Current mood: pretty
Hey guys,
So we've been doing a bunch lately. Finishing up a new EP, booking shows (and then playing them), eating buffalo wings, the usual. So here's a brief update:
1. For those of you who do not know, a friend of ours from High School was murdered about two weeks ago. His name was Dave Sale and he was beaten to death in the parking lot to Citizen's Bank Park by 3 horrible horrible individuals. There was alcohol involved and it was apparently a driving factor in this situation, please drink responsibly. Many of our songs discuss alcohol consumption and partying, just please know the line better than these murderers did. This obviously was unexpected and has taken our hometown by surprise. We will be playing two shows as a benefit for Dave's family and friends, we were honored to be asked to play. Please come, have fun and contribute. These things, while horrible, can turn out some good by bringing people together and that's what we're going to do at these following dates:
August 12 at Reeds in Lansdale with our friends PersonL and Drop Anchor. Admission is $10, donations will be accepted.
August 28th at Marjeanes in Lansdale, Dave Sale's Beef and Beer with PersonL and Windlestrae. Tickets are $30 and this is the function where we truly hope to raise money and help his family.
2. Shows shows and more shows: Check us out because we're coming 'round your way:
8/13 The Trash Bar in brooklyn tickets $6
8/15 The Kennett Flash with Hippocampus (this event is BYOB), but your tickets now online for CHEAP https://www.etix.com/ticket/servlet/onlineSale?action=selectPerformance&searchType=venue&cobrand=kennettflash&venue_id=5636&performance_id=1021177
8/21 PersonL's Record Release show at Mannaechor Field in Doylestown 9/8 World Cafe Live Upstairs w/ Andrew Jude. 9/27 The Note in West Chester w/ Rob Snyder
which leads us to...
3. We will be releasing this new 5 song EP on October 20th with Sister Hazel at World Cafe Live Downstairs. This show is going to be awesome and we're so excited for it. Details: http://tickets.worldcafelive.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=3134
4. Look for a new Myspace and Website on September 1st.
I will try to keep these short so you actually read them, so, that is all.

YO,
So let me first extend a huge THANK-YOU to everyone who voted in Musikfest. We ended up winning the grandprize, which means we'll have a camera crew following us around and we'll be invited back next year. Oh, almost forgot, we'll be playing August 4th at 9:30 on the Plaza Tropical Stage. It should be pretty-ah-pretty good.
Also in current news, WE'RE RECORDING ANOTHER ALBUM. We're so excited to be getting the new songs to you guys, there's going to be another 5 song EP coming your way Late August-Early September. Our friend Steve LaFashia from Jealousy Curve will be helping us lay the tracks down and Grammy Winner (yes, those Grammy's) will be mixing the thing and making sure we sound nice and badass. More Details to come, but we are so happy with how this EP is turning out, there's going to be some great tracks on there.
As you will notice in the coming days, we've sprung for a new Myspace page. You can thank our Photographing friend Alex (aka Smokey) for taking the shiny new pictures of us that will be on it. Highlighting the page will be the rest of our awesome summer dates that are on the way. So pay attention cause we're coming to you...
Catch you soon,
Parkwright

YO SUCKAS...
Check this out, we got blogged about by a newspaper. If you ask me, newspapers blogging is very counterproductive to their whole "not becoming obsolete" campaign...but as long as they're talking about us, who cares. READ:

Hello all, We all hope this young summer is finding you well and happy. I made a promise to myself back in February when I was walking around the city to not allow myself to get use to the nice weather all summer. The winter will be here before we all know it so make the most of the sun. We wanted to make you all aware of some cool pieces of PW media we have right now. If you look us up on YouTube you are sure to always be finding new videos of us. We will always keep you updated when we put something up but sometimes people in the crowd take video and we never even know it so always be searching to see what we are up to. Here are some videos we want you all to know about right now Video one - This is a great short film about Parkwright. Who we are, what we are doing and why we are doing it as well as a sort of behind the scenes about how we wrote El Train Girl. Check out this video very cool! Video 2 - A "music video" about our bus trip to NYC and the Bitter End set to that night's rendition of 2x2 Video 3 - I cant believe how old this video is now (just about two years) but this is a great way to see how Parkwright really began. We we had much nicer hair cuts back then. Great behind the scenes look at Marybelle. Check these out and also PLEASE VOTE FOR PARKWRIGHT IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY! WWW.PARKWRIGHT.COM TO HELP US PLAY THIS YEAR'S BETHLEHEM MUSIKFEST. THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR US PLEASE HELP OUT! thank you all! CJ and Parkwright

Alright so a few weeks ago we informed you - yes you, my dedicated blog reading fanbase that never, ever comments - that we were selected into Musikfest's Mid Atlantic Band Competition. Well we got through the first round of vigorous voting and have moved on. We're now pitted against 9 other very well qualified bands (who out of sheer self-interest I will neglect to name here, sorry lads) in the second round of voting. This voting period BEGINS TOMORROW MORNING, JUNE 2ND AT 10AM AND ENDS JUNE 20TH AT MIDNIGHT. If you would vote for us it would be very much appreciated, because we'd love to rock Bethlehem (hard). Speaking of Bethlehem, if you are a burglar specializing in breaking into cars parked at the Hotel Bethlehem...FUCK YOU. Have a fine day and comment if you so please...lets get a dialogue going people. skidoosh GO VOTE

There are huge acts that are going to be playing this thing: George Thorogood and the Destroyers (One bourbon, one scotch, one beer - badass) The Wallflowers (spawn of Bob Dylan - BADASS) The B52's (theme song from Rocco's Modern Life - Badass) Puddle of Mudd (greatest lyricist of our time) Third Eye Blind (sing beautiful pop songs about Meth - Badass) ...you get the picture Voting started yesterday actually...please head here to vote, we'd really appreciate it
Also, we just got ourselves a website...why don't you check it out. Its just in its begining stages, but don't you worry, its almost here

Yo Gang,
WE LOST!!! We were in a contest to be a featured song in Konami's upcoming Rock Revolution video game (a ghetto version of Guitar Hero). It would've been awesome/hilarious to be able to play our own song on a video game, and then proceed to get crushed by 12 year olds at it. Oh well, at least they chose "Dancin' on the Tracks" out of a few thousand submissions!
We've been taking this show on the road recently by playing down in Baltimore last week, heading up to New York this weekend and Lancaster April 17th. We have some great shows coming up and we're real excited to see all of you. We've been demoing pretty hard, laying down about 10 tracks, we really want to get these songs into a producer's hands, so they can turn them into ideas in our heads into well-polished gems.
Keep posted with us, new Myspace and website are on their way, we've been smiling for the camera's as much as possible too, so look out for new promo pictures.
As always, you can reach us instantly by sending us a message or emailing, parkwright@gmail.com. We'd love to hear from you.
Later all,
George and Parkwright

Hello all,
Unfortunately, Parkwright has to drop off the penn state show at SOZO. We ran into some timing and scheduling conflicts and it was in our best interest to drop off. Sorry for the last minute notice. Please go out and support the other bands. Hopefully we will see you all soon. Thanks, Parkwright
