As part of Simple Gestures' commitment to youth empowerment and social change, I've decided to endorse Eric Bidwell for San Diego Mayor. Eric is in touch with the new and true spirit of San Diego -- a city that is open minded, environmentally-conscious and believes in the power of grassroots community action. His appearance, his background and his political ideas are unconventional at a time when convention has led us to govern:mental stagnation.

In the larger picture, Eric Bidwell's story is important for everyone who is politically disengaged but who holds strong feelings about the direction of our society. He calls on us to translate those dormant feelings into real thoughts and actions, regardless of age or background. If we heed his call we will find that "We are the ones we've been waiting for."
