Notes: It may have been released more than a year ago, but The Clutters' raucous garage rock opus T&C has what Hollywood acolytes like to call ''legs.'' Spurred on by a high-profile gig at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival, placement in a Tony Hawk video game, play on Little Steven's nationally syndicated radio program and a mention by one of America's most important and influential music critics, Rolling Stone's David Fricke, T&C continues to find fans the organic way, by word of mouth. The two-guy, two-girl band, who are regarded as one of the best live acts in town, plan to return to the studio later this summer with T&C producer Jared Reynolds to forge a follow-up to T&C.

From the sublime to the ridiculous: The Austin-based Chicken Ranch Records sent me an advance copy of a CD from The White Ghost Shivers. Never heard of them? Me either. Folks, they're just bizarre, even more so than The Gourds. They have kind of a Dixieland-meets-hillbilly-meets-ragtime sound, and they're a little filthy to boot, so basically, I love 'em. As if their whole vibe weren't cool enough, they also cover "Weed Smoker's Dream," the seductive song that Jessica Rabbit sang in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". Delicious.

The debut recording by Automusik entitled "The Hound Dog EP" is now available on iTunes.
