msg from jamie...

Hey gang. If you live near NYC & don’t have anything to do at 8pm on Wednesday, February 18th, come see the Loveblisters play at Kenny's Castaways at 157 Bleecker St. I’m filling in on bass for Lou who is on tour with another band. “What do the Loveblisters sound like Jamie?” Well, that’s a good question reader-of-this-post! They sound like a mix of ELO, Queen, The Beatles & Supergrass. “Oh that sounds really cool Jamie!” I agree & hope to see you there so we can share a beer in honor of Lou missing both the beer & the free trip to NYC!

ok started vocals yesterday after touching up a tiny gtr part... got lead vocals & doubles for one song complete... originally we were hoping chris would be doing some harmonies this time around since he's been singing them live for sometime now... well it looks like that might not be happening thanks to the current economic crisis... he is suspending all musical endeavors & is flying back to washington dc... his harmony performance has been postponed indefinitely... hmm, it was either that or he's not feeling well... gosh i wish i could remember what he told me... oh well here's some pics

ok so guitars will be done in about 2 hours... i have a tiny thing to add to one song but i still need to finish up some work for a different band, have lunch & feed myself some poisonous caffeine... what a terrible addiction i have... i've tried on 4 separate occasions now to start drinking ice tea but i think my taste buds are ruined from years of touring & drinking sugary bull shit (trust me, i'm sure the science checks out on that... don't even worry about it)

upon completion of the aforementioned gtr part, i shall begin vocals... i still have to write / rewrite some lyrics for 2 songs but i'll start on what i can sing & then go from there... necessity has always been the best motivation for me

for those interested (aka studio nerds)... i've included some pics of the gtr setup... anyone who has recorded with me knows i like to use a multiple mic configuration for gtr sounds... after i had it all set up, i changed my mind decided to rely soley on the ribbon mics... ribbon mics can be pretty dark sounding in comparison to a typical dynamic or condenser but they eq very well... after some boost up top & a little lo cut @ 70 hz... bingo!... i ended up using the marshall for everything except 3 simple overdubs... i also used the Eleven plug for the solo of "you got lucky"... i like that thing a lot

intial setup:

revised / simplified setup (much better):

hey gang, wooly here... so the first 2 days we're spent teching & tracking drums on 4 songs... the way we typically work is we cut basic tracks really fast & then the rest of the time we screw around... we used my kit & the really the only out of ordinary thing we did was use slightly lower snare tunings

day 3, bass on four songs... we used 2 rigs... a genzebenz head into a fender rumble bass 4x10 & a fender bassman combo protoype thingy... we drove everything HARD!
