If you are at all interested in my random musings come on over to http://hilaplitmann.wordpress.com/
let's see how long I can keep this thing going...

Eric is the good blogger.
I'm terrible.
I never know what to write about and the amount of constant inner-criticism is stifling.
He's basically good at practically everything, including an uncanny persuasiveness, in which the outcome is inevitably one of his friends painfully trying to create something by themselves.
The inner critic followed me very obediently into this venture as well. But this time I'm actually enjoying the pain.
Thank you, Eric, for convincing me to begin writing my own songs about 4 years ago.
Here is the first (VERY ROUGH!!) demo we've recorded. The Reckoning. I wrote this one for Julie, my dearest friend. More to follow. Hope they don't suck.
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.

For those of you that may enjoy contemporary classical music (this is the GOOD kind of contemporary music - melodic, dramatic, unusual and extemely engaging), I just realized you may be interested in some of these.
I have three CD releases so far with music by David Del Tredici (a truly brilliant composer, in my opinion, and a great friend...). They can all be found on Amazon (search under 'Hila Plitmann') - here's the link:

Phew...I see why it's called a link... *)

Well here I am again...dust still settling from my baby-mooshed brain.

A week after a Los Angeles Philharmonic concert with some of the most difficult, gruesome music I've ever laid ears upon, it's so wonderful to just sit back and listen to something beautiful...

I've added two new short little bon bons from the soundtrack to "The Da Vinci Code", and a new photo of composer Hans Zimmer and I at the Air Recording Studios in London *)

What a friggin' adventure!!! It's requires such a different set of triggers than what I'm used to - recording some little bit over and over again and trying not to think too deeply about it (a new, shiny array of judges to contend with inside...).

Learning that you have to simply trust the people at the other end (control freak alert!!@!), that they know what it is they want and will make is sound good.

The recording sessions were this strange combination of fraternity dorm room mood (those guys work such hard, intense, long hours and - THANK GOODNESS - had some outrageous senses of humor) and one of the most professional environments I've ever been fortunate enough to experience. Phew, that was a very lengthy sentence...

I am so glad and grateful that I did this and can't wait for the next one...
