We (KAPTIV) are still on the search for a singer! We have had several people approach us, talk to us, and even try out for us, but we have still not found the right person for us. We don't want to appoint a singer until we know we have EXACTLY the right person for the job!
...That being said, we are still searching high and low for a new singer! We are looking for a person with a STRONG voice and would prefer a higher range singer, but that is by no means required. The ability to scream/sing is a DEFINITE plus but again not required, as we can already scream if need be so singing is the more important element. Charisma and the ability to command the stage/crowd is a must, as we all bring it 110% at every show we play. We are looking for somebody that already has singing equipment (PA, Mic, etc.) with transportation, and reliability is a must. We practice 1-2 nights a week so making practice sessions is a must. No egos, no attitudes. We want someone that not only meets the requirements "on paper" but somebody we can get along with outside the band, we are all brothers in this band and we want someone that we can connect with on that same level. WE ARE OPEN TO EITHER MALE OR FEMALE SINGERS!
To help you guys out, we'll tell you who some of our favorite vocalists are, so you can get a clear idea of what we're looking for here:
Travis Neal/Tommy Cummings (Divine Heresy) Matthew Barlow/Tim Owens (Iced Earth) Stu Block (Into Eternity) Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) Robb Flynn (Machine Head) Mikkel Sandager (Mercenary) Warrel Dane (Nevermore) Tarja Turunen (Nightwish) Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) Kelly Carpenter/Carlos Zema (Outworld) Phil Anselmo (Pantera) Christian Älvestam (Scar Symmetry) Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust) Russel Allen (Symphony X)
We are not saying you have to sound EXACTLY like these guys, but if your vocal style is not similar to the vocalists/bands we listed, you are not what we are looking for.
If you're interested please send us a message, leave us a comment, or just get a hold of us somehow! We will ask if you can record vocals over one of our songs if we e-mail it to you, or if you would be able to come to a practice and audition live. We hope to hear from you guys soon, and to catch you at the next show! Keep it metal!

Kaptiv is going to be taking some down time to write some new stuff, and we are looking to write a new metally. We would like to know what you want to here. Just make sure it's metal (NO GAY BANDS) or cool classic rock (NO BON JOVI), or Prog. The reason we are doing this is because we like a lot of "underground" artists, and we want to know who you guys like. There aren't to many bands we haven't heard of, and there aren't to many that we don't regularly rock out to. Let us know what you think.
Keep it metal, Kaptiv

BULLETIN FROM KAPTIV GO TO: www.myspace.com/wearekaptivKaptiv is continually getting stronger, we are writing better, playing better, and we are making friends with all you badass local bands, BUT WE STILL DON'T HAVE A SINGER. So if you wanna sing for us, then let us know. We might not necessarily like your style of vocals with our stuff, but we need to try something to get the ball rolling. Male, Female, Death Metal, Power Metal, you name it, we want it. We would like to have a few different people sing for us so we can here our songs with vocals. Now please understand that we aren't just gonna let you jump up on stage and go hogwild. We would like to be able to practice with you, or at least have you sing to our recordings to make sure that you are ready to hit the stage. There are some badass singers in Colorado, and we are asking for your help. If you want more info then feel free to hit us up on MySpace. Who knows, this could be the start of something beautiful. Keep it metal, Kaptiv

Kaptiv is looking for a singer to complete our band. We play Progressive Metal with a classic flavor, and we have a great stage presence with strong musical ability, and are looking for someone who shares common influences and interests. Must be serious about working toward perfection, must live in the Colorado Springs area, must have your own singing gear, must have your own transportation, must be 18+ (21+ preferred), and have a VERY STRONG stage presence! As far as what we're looking for in a singer, we are looking for a powerful singer with a killer set of pipes that has a lot of charisma (knows how to work a crowd).
We now have songs from our demo posted on our myspace page:
KAPTIV (NEEDS A SINGER!) - Myspace
so go check those out and take a listen to what we sound like! If you or someone you know has a great voice, please send KAPTIV a message! You can e-mail me at drache713@hotmail.com or send us a message on our Myspace page:

First off, thank you to everyone that has showed up to support us, EVERYONE.
We have finally finished a demo of one of our songs. Why did it take so long? We all go to school full time, we all work full time (close to it), and we all hate EMO KIDS. This recording was done on Pro Tools and was completed in about a month. The drums are actually Drum Kit From Hell, but Ealz programmed them to do exactly what he does in real life. John and Legz each recorded there parts, 2 tracks each, and Dave wrapped it up with the thundering bass.
Now that you have the technical bullshit let us tell you about the song itself. We are all heavily influenced by alot of the same bands. One of those major influences was a little band by the name of Pantera, you may have heard of them. We set out to write a song not only in tribute to Dimebag, but in tribute to Pantera, except Phil, fuck Phil. Don't get us wrong he's a badass singer, but he's a cock.
Once we decided that we were going to undertake this task, we just began writing shit that we thought sound like Pantera. The drums are heavily rooted in Vinnie Paul's style, and the rhythmetic fury of Dimebag was brought forth in our guitars. Now the whole song doesn't sound exactly like Pantera, but we didn't want it to necessarily. The three main songs of influence were Domination, Fucking Hostile, and Mouth for War. The song title came from the song 'Domination', "First take like a motherfucker."
Now that that has been said we would like to say that we won't blog about all of our songs, and there's a good possiblity that this may be the last blog we ever do, but we wanted to get the message out about this song.
RIP Dimebag
