Release Date: Feb 24, 2009

Release Info:

Roberto Mendoza is best known as Panóptica, one of the members of The Nortec Collective.   As Panóptica, Mendoza released a string of EP's of pulsating minimal techno on London's Certificate 18 label almost ten years ago. He also released a collection of remixes of his tracks on Nacional (the label responsible for the Latin Alternative phenomenon in the US).

As his duties increased as a member of  Nortec Collective, with worldwide tours and plenty of dance and party oriented music, Mendoza decided to start a side project and create more personal music.  A couple of years ago he released "Canciones de la presita" (Songs From The Little Dam), a sweet collection of acoustic and electronic lullabies and ambient sounds.  An album that  was mostly inspired by his new role in life as a father.

His new album, If I Fall Asleep... I Crash, is a continuation of his previous work, if not a leap forward.  In it, Roberto Mendoza explores the post punk sounds that influenced him in his youth: the grimier sounds of the early 4AD sound (Xmal Deutschland, Dif Juz, The Wolfgang Press and This Mortal Coil), adding some electronic kosmiche spice, hazy dub and slow down minimal tech into the mix. A series of musical passages that flow in between dark undercurrents and blinding light.

The album contains collaborations with Flavius E. (Argentinean electronic music producer) and David J (of Love And Rockets and Bauhaus fame).  The album was mastered by Stefan Betke (Pole) with art direction by Rubén Tamayo (Fax).

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of one of our most respected friends, colleagues and artists: Cocó Ciëlo. Who was found dead in his Madrid apartment on the morning of Sunday. According to the news item published in the Spanish media, Cocó was slashed to death with a knife, no other details are mentioned. Cocó was half of the techno pop duo Ciëlo and also was member of Silvania one of Latinamerica's most pioneering shoegaze and techno acts. Alongside his musical partner Mario, both were responsible for some of the most memorable and cutting edge music to emerge from Spain in the last two decades. We will miss him dearly.

Fax delivers his sixth release, Yo Recuerdo on May 13th. Upgrading the sounds of his previous release, Primario, Fax continues the path into ambient and downtempo electronica. Whereas Primario was marked by a dark undercurrent of sound, Yo Recuerdo is a brighter affair. Yo Recuerdo is dreamier, closer to the sounds of Guthrie and Budd, but retaining the minimal electronic feel Fax is known for. And for those missing Fax dancier techno moments, there is a remix of one of the most memorable tracks on the album "Cuarto Para Tres". Album mastered by Fernando Corona (Murcof) with guest vocals by Florencia Ruiz and Uriel Villalobos (Perdutto).

TRACKLISTING:

1. Intro
2. Cuarto Para Tres
3. Concreto
4. Cielo Rojo
5. Rota
6. Yo Recuerdo (I Remember)
7. Bosque
8. Tormenta de Arena
9. Millas
10. Cuarto Para Tres (Dance Mix)

Carrie returns with her second album, 1981, on May 13th. This time around, Carrie's sound is expanded beyond the folkie twee indie-tronica of her first release, Honey Blue Star. Balancing lush and lo-fi sound aesthetics, Carrie's folksy mannerisms go in between The Postal Service and The Radio Dept. universes, landing in an unique and minimal melodic pop. New member Pelvis joins Carrie and contributes sounds and backing vocals to the album. 1981 was produced by Rubén Tamayo (Fax).

TRACKLISTING:
1. Take One
2. Feeding Little Dogs
3. Stumble
4. The Wrong Way
5. Road Season
6. Japanese Coffee
7. 1981
8. Instrumental
9. Srita. Cometa
10. Pollock
