We are very proud to announce that The Boston Phoenix in their annual "Best New Bands In America" search have selected The Demon Beat as the best new band in West Virginia.

They had some pretty interesting things to say about us, namely some stuff about bongs and Adam's facial hair. Check it out here

Here's a snippet of what they had to say:

"Frontman Adam Meisterhans can shred supreme, and he’s also got a fee-rocious set of pipes. When he tells you repeatedly what a bad man he is in the wickedly delightful “Bad Man,” you’re inclined to be-lieve him (and not just so he’ll quit screaming your eyebrows off). As skilled with bong-clearing ballads (like “You Only Love Me When You’re Stoned”) as they are with punch-drunk CCRisms (“Memory Ain’t Enough”), the Demon Beat clearly love proving that the best blues can be found in a bruise."

The article featured other bands such as Maps & Atlases (Sargent's House), Heartless Bastards (Fat Possum), and Past Lives (Suicide Squeeze). Pretty cool.

Also, we have been busy adding plenty of new shows, so be sure to check them out to see if we are making a stop in a city near you.

There's some very big news just around the corner, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Much love,
The Demon Beat

A truly amazing thing happened last Saturday night at The Blue Moon Cafe in Shepherdstown, WV.

A diverse combination of local (and not so local) artists and musicians came together to put on a benefit art show and concert to raise money for the Sara Chroussis Memorial Art Scholarship, and the result was a contribution of well over $1,000.

We want to personally thank each and every person who came out, submitted art, played with us (It's Birds, Russian Tombstones, The Resonators, and FOX Japan), or donated to the cause. We want to especially thank the staff at The Blue Moon for letting us host the event at their fine little establishment. It was an incredible night.

Here are some photos taken by our good friend Melissa Rogers at the event:

In case you hadn't heard yet, we are releasing a split CD with Huntington, WV's Bud Carroll & The Southern Souls. The CD will feature two exclusive tracks from each band that are previously unreleased. West Virginia's own Caustic Eye Productions is the brains behind the operation, and we want to thank Rod for all of his hard work.

You can read an article about the split that WVRockscene recently did right here: http://wvrockscene.blogspot.com/2009/02/lanham-ated-demon-beat-bud-carroll.html

This is an extremely limited run, and will only be available at tonight's show at Stonewall's Pub in Shepherdstown, WV and again in two weeks on March 14th at Shamrock's Pub in Huntington, WV. Make sure you get to at least one of these shows to insure that you can get your very own copy!

We are really happy with our two tracks and want to thank Brian Spragg (virb.com/brianspragg) for being such a great engineer to work with.

Hope to see you tonight and/or in a couple weeks.

P.S. - We will also be playing with Bud Carroll & The Southern Souls next Saturday, March 7th at The Smiling Skull in Athens, OH.

Well the new year is upon us and things are certainly getting busy for The Demon Beat. We are adding new shows every day, so keep checking back to see if we're coming to your town.

As for some of the shows coming up, you can now pre-order tickets for the showcase we are playing at the V Club in Huntington, WV. Tickets will be $8 at the door, but if you go to this link you can secure your spot for only $5. Isn't that nice? Here's the link: Pre-Order Tickets

Also, you may have noticed that we are hitting up the Big Apple at the end of the month. We are pretty excited about it, and there are some cool things happening. For one, we have been invited to play an exclusive in-studio performance for Break Thru Radio in NYC. We're not exactly sure if this will be live or available afterwards, but we will definitely keep you posted.

The show on Feb. 1st at Arlene's Grocery will also be recorded, but it WILL be available for live streaming via this site: Musikville

All you have to do is register (takes a couple seconds) and then go back to the site on the night of the show and you can stream our performance live!

There are also a lot of other cool things happening, including a couple dates with the talented Bud Carroll & The Southern Souls from Huntington. And don't forget that you can still order our new EP as well as t-shirts right here on our page.

Thanks for being so nice.

Love,
The Demon Beat

Hey there ladies and gents,

We survived our little tour of the Mountain State, and we are very grateful to everyone who came out and showed us some love on the road!

We've got some big shows in the works right now, including a visit to Huntington, WV's V Club on January 24th to play a huge showcase for the Herald-Dispatch.

Also, be sure to check out Mike Sizemore's nice review of our new EP. You can check it out right HERE!
Be sure to leave him some comments and let him know that he's doing an excellent job!

That's all for now, keep checking back for new dates!

We've recently decided that we would like for everybody who wants to hear our band to be able to conveniently do so. That being said, you can now download 2007's "HEAVYNASTY" and our current self-titled EP for FREE.

All you have to do is go to our VIRB page

It's all right there.

QUICK NOTE BEFORE YOU LISTEN: The last two tracks on the new EP ("Get Outta My Head" and "The Shakes" respectively) were edited with listening to the whole record at once in mind. This means that as stand alone listens or "singles" they are edited kind of weird. We hope you listen to the whole thing at once the way it was intended.

We are going to start work on a new full-length very soon that we are doing entirely on our own. So download the old stuff now, come out to some of our awesome shows we have lined up, and prepare for our best release yet.
