Hello from March 2009
Here is a clip filmed at the Deformati 8 piece Experiment on Pi Day 2009 (3.14.09) at the Keg'n'Cue in Charlotte, North Carolina, US. This is the audio from the microphone built into the camera.
Sounds great for a video camera , so we know that our dynamics in the room were decent.
The great news is that we recorded an incredible 16 tracks using a hard disk recorder placed in the middle of the stage.
This means that soon there will be a better version from this same show! Until then here are some details of interest:
On the table to my right is a sub mixer for all the live PA microphones, plus returns controlling the levels of the effects.
The back line consists is a wall of amplifiers. Keys to violin to guitars to bass things, aligned left to right. The left wing extends to contain two full piano/keyboard stations manned by Bryan Holt and Scott Thompson. The right wing anchored on the tall 3-10 Bass amp, is "drumland". As the bass amp rings through several tom tom drums manned by Ben Rollins, Artie Denman rounds off the edge of the stage, right up where the audience can see him and his stick action in satisfying detail.
In the middle of pianos and drummers facing off, you'll find Timothy, Matthew Butler, Sunny Glottman, & Brennan Stultz (House of Wax, Brooklyn, NY) exchanging guitars, microphones, and various percussion items.
Everyone involved had at least another major task to perform involving the production of the event and everyone rose to the task and performed wonderfully in all ways.
Please, enjoy this clip of Job Is Done (or the Time Traveler Song) until the actual job is done of mixing the multi-track!
