Yall we are going to JAPAN! in six days. Japanese record label P-VINE has very graciously agreed to release our new record and thus we are going to thank them in person. We will also be playing shows with Superchunk and our dear friend Simone White. Also we will eat so many things we do not immediately recognize and we will ride on very fast trains and we are going to try very hard to sleep standing up.
if you are in Japan or will be passing through, might you consider joining us for an evening, or seven. that is how long we will be there.

YALL
To help raise money for CASH, an organization that benefits musicians and music organizations, I am offering a songwriting telegram service. All you have to donate to enter the raffle, and then win, and then i will write and record a song for whoever you want, as long as you have something nice to say to them. also check out what other bands are doing, maybe their offerings will better suit you.
COME ON and thanks

Friends: Today is Blog Action Day, even more than normal. Here at this Oxfam page I have leapt at the chance to explain why working with Oxfam America is important to me, and a bit of how this organization is fighting climate change and its devastating affect on real live people punch for punch. Please read if you get a minute, as this is much more important than anything else I blog about.
thank you, and may you not get caught in a flash flood.

Friends, real and otherwise:
We are proud and pleased to announce the upcoming release of our new record Know Better Learn Faster-- out Oct. 13th on Kill Rock Stars. To celebrate, we are going on tour. Please see show dates; we are thrilled at the prospect of seeing you again or for the first time. On this record, we clapped, sang, shouted, laughed, danced, played instruments, and i cried just a little bit, for texture.
We hope you like it more than you don't like it.
Joining us across the country and even some of canada will be The Portland Cello Project and David Shultz and The Skyline. We are a little bit older and a little bit different but the same amount of very excited to see you in your town, among your people.
all the best,
thao, adam and willis

Yesterday a record was released by the Portland Cello Project titled The Thao and Justin Power Session. Justin Power is a songwriter in Portland. He has some songs on there as well. He is really great. He is also, just for the sake of the album title, my husband.
As wife, i contributed four previously recorded songs and re-recorded them with the ever impressive and beautiful sounding ensemble. Together (willis included) we revisited Violet, Tally Marks, Beat (Health, Life and Fire) and Geography. The arrangements are so fantastic, you might think the songs sound better with an ocean of cellos and you might compare them in your mind to our other versions without any cellos and then you might be polite and say you like both, they are just different. we thank you in advance for your diplomacy.
Also included are beautiful cello-only pieces.
we'll be playing in seattle (Triple Door) tomorrow and Portland (Aladdin Theater) the next night in support of the release.
NORTHBEST why don't you come on too.
