That's right, Andalou is over. No more hot chicks in short skirts and tight dresses, all night shots, drunken debauchery, or adoring fans for us....at least not in this band. The members of Andalou are starting their own projects and will soon be conquering the world... separately.

Andalou's five-song debut offers much to recommend it. The San Francisco band's four members certainly know how to play their instruments - namely electric cello, guitar, bass, synth, and drums - and feel their way along tense alt-rock contours with remarkable chemistry and professional polish, especially for a group barely a year old. — Nate Seltenrich, East Bay Express

So the CD is out and will be available for purchase at our show on Thursday, 5/29, at Amnesia. There are a couple of people we need to thank....
....The oh' so awesome Elyse Shore for playing violin on Vertebrae and the intro of 77. These songs were good, but with her, they are great. Maybe she will play a few shows with us...if you're nice and say pretty please.
...The always awesome and talented Andy Kuno for taking the band photo on the back of the CD, and our recent band photos. We were almost escorted out of the Yerba Buena Center a few times that night by security and had an almost brawl with some young delinquents when we wouldn't give them a cigarette but it was well worth it.
The CD cover art was done by yours truly (Jhina) but I don't get any thanks cause I am in the band and that's what I do. Sha also put together all of the graphics and stuff for the final layout and because of that, we love her.
So go to our shows and buy our CD. Do it now.

We finally finished our EP, Defaults in Design, yesterday and have also decided on a new band name. We are now "Andalou", if you haven't figured it out by reading anything this myspace page. We will be pressing the CD and will hopefully have it done by our next show, May 29th, when we play with Whitey on the Moon at Amnesia. The songs will also be available for purchase through myspace (well as other places where MP3s can be purchased) soon. In the meantime, enjoy listening to the songs on this page and let us know what you think.

We are almost done with our first EP (which was recorded at the Atomic Garden by the oh so awesome Jack Shirley Jr.). We do final mixes and mastering next week and then it's out to press, baby.... assuming we can all agree on a name. Unfortunately, the name Kristeva will no longer be our band name but we are coming up with some interesting ones and hope to have a winner real soon. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, enjoy our video of us playing our song "77" at the Expressions webcast back in March.

For those of you who are impatient, like me, and want to know what we sound like (I already do) but don't want to wait until January for some recordings, we are playing another show at House of Shields, downtown SF. We played our first show there, back when we had only 5 songs and no guitarist. Now we have more songs and Devin on guitar so you don't want to miss hearing how much our songs have evolved. It was a fun show then and this show will be even funner*.
*Note: For those of you who are members of the grammer police, "funner" is actually a word now. Woo Hoo!
BTW, I am actually shocked to see that people are reading this blog. Weird. We actually have blog fans. Who would have thunk?

So after arranging our schedules and figuring out when we could practice, which wasn't easy, (Sha is on tour in Aussie land with Area 27 and Jhina is in BFE, Missouri in November. Devin is in Turkey in December.) we get an email from the guys at Expressions saying our sessions, which were scheduled for early December, were cancelled due to low enrollment, or something like that. We are rescheduled to record in mid January...hopefully. Guess no Christmas music for you. Were you a naughty boy or girl???
