O'Keeffes launched the inaugural Comedy for Kids festival with comedian Karl Spain at Hearns Hotel.  The comedy festival for kids from 5 years upwards will take play at Hearn's Hotel from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd November.

This is the first year of the Comedy for Kids festival and
Fergal O'Keeffe, the festival organiser at the launched stated "Children's comedy is a great way to introduce your children to theatre and most importantly its laugh out loud funny. Kids of all ages from 5 to 105 will love it!".

The play this year is Patrick Monahan's children's play "Stories and Fables for Kids that like to Sit at Tables" and is direct from a sell out run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The play is new stories and fables never heard before, told by a 467 year old storyteller from the Middle-East who looks and sounds a lot like UK stand up comedian Patrick Monahan.  Patrick Monahan is a famous stand up UK comedian and his recent sell outrun at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival was the toast of children's program with 4 and 5 star reviews.

A trend over the last few years in Edinburgh has been top stand ups like Adam Hills and David O'Doherty doing stand up for children. Patrick, who is a geordie of Irish and Iranian decent, has taken this trend and went one further writing and starring in this brilliant play that both children and their parents will love.

"Beat 102103 is delighted to be sponsoring the Comedy for Kids Festival at Hearn's Hotel.  We are really excited about this year's inaugural kids festival. This is a great addition to the festivals of the south east for all the family", said said Tipperary native Gabrielle Cummins, CEO of Beat 102 103.

Patrick Monahan has had a meteoric rise up the stand up comedy ladder. He has gone from open spot to headliner in an incredibly short length of time and is now a regular MC and headline stand up performer at the top London and UK comedy clubs including the prestigious Jongleurs circuit and the Comedy Store. In addition Patrick is now hugely in demand in front of camera as well as a TV warm up comedian due to his lovability and clean funny material.  He does the weekly warm up for The Paul O'Grady Show and The Jonathan Ross show.

The play will take place on Friday 20th November 4.00pm, Saturday 21st November 3.00pm and Sunday 22nd November 2.00pm. All tickets cost €5 for children and adults. Tickets can be purchased on www.clonmelcomedy.com and by calling the Hearns Hotel box office at 052 61216111.

Current mood:  chipper

O'Keeffe's are proud to announce the launch of Clonmel's first Comedy Festival which will run from the 22nd to the 24th of November. This promises to be a brilliant weekend with the cream of Ireland's comedy talent performing over three fun filled nights in November.

The O'Keeffe's Comedy festival promises to be action packed, fun filled weekend from start to finish with an All-Star cast including Neil Delamere, Maeve Higgins, David O'Doherty, Jason Byrne and the best of Ireland's upcoming comedy talent.

The O'Keeffe's Comedy Festival kicks off with a unique "double bill" of Maeve Higgins and David O'Doherty on Thursday, November 22nd . Maeve is best known from RTE's Naked camera and the Ray Darcy show but it's on the live stage where Maeve really excels. According to The Irish Times, "she is the brightest Irish comedic talent to emerge in the last few years. Well worth a look".

The double bill includes David O'Doherty who will be known to many from his recent RTE 2 show "The Adventures of David O'Doherty". Equipped with his trusty keyboard, David offers a unique blend of musical whimsy and a classic, comical take on modern day life. In 1999 he won the Channel 4's 'So You Think You're Funny', runner up in the BBC New Comedy Awards and received a nomination for Perrier Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2000. His most recent show 'David O'Doherty is my name' receiving a nomination for best show.

Neil is one of Ireland's most talented comedians and he is now bringing his "No Message" Tour to Clonmel on Friday, November 23rd to coincide with the launch of his new DVD. Neil first show at O'Keeffe's on Friday November 23rd has already sold out, so Neil has agreed to add another show at 10pm on Friday. There is limited availability for this show as it too is nearly sold out.

O'keeffe's are especially excited about the prospect of mad-cap comedian Jason Byrne and his long standing collaborator John Henderson playing their first show at O'Keeffe's on Saturday, November 24th. Jason's inspired, original brand of high-energy lunacy ensures that there is no other comedian presently like him on the stand-up circuit. His fast, free-wheeling style, fused with an array of offbeat props, make his act a helter-skelter of a show.

The final show "Young, Gifted and Green" is on Saturday, November 24th and promises to be a must see for all lovers of Irish comedy as it's the cream of Ireland's upcoming comedy talent. John Lynn, Jarlath Regan and Colm O'Regan will perform on the night and a guaranteed night of hilarity is promised.
