a pic, experience, what you do, why you own, how you roll and we'll be intouch.

stay tuned for more details

finally got around to doing this, its still a work in progress but eventually all our editorials and series will be posted here in attempt to keep better track of all this madness :)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/resetcouture/

and in other news, i'm (slowly) starting to work on the website again....i know i've said it a million times before and never got around to actually doing it but this time i'm feeling it a lot more than ever, and i think its gonna be pretty fcking dope once it starts to materialize :)

AND even more news from the otherlands, i recently returned to LA with this odd, dualistic rush of inspiration tinged with frustrating cynicism (but a rush of sudden, unexpected inspiration none the less)....and have decided to throw myself into the world of filmmaking.
these crazy ideas have been brewing for awhile, and i have been so desperately craving the "something new" to replace the fringe insanity and ever growing fine line between love/loathing that this industry provokes that one night, literally, the script began to hit me like tidalwaves. it flipped my whole world into this cartoon shaded reality....like living in someone's dream then waking up. so we'll see where this path is headed but as of now i'm feeling the fire again.....and its hot, real hot :)

love and light,
kafka
