Current mood:  loved
Category: News and Politics

The first time I had ever heard of Barack Obama was one afternoon while I was watching an Oprah show. She was interviewing a black senator from Illinois. I debated erasing the episode from my television as I was not anticipating this guest but was immediately captivated by this senator. I continued to listen as he spoke of hope for this nation and a different kind of politics. He spoke of living in the projects within the community he was helping. I wanted more information so I proceeded to buy and read both of Obama's books. I was further impacted by the selfless nature of his actions, commitment to live among his constituents, and candid openness about who he is. Previously I was a registered republican. In order to ensure I was able to vote for Barack in the presidential primary I changed my party to Democrat. I have become increasingly involved in the political process watching with anticipation as each state holds their primary. Mr. Obama is truly inspiring all of us with his vision for our country. Senator Clinton criticizes Barack for his lofty promises but the man I came to know is willing to set aside his power to live among the poor and practices what he preaches and that is the man I want to be the next president of the United States.
