The launch of our new album hasn't gone as smoothly as we'd hoped (long story), but finally we have added some tracks from Forlorn Hope and Glory to our profile - hope you like them!

Meanwhile, if you want to download our music, we've just signed up with Bandcamp. This means (amongst other perks) that it's completely up to you to decide how much you think the music is worth, and that's precisely what you pay. Here:

So even if you can't spare the cash at the moment, go ahead and download the album anyway - we practically insist! The one thing we ask in return is that you use Bandcamp's "Share" feature to help spread our music far and wide.

Oh, and incidentally, does the new look of our profile get a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down?

For a first listen of the finished version of Dead on My Feet (Again) - track seven on Forlorn Hope and Glory, our upcoming album - you can hear it on the latest NerveCast Show, which you can download from here:

We come on at 7:10, but do listen to the whole show and embrace the independent music scene! Many thanks once again to the great guys at NerveCast for all their support and the great work they do for bands that may otherwise go unheard. You can check out their MySpace profile here:

http://www.myspace.com/nervecastshow

Anyway, that’s four songs from the new album you’ve heard already (the other three, including a free download, are here). You have until the end of August to pre-order Forlorn Hope and Glory at the frankly ludicrous price of only £5, which you can do here:

We've finally completed our new album, and it's just about ready for manufacture. As you may have noticed, there are two new songs on our profile, but here's a handy shareable (hint, hint) widget of them (plus a free download for the good people on our mailing list):

http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/1695765

We're offering the CD at a special introductory pre-order price of just £5 here:

http://www.thehomeguard.info/preorder.html

If you place your order now, then as soon as we've got the final product in our hands, we'll package it and put it in the mail to you straight away.

Tell your friends! Tell the world! Spread these two links across the whole of the Internet!

AMPed in the official podcast of The Association of Music Podcasting, and we've been featured in episode 187 (click to play, right-click and "Save Target As..." to download):

Many thanks to guest host Graham for playing our song, and extra special thanks to our good friend Rodrigo de Sá for submitting it for consideration! You can stay up to date with Rodrigo's own podcast here:

The name Dick Underdog may bring to mind at least three or four cartoon characters rolled into one, but in actual fact it's the pseudonym of a Podcaster from Wakefield. His cleverly-titled "Route for the Underdog" show champions "the best new emerging & unsigned artists", and I think you can guess where this post is heading (click to play, right-click and "Save Target As..." to download):

We're the penultimate act on the show, coming in at around 23:40, but don't skip straight there - have a listen to the other up-and-coming talent and marvel at how superior it is to what gets played on commercial radio! (Even if we do say so ourselves...)

Many thanks to Mr Underdog for playing our song. We urge you to show your support at his MySpace page:

The Home Guard are very proud to be featured on the latest edition (59) of the Cowboy Cantor Podcast, which you can download here:

http://media.libsyn.com/media/cowboycantor/059.mp3

The more observant among you will have noticed by now that the presenter, Rodrigo de Sá, isn't speaking in English. That's because Cowboy Cantor is apparently the only podcast from the Azores islands, and as such is not surprisingly in Portuguese.

Champagne Socialist comes on at 18:28, by the way. Rodrigo might have said something nice about afterwards, but your guess is as good as ours, really.

You can visit Cowboy Cantor on MySpace here:

http://www.myspace.com/cowboycantor

The official blog is here:

http://cbcantor.blogspot.com

We'd like to give an extra special thanks to Rodrigo for asking to play our music - it's people like him that really do more than anyone else for small bands like us. Any way we can reach new listeners is all right by us!

Here's a work-in-progress demo of Nothing Can Stop You Being Mine, track seven on our upcoming new album:

http://www.thehomeguard.info/demos/Nothing_Can_Stop_You_Being_Mine_(Demo)_29-03-09.mp3

Those of you who have been keeping up to date with us will know that we've suffered some really crippling technical difficulties recently, and this song happens to be one of the two at the centre of them (the other being Year Zero). However, I found this test mix from before all that started, so I thought I'd upload it.

The sound is, as such, completely unproduced, and the vocals aren't finalised at this point. The Queen-style guitar solo is also missing for reasons I can't remember, but at least you can get an idea of what we're going for.

Loads more on our official website, if you're interested:

The Nerve Cast is an internet radio station that prides itself on “playing the best unsigned” acts - and we’re delighted to say that they have deemed our song, Champagne Socialist, worthy of their show. We’re on in part three of the 10th March broadcast, around the 9:45 mark:

www.myspace.com/nervecastradioshow

We urge you to visit their MySpace page, add them, and listen to as much on there as you can - I guarantee that you'll discover some great new bands.

Time for a new song! This is a work-in-progress demo mp3 of City and Soke, the penultimate song on our forthcoming album:

http://www.thehomeguard.info/demos/City_and_Soke_(Demo)_17-02-09.mp3

It’s an out-and-out rocker, but with added flute. Although this is the first time we’ve uploaded this song, as you can probably tell, it’s not far off being ready for a proper mix. Your opinions at this stage will be greatly appreciated.

Plenty more demos on our official site, if you're interested:
