It's official! Tickets to the More Than A Zodiac Sign / Let Us Love New Year's Eve Bash are now on sale! We're selling tickets through Front Gate Tickets for $15 ($20 DOS, $5 for parents accompanying their children at the door only). The concert will be held at The Max on December 31st, 2009 and everyone is encouraged to come in costume (dressed as your favorite musician). There will be a costume contest and a red carpet backdrop where you can take pictures with your friends.

I'm also going to take this chance to announce the line-up. The Salutation, The Hit, and Red Car Wire will kick off the night with more bands (TBA) and Kyle Burns of Forever the Sickest Kids will help us ring in the new year with an amazing DJ set at the end of the night!

One of our lovely sponors, Subaru of America, will have a car display at the show so you can feast your eyes on some pretty sweet rides.

As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Gender: A woman is 100 times more likely to develop breast cancer than a man is.
Age: A person’s risk of developing breast cancer increases with age.
Personal History: Women who have had breast cancer (or other breast diseases) may develop cancer again.
Family History: If a woman’s close relatives have had breast cancer, her risk increases. It is very important to know the age at which these relatives were diagnosed.
The Breast Cancer Genes: “Individuals who inherit an alteration in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene are at an ‘inherited’ higher risk for breast cancer.”

The best available method for detecting breast cancer is mammography, but doctors use MRIs in some cases. Monthly breast-self exams are also recommended.

Visit www.nbcam.org or www.cancer.org for information about how you can help prevent breast cancer and school yourself on early detection methods.

I'm having a blood drive/concert called Rock & Drive that's being sponsored by Subaru of America on July 18th in Plano, TX. The American Red Cross will be facilitating the blood donations, and the Be The Match Registry will be registering people to be bone marrow donors. Usually, it costs $52 to register with BTMR, but Subaru is sponsoring the first 50 registrants!
If you're interested in being a blood donor, registering to be a bone marrow donor, or just watching the bands, keep your eyes peeled for more announcements or e-mail kreed@subaru.com for more info!

These bands will be performing at Rock & Drive: The Hit, Kid Liberty, Red Car Wire, Page 9, and Rescue Signals.
And if saving lives and listening to awesome music isn't enough of an incentive for you to come to Rock & Drive...

WE WILL BE GIVING AWAY FOUR BLINK 182 TICKETS!!!

All you have to do is be a blood donor or sign up to be a bone marrow donor and you will have a shot at winning one of two pairs of lawn tickets to the concert on September 23rd, which includes Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects, and Asher Roth.

PS: My birthday is coming up (July 6th) and instead of asking for gifts, I want everyone to donate to the ACS for my birthday this year.
As a lot of you know, my mom died of cancer on March 4th, and seeing as how she gave birth to me, it's only appropriate that I dedicate my birthday to her. The suggested donation is $23 since I'm turning 23 on July 6th, so log onto Facebook or go to my page on the American Cancer Society's website and donate!

Also, check out the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
The American Cancer Society is also "sponsoring" birthdays, and if you want more information about that, visit: http://morebirthdays.com/morebirthdays/

Two year old Eve is an adorable little girl. Like any parent, Eve’s mom and dad envisioned a bright and promising future for their daughter. Then disaster struck: Eve was diagnosed with acute leukemia. A bone marrow transplant can save Eve’s life, but she currently does not have a matching donor, and time is of the essence. Eve is not alone. It is reported that one in 200 Americans will receive a transplant with marrow, blood stem cells or cord blood in their lifetime. One in 400 will require cells from another person (a donor). Only 30 percent of patients have a relative who is a match. The rest must search the unrelated donor pool. There is an urgent need to grow the registry of potential donors so that all patients like Eve can have an equal opportunity to receive the transplant they so desperately need. Gift of Life will be hosting a donor recruitment drive at the Beachwood Mandel JCC, 26001 S. Woodland Rd in Beachwood, Ohio on Sunday, May 17 from 9am – 3pm and Monday, May 18 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. You can find out if you are a match for Eve and countless other children and adults by joining Gift of Life, an affiliate of the National Marrow Donor Program and the worldwide donor registry. Testing is fast and painless, involving only a simple cheek swab. Eligible donors must be between the ages of 18 – 60 and in general good health. The goal for this drive is 1,000 new donors. Since tissue type is inherited, like eye or hair color, Eve’s best chance of finding a genetic match lies with donors of Eastern European Jewish descent. A family friend wrote, “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for responding to this urgent call. And so does Eve, whose courage, humor, and unsinkable spirit – even at 2 ½ years old – are an inspiration to all who are lucky enough to know her.” Susan Weiss, Cleveland bone marrow Campaign Chair, has been working tirelessly with the Gift of Life recruitment team to ensure that the event is well promoted within the Cleveland area that she calls home. Her efforts and enthusiasm are invaluable to the success of the drive. Additionally, what makes the Cleveland drive unique is the fact that it will be managed completely by a corps of ambassadors, many of whom also happen to be Gift of Life donors. They are: Victor Amster, Micol Bayer, Donna Feldman, Faith and David Gilbert, Abbie Hirsh, Yosef Hochheiser, Ricky Marcus, Or Mars and Nancy Schaumburg. This drive is made possible with the generous support of the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation, whose mission it is to assist organizations and leaders to improve the health and well-being of the Jewish and general communities of the Greater Cleveland area, now and for generations to come. If you do not live in the Cleveland area, click here to register online! There are numerous drives underway for Eve, so please click here for an up-to-date list, as there may be one in your area!
