Oracle 7 marine chronometer
A marine chronometer is a timekeeper precise enough to be used as a portable time standard; it can therefore be used to determine longitude by means of celestial navigation. When first developed in the eighteenth century it was a major technical achievement, as accurate knowledge of the time over a long sea voyage is necessary for navigation without electronic or communications aids. The first true chronometer was the life work of one man, John Harrison, spanning 31 years of persistent trial and error that revolutionized naval (and later aerial) navigation as the Age of Discovery.

Oracle 5 Radar Navigation
Operational Radar and "Chain Home" Although television and radar serve different purposes, there is a lot of overlap between the two technologies. The detection of large objects by reflected radio waves was first documented in 1904 when Christian Hulsmeyer of Germany had used a spark gap pulsed transmitter to detect ships located several miles away, although he never managed to measure their range. By the early 1930s, much better results were being reported on the reflection of radio waves by moving objects, by organisations such as the U.S.Naval Research Laboratory in Washington and the Telefunken company in Germany. These reports were buried in the patent literature and technical journals; they did not grab the attention of the general public in the same way as television. Nor were governments much interested in radar from an operational point of view, until 1935. In that year, Britain was the first country to start developing radar operationally. A wall of secrecy surrounded the Chain Home project and the radar research station. Although the British public was unaware of radar, there were a few gaps in the wall of secrecy. Awareness of radar and its crucial role in World War II only reached the general public in 1945, as victory was achieved.

Oracle 4 Radio navigation.
The first system of radio navigation was the Radio Direction Finder, or RDF. By tuning in a radio station and then using a directional antenna to find the direction to the broadcasting antenna, radio sources replaced the stars and planets of celestial navigation with a system that could be used in all weather and times of day. By using triangulation, two such measurements can be plotted on a map where their intersection is the position. Commercial AM radio stations can be used for this task due to their long range and high power, but strings of low-power radio beacons were also set up specifically for this task. Early systems used a loop antenna that was rotated by hand to find the angle to the signal, while modern systems use a much more directional solenoid that is rotated rapidly by a motor, with electronics calculating the angle. These later systems were also called Automatic Direction Finders, or ADF.

Oracle 3 Celestial navigation Also known as astronavigation, is a position fixing technique that was devised to help sailors cross the featureless oceans without having to rely on dead reckoning to enable them to strike land. Celestial navigation uses angular measurements (sights) between common celestial objects or to the horizon.

THC Travellers Guide;
The Quest into the
StEpPiNgStOnE AgE Oracle 1 + DR positioning! This information is about determination of position and direction on or above the surface of the earth.
Navigation is the process of reading, and controlling the movement of a craft or vehicle from one place to another.
[1] It is also the term of art used for the specialized knowledge used by navigators to perform navigation tasks.
The word navigate is derived from the Latin "navigare", meaning "to sail".
[1] All navigational techniques involve locating the navigator's position compared to known locations or patterns.

"Now then show your ticket, child!" said the guard, looking angrily at Alice. "I'm afraid I haven't got one," Alice said in a frightened tone: "There wasn't a ticket-office where I came from." All this time the guard was looking at her, first through a telescope, then through a microscope, and then through an opera-glass. At last he said, "Your'e travelling the wrong way," and shut up the window and went away.
Quest into the Steppingstoneage The new album will be sometime in the making. Our journey to you is taking longer than we thought, as with all good things that come to those that wait, we will be harvesting the crops this equinox however your trip across the threshold is not yet due. We hope to see you all at our live events, where you can see and & hear a glimpse from the quest's chest. 2010 will be our time to travel!
Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end? "I wonder how many miles I've fallen by this time?" Alice said aloud. "I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. Let me see: that would be four thousand miles down, I think-" (for, you see, Alice had learnt several things of this sort in her lessons in the school-room, and though this was not a very good opportunity for showing off her knowledge, as there was no one to listen to her, still it was good practice to say it over) "-- yes that's about the right distance -- but then I wonder what Latitude or Longitude I've got to?" (Alice had not the slightest idea what Latitude was, or Longitude either, but she thought they were nice grand words to say.)

On behalf of all The Higher Craft Alice writes:
The Journey to Montsale turnt out to be easier than anticipated. After reaching Southminster, a quant village idle literally on the edge of the earth, we were greeted by David from HB. After much communication on-line & by telephone we finally met in person... & what a great positive person he is :) Also cooped up in a convoy was a large matt black transit van with two Oktalogues inside. After final directions from David towards the venue we set off once again on the corkscrew path into the remote Essex countryside. As we passed the matt black van Alice gestured a peace sign with her hand to the golden haired germans who responded back as such. The path (one single rd on a flat plateau) surrounded either side by fields of hay rolls as far as the eye could see, lead us onto Montsale. We landed after another 10 mins of tranquil countryside driving thru what can only be described as a very magical location. Passing nothing but tractors and acres and acres of hay bails, some round, some oblong, which reminded Alice of when she was small and her definition of them thus! "They look like giant weetabix"..... We had arrived, the weather was perfect, a truly beautiful warm sunny day with clear blue skies.
Our german friends were already taking full advantage of the wonderful location, and were seated upon the grass in the studios gardens re-stringing their guitars and chilling with a smoke and English cider. Growing all around the gardens were fruit trees, plums, pears, apples as large and red as a wallop on the head from timmy mallet? (i'm still half asleep as I write this,so please forgive the analogy..) and goosey gander by the pond side looking ornament like but letting us know he was real by a bout of banter and a face off with Christina.
After our introductions we all gathered and enjoyed the surroundings and began to get to know each other. Zaphire Oklalogue a 4 piece psych stoner rock outfit from Germany we're a cool bunch of people and the bonding began.
David worked his socks off to get things together for this gig and in our opinion it was A HUGE SUCCESS FOR ALL (Despite a low turn out).
Time was drawing close to show time and the guest's began arriving, the stage was set, props and costumes in place, we were ready to begin "TIME HAD COME"
We played a 45 minute set consisting of Magic Box tracks and 4 new songs from our forthcoming album.
The sound was good and the liquid lightshow gave a rich organic flow to the set. Craig, Chaz and J.D. all in fine form let expel the power in their touch and the music was flying, Alice felt completely at home (as usual) up on the stage and gave out insights into madness in-between each trk. The audience of course were bemused.
Next up were Hoffman's Bicycle. Christian & Bob on guitars, placed low stools besides the guru that is David. Adorned with his tunic and beads David sat centre stage hooker one side of him incense burner on the other. His tabla playing giving an eastern strong hold to the guitar riffs and psyched out journey. A very impressive set & unique transition for both bands to sit amongst. Hoffmans Bicycle we have no doubt will also delight a festival crowd with their spiritual cosmic mynd trip.
After several tokes from the green ganja gardens it was time for Zaphire Oktalogue. The boys hit us hard and deep and took us on a higher plane we were not anticipating. This young band have promise to greatness and we're very happy to have been able to experience this band in such intimate detail. The after show party was awesome nature decided to thrill us with countless meteorites that showered across the sky. We were beginning to run out of wishes as so many falling stars danced across the perfect blackness of the sky. Galaxies and the milkyway in abundance could be seen and the silhouette from the studio lights formed shadows upon the hay bails which transformed into what looked like standing stones upon the land, what a sight!
We had a PERFECT time, and we would like to thank you all for your kindness and open friendly welcome.
Let's do it again real soon.

Chapter 8 - ..It's my own Invention'
After a while the noise seemed gradually to die away, till all was dead silence, and Alice lifted up her head in some alarm. There was no one to be seen, and her first thought was that she must have been dreaming about the Lion and the Unicorn and those still lying at her feet, on which she had tried to cut the plum- cake, ..So I wasn't dreaming, after all,' she said to herself, ..unless -- unless we're all part of the same dream. Only I do hope it's my dream, and not the Red King's! I don't like belonging to another person's dream,' she went on in a rather complaining tone: ..I've a great mind to go and wake him, and see what happens!' At this moment her thoughts were interrupted by a loud shouting of ..Ahoy! Ahoy! Check! and a Knight dressed in crimson armour, came galloping down upon her, brandishing a great club. Just as he reached her, the horse stopped suddenly: ..You're my prisoner!' the Knight cried, as he tumbled off his horse. Startled as she was, Alice was more frightened for him than for herself at the moment, and watched him with some anxiety as he mounted again. As soon as he was comfortably in the saddle, he began once more ..You're my -- ' but here another voice broke in ..Ahoy! Ahoy! Check!' and Alice looked round in some surprise for the new enemy. This time it was a White Knight. He drew up at Alice's side, and tumbled off his horse just as the Red Knight had done: then he got on again, and the two Knights sat and looked at each other for some time without speaking. Alice looked from one to the other in some bewilderment. ..She's my prisoner, you know!' the Red Knight said at last. ..Yes, but then I came and rescued her!' the White Knight replied. ..Well, we must fight for her, then,' said the Red Knight.
..
