Wetzikon: Acoustic startet im vollbesetzten Scala
Chamber Soul erste Sieger im Scala

Nach Jahren im Qbus in Uster fand das Acoustic erstmals im Scala in Wetzikon statt. Die Umsiedlung war erfolgreich, das Scala bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt. Erster Scala-Sieger war das Duo Chamber Soul.

Offenbar war die Neugier der musikbegeisterten Menschen gross, ob Acoustic mit seiner sicher ganz besonderen Atmosphäre auch am neuen Ort würde überzeugen können. Und Acoustic konnte! Die zahlreichen Besucher im bis auf den letzten Platz gefüllten Scala waren nach Showende einhellig der Meinung, dass nichts von Acoustics Charme verloren gegangen war. Im Gegenteil, der Anlass überzeugte mit einem perfekt abgemischten Sound und viel Charme auch an seinem neuen Zuhause.

Fulminanter Start
Sarasfaction eröffneten den Abend mit einem fulminanten Start. Die energievolle und stimmgewaltige Sängerin der jungen Ustermer Formation riss das Publikum schon nach den ersten Takten von den Stühlen und heizte dem Publikum mächtig ein. Ear Sin um die talentierte Sängerin Dagmar Loser brachten einen Mix aus englischen und berndeutschen Songs. Mit ihrem selber komponierten und mit viel Herzblut vorgetragenen „Killermüntschi" zeigte die Band ihre grossen Songwriterqalitäten. Wunderschöne, vierstimmige Arrangements waren das Markenzeichen der Zürcher Bright Side. Ihre Eigenkompositionen überzeugten, und Bright Side verstanden es auch, mit viel Humor zwischen den Liedern das Publikum für sich zu gewinnen.
Ein Treffen der Generationen war der Auftritt der Ustermer Band Lite, lagen doch zwischem dem ältesten und dem jüngsten Bandmitglied gegen dreissig Jahre, aber vielleicht war genau das dem ACOUSTIC-Publikum, das sich selber aus allen Altersschichten zusammensetzt, so sympathisch. Eine kraftvolle und überzeugende Leadstimme, vorwärtstreibende Percussion sowie ein von zarter Frauenhand gespieltes Cello ergaben einen satten und dichten Soundteppich.

US-Charme made in Philadelphia
Wenn sich eine begnadete Sängerin und ein Top-Gitarrist nicht nur als Ehepaar gefunden haben sondern auch als musikalisches Paar, heisst das Ergebnis Chamber Soul. Und ihnen gehörten wohl die meisten Zweitstimmen auf den Abstimmungszetteln, was den Zwei schliesslich den Sieg und die EKZ-Siegergage in der Höhe von 1000 Franken einbrachte. Chamber Soul spielen gemäss eigenen Angaben «Kammermusik» der anderen Art. Wunderschöne Soul-Balladen und viel Funk prägten ihren Auftritt und als Sängerin Brandy Butler mit amerikanischem Akzent witzig von Hass und Liebe in ihrem Heimatland erzählte, war es auch in den hintersten Reihen ganz still. Starke Frauen am ACOUSTIC-Wettbewerb
Die ACOUSTIC-Premiere im Wetziker SCALA war geprägt von charismatischen Sängerinnen. Chamber Soul aus Wetzikon haben den Sieg geholt

Wetzikon. – Als das Duo Chamber Soul am Mittwochabend als letzte der fünf teilnehmenden Bands die Bühne des Wetziker SCALA betreten hatte, war der Applaus verhalten. Einen Heimvorteil hatte das Duo aus Zürich jedenfalls nicht. Drei Songs später brandete de Sängerin Brandy Butler und ihrem Gitarristen Roman Hosek tosender Applaus und lautes Gejohle entgegen. Mit einfühlsamem unplugged Soul, ergänzt um eine Prise Jazz, einer guten Portion Funk und geführt von einer ausdrucksstarken Stimme, hatten sie die Herzen der Oberländer ACOUSTIC-Fans im Sturm erobert. Das zahlreich erschienene Publikum wählte Chamber Soul folgerichtig zum Sieger des Abends, und ermöglichte ihnen damit neben dem Preis von 1000 Franken auch die Teilnahme am grossen ACOUSTIC SONG CONTEST im nächsten Jahr. Schon vor dem positiv überraschenden Schlussbouquet wusste der von Uster ins Wetziker SCALA umgezogene Kulturanlass zu überzeugen. Die neue Örtlichkeit verschaffte den nur mit akustischen Instrumenten vorgetragenen Darbietungen genau das richtige Ambiente. Das an Tischen sitzende Publikum, die roten Vorhänge und das dämmrige Licht des grossen Kronleuchters erzeugten eine Stimmung, die stark an die legendären MTV-Unplugged Auftritte von Nirvana oder Pearl Jam erinnerte.

Zahlreiche starke Bands vertreten
Hauptverantwortlich für den gelungenen Abend waren aber in erster Linie die Bands. Nicht nur bei den Siegern setzten dabei stimm- und ausdrucksstarke Frauen die Akzente. So war Sara Radwan in schwarzem Mini, weisser Bluse und rotem Lippenstift weit mehr als ein Blickfang. Begleitet von ihrer aus Uster stammenden Band Sarasfaction eröffnete sie den Abend mit ihrer tiefen, souligen Stimme und rockig-flockigem Sound. Auch die ebenfalls in Uster beheimatete Gruppe Ear Sin konnte sich auf ihre Sängerin Dagmar Loser verlassen. Mit Charme, Schalk und jazziger Begleitung spielte sie neben Covern von Songs von Norah Jones und Katie Melua auch schweizerdeutsche Eigenkompositionen mit Titeln wie „Killermüntschi" im Stil von Polo Hofer.

Publikum machte begeistert mit
Die dritte Band aus den Zürcher Oberland trat als selbst ernanntes Six-Pack auf. Mit Mandoline, Cello, Congas, zwei Gitarren und Gesang forderten LiTe das Publikum zum Feuerzeugschwenken und Mitklatschen auf. Ebenso ungewöhnlich in ihrer Formation waren Bright Side aus Embrach. Äusserlich an eine gestandene Pub-Rockband erinnernd (was sie normalerweise auch sind), weckten ihre vierstimmigen, dahingesäuselten Schnulzen Erinnerungen an Take That oder Phil Collins.

Ins Konzept der grossen Spannbreite an Musikstilen passten auch die witzige und humorvolle Moderation von Organisatorin und Moderatorin Marisa Dux, die gekonnt und charmant durch den Abend führte und die von Walti Dux vorgetragenen „Waltigramme". Mit Gitarre und frechen Witzen wurde jeweils die nächste Band angekündigt. Je nach Geschmack verlieh Dux die zusätzliche fröhliche Note oder aber zog das Ambiente eines musikalisch hochstehenden Unplugged-Abends ein wenig ins Lächerliche. Wetzikon kann zu einem neuen Kulturanlass beglückwünscht werden, der schweizerischen Bands aller Stile und Altersklassen eine stimmungsvolle Bühne bietet.

well after a slight summer break we are back and in full swing. With the addition of our bookers, endorphine entertainment, came the push to make a new album.

We started at the end of august with basically nothing and we now have 7 new songs, four of which i posted our pre-recordings of so you can check out how things are going.

Its an extremely exciting time for us, as we write, arrange, and figure out again(especially with the addition of Rene) what exactly does chamber soul mean and what should it sound like.

There are bookers, and deadlines, and websites, and an album to finish!

We were sort of moving along slowly with the goal of having a new album next year, but in the last two weeks we have had some really exciting developments and now everything is on the go!

The first is the completion of our website. With the money we won from M4Music, we invested it into a really nice website. The website should be up and running by the beginning of June, and you can find it under chambersoul.ch

Secondly we have made the decision to try and press the release of our album slightly forward. We want to have the album completed by the end of the year for a 2009 winter release.

Last and most exciting, is the addition of our bookers Caro and Nick from EndorphinEntertainment. They have been scouting us over the last two months(since M4Music) and last week we sealed the deal. This is a huge triumph for us and we are extremely excited to welcome Caro and Nick to our musical family.

In other news, CdBaby has been doing their job, and now you can download our EP from ITunes(and/or by the Cd from CDBABY.com)

Yesterday Roman and I went to Radio Virus, a swiss Radio station to talk about the group and support our song "Locking me Out." They have chosen our song as "Song of the week," and will play it all week. At the end of the week if they receive a positive response to the song, they will permanently keep the song in their playlist.

Hey everyone....
After much self-torture about whether or not we were doing the right thing, we actually not only won our Pop music Category at the M4Music demotape clinic, we won demotape of the year!

Beyond the money and software prizes that we won(which we are very grateful for) we are really feeling good about our music. It just goes to show you that good music is good music, regardless if it is super produced, compressed, autotuned.......or not.

Chamber Soul has been selected to preview their demo, Chamber Soul EP this year at Zurich's M4Music festival. From over 650 demo tapes, their demo has been chosen and described as "one of the most exciting." Chamber Soul will be competing in the Pop Category on March 7th at Halle 2 im Schiffbau. The clinic will take place at 12 noon. Please come out and support us as we fight for the Grand Prize: 2000CHF and a chance to be on the demotape clinic compilation CD which is passed around to all the major record companies.
