"There's joyfulness to his songs, from their nice, crunchy guitars to the unforced vocals... this is an incredibly accomplished piece of work. His songwriting harkens back to simpler times (in the most positive way possible) and it's refreshing to hear something so immediately appealing." -Michael Edwards, Exclaim! Magazine, December 2007
"The twenty year-old singer/songwriter just released a self-entitled album capable of soothing the most savage of beasts. I didn't expect to be taken in quite as much as I have by Tim's music. He has a deliberate, feel-good pace and casual style on this album. Tim Gilbertson is well on his way. Expect great things and remember you heard it here first!" Ryan's Smashing Life, November 2007
"Simple, tight pop songs with electric guitar hooks and sleepy-eyed vocals... his gem of a debut record that reminds of a happier Pinback or less-happy Super Friendz. At just 20 years of age, expect terrific things from Gilbertson in the future." -Frank Yang, Chromewaves.net, October 2007
"The songs have a full band sound that fits somewhere between the Weakerthans and the Pernice Brothers both in the music and in Tim's vocals, which have the same hushed quality as Joe Pernice's. On the other hand, some of his slower songs share a bit more in common with Sebadoh... Overall, an impressive debut!" -Chris McFarlane, Indiepages.com, October 2007
"Gilbertson doesn't so much boldly proclaim his arrival as he gently kicks down the door with Palm Trees & Postcards, the opening track on his album. He's actually a bit of a softie -- employing hushed vocals, muted guitar tones and a sonic spaciousness used by several '90s slacker-rock acts (Pavement, Built To Spill, Dinosaur Jr. ) and a few '70s easy-listening groups." -Sandra Sperounes, the Edmonton Journal CD Review, August 2007
"The album is both melancholy and catchy-Gilbertson's somewhat wispy vocals mix beautifully with poppy guitar riffs and intricate bass and drums, and you end up with a vaguely depressing record that you paradoxically can't shake out of your skull. go buy Tim Gilbertson's self-titled debut album right now." -Lewis Kelly, Vue Weekly CD Review, July 2007
"Gilbertson mixes glorious power-pop with '90's rock - back when "indie" was called "alternative". Think quiet, breathy vocals, snappy guitar riffs and lyrics about escaping." -Sandra Sperounes, the Edmonton Journal, January 2007
