Hey what's up friends It has been a while since we have let people know whats going on in the world of Random Orbits and since its 2:15 AM and I can't sleep I figured its a good time to type some shit!  We have not been playing much since we returned from tour in August because Blake has been enlightening young minds as a High School teacher which is pretty awesome.  Our new album SAFETY MEETING was just released last week on HIGH SPEED FLOWER RECORDS in Japan...yes, the physical copies are only available in Japan but we have them available for donation downloads at http://RandomOrbits.BandCamp.com In our down time we have added on long time friend of the band and awesome guitarist Tyler Gibson to come shred and make Random Orbits a bigger, sweatier cacophony of punk rock music.  We were recently featured on the absolutepunk.net's Absolute 100 which is a list of 100 bands all over the world that they think everybody should listen to...so thats pretty cool, thanks AP.net! We are more PN.org kinda guys ourselves but we thank you anyway!

We are really stoked to write songs as a 4 piece and to rework a few of the choice nugs into something better than we ever imagined.  Our intent is to write 7 inch this winter and record it once we return from our January Pacific North West Mini Tour (check the calendar for dates) We are going to be adding a few local shows to our concert calendar for December that hopefully will not disappoint!

For all you Northwest punks out there, please go sign up at www.NWPUNKBOARD.com to keep up to date on whats going on around the PNW

Take it easy and next time you hear from us your ears and minds are going to melt to shit, we promise

HOLY BARTENDER TOUR

.. ..

Just rolling into a sleazy hotel off the Sunset Strip in Hollywood and just realized that we have been on tour a full week now! Pretty awesome shit!  Here is a recap of how things have gone down so far!  The dudes in Heroes Amongst Thieves all got shitty “tour” tattoos at the Mirkwood in Arlington and we definitely weren’t metal enough for the crowd but it was OK because Blake got to eat a bunch of vegan food.  Seattle at the Bit Saloon was an absolute blast and it was great having Seattle really represent for us!  The Damage Done was fucking awesome as always and we all got drunk. We ventured into Raymond Washington and managed to not get murdered and ate a bunch of really strong brownies and had one goofy evening…set up a great DIY stage and made that shit happen!  Rolled into California and played some bust shows in Redding and Stocton but we managed to get away with not having to pay a multiple hundred dollar bar tab and Bones hooked it up with some mushies!  We had a rough night drinking rum on KC from heroes sister’s front lawn and ended up having the cops pull out some members of Heroes out of the van at 3 AM!  After a lot of apologizing we headed to the beach and then fell in love with Santa Cruz. We got a hotel right off the beach and checked out the board walk before the show, ate some brownies and just hung out by the beach!  After the show in Santa Cruz we gobbled up the mushrooms and hung out on the beach drinking Jameson and herbing til 5 AM!  We couldn’t bring ourselves to back track to Modesto so we bailed on that show and headed south towards Hollywood!  We ended up in Pismo beach and didn’t have a place to state and couldn’t afford a hotel so we camped in a parking lot behind a bar we got drunk at and the cops once again interrupted us and at 3 AM they made us pack up camp and leave!  Snuck into a state campground and crashed until morning.  Had a long drive into Hollywood from Pismo and hung out at the Whiskey A Go Go making a whole lot of new friends! Met an awesome dude named Jerry who brought me into the “Compassionate Care Club” and bought me some medical herb which I am about to enjoy right now!....DAMN this “Blue Dream” is exactly what the name says!

.. ..

So far the tour is one big gay joke and tickle fest!

ALBUM UPDATE: We don't really know what the status of Safety Meeting is right now...We re recorded the guitars and vocals and just waiting for them now...We are going to make the songs available for down load at some point! We are planning on recording 2 or 3 NEW songs before summer, who knows maybe we'll cave in and make a 7 inch or something!

In other news, its 42 degrees outside and I see snow flakes blowing around. Weird huh?

Here is the Interview we had at our show last week!

Random Orbits rocks the Toolbox Jam.

The
smell of beer and incense filled the air in a large garage right off of
Reecer Creek Road. This hot spot for local bands, called the Toolbox
Jam, was ready to rock Saturday, Feb. 28.
The Toolbox was slowly filling with people as the band Random Orbits
checked their instruments in preparation for the show. Senior tourism
major, lead vocalist and guitarist, Steven Smith, joked around with the
crowd while senior history major and Random Orbits drummer, Blake West,
did a quick solo.
“We compare our sound to making love,” Smith said. “First our sound
is really fast then it gets really slow, then picks up again.”
As soon as the first note was played, the entire crowd of
approximately 35 people got out of their plastic lawn chairs and onto
their feet. Another local band, Heavy Metal Mullet, had opened up the
show for Random Orbits and not one fan left their seats for the band.
It was evident that the crowd had been impatiently waiting for the main
event, Random Orbits. Bass player Ryan Daley did one last check on his
guitar and then it was show time.
With song titles such as “Legends of Beer Pong,” and “League of
Extraordinary Assholes,” you can bet that there was never a dull moment
to their performance. There was a constant fast-paced rock sound to
Random Orbits, but every now and then they would slow the beat down.
The crowd stayed on their feet the entire time and cheered often as
band members belted out lyrics.
“[Random Orbits] have good energy,”said Tanner Dodzer, a history
graduate student. “They’re good and sound a bit like Fugazi; they’re a
tight punk band.”
Daley and Smith have been playing together for three years and
jammed often together in high school. They got lucky and found West
through a MySpace ad. Smith simply put up an ad saying, “We want a
drummer who doesn’t suck,” and West was the only one to reply.
The band was named after a “sweet painting by Ralph Steadman called ‘Random Orbits,’” said Smith.
Everything seemed to click from there and for two years they have
all been playing together. The band recently got signed by Japanese
Record label Highspeed Flower Records, and  it is the only American
band on this label. With the help of the signing, Random Orbits will be
coming out with its second record in September of 2009, titled “Safety
Meeting.”
Smith believes that listening to the popular band Green Day is what
started his passion for music and made him want to start his own band.
“If you ever want to start a band you’re going to work your ass off,” Daley stated.
Random Orbits and a few other bands will perform again Friday, March
13 at the Toolbox Jam. The bands play from 7 to 11 p.m. and no minors
are allowed after 10 p.m. For more information on the Toolbox Jam spot,
look them up on MySpace under “Toolbox Jam.” Also, more information
about Random Orbits and upcoming shows can be found on its MySpace
page.
“We fight constantly but we get sh-- accomplished ... It’s all worth it,” Daley said.

Hey Yo, this is Sauce checking in to type up a little bit about what we got going on right now.  This week we finished up recording 6 new songs that we are going to have a very limited release of, these songs are the SAFETY MEETING SESSIONS we recorded them with our friend Tyler Gibson with Danger House Productions.    Songs that will eventually be on something bigger, maybe a full length next summer.  We have almost got a new rehearsal studio locked up which means we can start pumping out the tunes once again.  Winter is coming and thats when we get all our best writing done, all snowed in and HIGHbernating. Anyways, keep checking back and we will have better mixes posted soon and have all the songs available for download on our upcoming website.

Peace

Sauce and hey look Blake and Ryab just showed up, time for a safety meeting!

OUR JAM SPOT BURNED DOWN. WE LOST MOST OUR STUFF...WE WILL STILL FIGHT!

So, yeah…things are looking really shitty right now for us but things could have been a lot worse. There were about 40 fire fighters trying to put out the fire all night and they managed to somehow save most of our bass equipment, our PA head and a few random pieces of the drums…guitars amps, one guitar and most drums are being considered a total loss at this point because the roof collapsed.

The place that we jammed at was sort of an under ground for local musicians and artists and we are not the only ones at loss. Others lost much more that we did and our hearts go out to everybody…when you lose a drum kit or a guitar, it honestly feels like losing a part of your self.

SO what does this mean for Random Orbits? We are going to try not to miss any shows over this and hoping that insurance will cover most of the damage…we will need to find a new (less flammable) spot to jam and write. We are going to continue on our album using borrowed equipment and support from friends.

just remember, you cant burn the ROCK!

What is going on everybody? Things have been pretty fucking awesome lately to say the least in the life of the Random O!  We played last night at the Ruby House with Blane and Breaking the Sky.  I had never really heard BTS before and they fuckin blew me away, big props to them.  Blane is halarious and they rock hard...but I didnt enjoy seeing chips balls everywhere and they all kept busting ass!

the show got started late because nobody had showed...but after about half an hour there was a pretty decent crowd.  We had all been drinking and smoking in large amounts so the wait was no biggie.

BESSIE AND MEGAN DROVE ALL THE WAY FROM SEATTLE AND IT WAS FUCKING KICK ASS GETTING TO SEE THEM!

I got to sing on "wolverine" with Blane...made my whole night...Random Orbits ended up playing last and we did what we do and everybody looked like they had a good time!

Met a dude who was friends with the singer to blue sky mile and talked to him about how amazing they were.

Blane was supposed to crash at my place, we went to robbers roost and got pizza...made fun of blakes vegan pizza but i wanted to eat it.  drank some more...slipped over a railing and almost fucked up my face...but i got good reaction time for a 240 pound drunk kid.

blane was still hungry so they went to get more food at arbys, and they never returned. hahaha

anyways, we started writing some new songs and are gearing up to hopefully record 10 or 11 songs this winter break...we are just poor.

Fuck Guitar Center.
Fuck Crate.
