Heads up on the solo front...

I'll be locking myself in my house for a solid week working on a new release called Trash. I'm forgoing all forms of communication included e-mail and Facebook, and pretty much living on whiskey and whey protein.

Check out my progress at http://trashsessions.tumblr.com/

Otherwise, I'll not be taking phone calls.

yes, everyone's favorite little known, little bookmarked website will be going the way of the dodo bird and major record labels this week.

i am letting it go to consolidate everything i've got cooking to my new record label Elefant & Haus. the entire catalog will be available there shortly, so fret not (lest ye be fretted).

Hey guys...

I decided to upload all the Mystery Monday tracks into a single file. That way, if you're missing any, well, now you have them all.

I hope you all have an awesome holiday, and I'll resume blog therapy shortly after Chritmuh.

XO...

Big thanks to everyone who came out to yesterday's shows! It was a little rough around the edges and Life Death wasn't quite the 90 piece guitar orchestra I had hoped, but it was 100% fun! Also thanks to Josh at Alternative Concerts for putting on the show, the people at Doc's for catering so well to the bands, A Ceasar Holiday and Rock Plaza Central for being great bands, and lastly but not leastly, our friends onstage, Matt, Matt, Dan, John, Windows Vista and Budweiser Select.

Where do you go from here?

Here are some ideas:

Buy the new record, Ere I Am J.H., if you haven't already. I am working very hard trying to materialize this into a physical format of some kind. Hopefully more on that later... And if you already have the new one, make sure you're up to date on the rest of your Brazil discography.

Become friends with my alter ego: Jonathon Christmas.
He/I/It plans to release a record every year for the rest of his/my/its life, starting now.

Become friends with Aaron's alter ego: Autron.
This is some seriously good staring-at-cracks-in-the-wall music. It will be cool to see where this story arc goes.

Read my Brazil history blog: 500 Days of Night.
It's the musings and ramblings of a homesick, broke and starving musician trying to make it to the top of the avant-pop culture rubbish heap, written show-for-show over the course of seven years. I try to update it every day except Sunday, although I'm not always successful at that pace.
(Disclaimer: The opinions therein are not necessarily representative of the rest of the band. Just lil ol me.)

See you guys soon!

Saturday fastly approacheth!!!

I can't really keep secrets very well, so here's what you can expect this weekend.

We're kicking off our acoustic set with some stuff from Hostage. Eric and I have really cool versions of The Novemberist and The Iconoclast worked up, in our "Songs Starting with The" portion of the set. I might also whip out a snare drum for a little Violent Femmes action on acoustic Io. A snare drum, can you believe it?

We have a couple more things in the pot for that set, but what we're really excited about is....

The late show, where we have guests galore. Joining Eric, Aaron and I (sadly James, Philip and Nic could not make it due to Chronic Having-of-Badly-Timed-Schedules) will most likely be members and ex-members of Everything, Now, The Lions, This Story, Arrah and the Ferns, and our very own engineer, co-producer and owner of Rosebud Studio. Word also has it that Jonathon Christmas will be blessing our hearts with a song or two.

As for Brazil, we'll be doing everything off the new EP, including the sonic clusterfuck that is Subscience... AND

...get this...

if you bring your acoustic guitar, and know the song Life/Death, you are welcome to play it onstage with us. It will be the last song in our set, and we're hoping the stage looks something like this:
