Documenting their time at the famed, Erik Rutan-owned Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Fla., Tampa's melodic death metallers the Absence are hard at work on their third album, 'Enemy Unbound.'

The 'magical metal mayhem' ensues while the bearded band give viewers a tour of Justin Reynolds' Pearl Vision, a listen of 'Merciless 2,' a look over producer Brian Elliott's shoulder and a super exclusive peek of the band enjoying 'The Fast and the Furious' (and offering an impromptu performance of the theme song) in the break room between takes.

"So far, everything is on track and going great," guitarist Peter Joseph tells Noisecreep. "We just can't wait to get this beast done and unleash it on the world!"

'Enemy Unbound' is due out sometime next year on Metal Blade Records.

Peter Joseph now playing Suhr Guitars exclusively! Im super stoked to now be with Suhr exclusively, and the switch couldn't have happened at a better time! Using and abusing the first Modern I got a few months back really helped rekindle my playing and has totally helped with the writing on our new record, "ENEMY UNBOUND". And it truly feels great to push a company that I can whole heartedly feel proud about, as well as the great help and support everyone at Suhr has given me already! A huge thanks to John, Ed and Mike, you guys rule! I can't wait to see what kind of sick guitars my future holds from Suhr! Peter Joseph/ THE ABSENCE Photobucket "It's great to have Peter Joseph on board. The Absence kicks all kinds of ass in the metal scene and they really can play. You know, we get artists and bands wanting endorsement deals on a daily basis and we don't take these things lightly. We're pretty picky about the artists that we want to work with and we all checked out The Absence thoroughly and really liked what we heard - that goes for Mike Ponce as well, our resident metal head. We will definitely make a strong effort to reach the broader metal market in the future as the Modern model (and its future variants like the 7-string and the 27-fretter) and the new amps we're developing for the future are so perfect for those types of sounds. Brutal, crushing, heavy, mean, etc. are all terms we like. But we want to add some musicality as well as precision to those adjectives and I believe that's what Peter was looking for when he hooked up with us. Metal market, here we come!" Whats up thrashers!  Once again, we need your help!  We want to know how you feel about the music scene today- bands, scenes, fads, trends, fans, labels, magazines, videos... you get the idea.

We cant really say what this is for right now, all we'll say is that you guys are what matters to us.. you make the scene, your voice does matter... so say how you feel and we'll do the rest.

So grab a donut, sit down and type away!  Thanks as always and you'll hear more from us soon!

Thrash!
Peter

Well the tour kicked off in L.A.  We got there early to catch the Insiferum and Amon Amarth show at the House of Blues in Anaheim. We were not allowed to play that show for reasons beyond our control. The show was cool and we hung out with some fans and friends. The followoing day was the show at the Avalon in L.A.
We've been having a blast with the other bands and the shows are amazing.
The fans are awesome and the shows are mostly sold out. We are in route to Edmonton at the moment. Canada has the best metal fans and the ketchup is great too. We have been going on early as we are the opener. we want to let all of our fans know this for they need to get to the shows pretty early. Amon Amarth is hosting meet and greets as well so dont miss out on that either.
We will be posting more reports via video when we get to Edmonton.
Thats all for now and Stay Metal!
