The Slackers want to thank everybody that came out to the first SLACKERS' SOUNDS party in Brooklyn, Saturday night. The idea was to have a night where we could play music that we're into that isn't necessarily ska related and where we could hang out with the people without the stress of a high profile gig. If you missed it, you blew it. Vic did 2 killer sets of solo material plus a great version of The Slackers', "AND I WONDER". Dave Hillyard sat in for some tunes including a rendition of "NEVER GO BACK HOME"; a tune Vic penned for The Stubborn All-Stars almost a decade ago. There's some photos up on www.myspace.com/theslackers, "Slackers' Sounds" Album. To check out more of Vic's solo stuff go to: www.myspace.com/vicruggiero
Glen Pine and Dave Hillyard took over the DJ controls for a while and spun some classic and rare 45's. I was psyched to play some Afro-Beat, Indian-Funk, Tropicalia and Psychadelic stuff I rarely get to break out. Of course there was some Ska, Dub and Soul thrown in for good measure. www.myspace.com/crazybaldheadband
We also saw a great set by Brooklyn garage-rockers, MIGHTY FINE. They went over big and I'm sure we'll be playing with them again. www.myspace.com/mightyfine
Special thanks to Lee from Dead Flowers Production who set up the night and totally believed in the idea when I first pitched it to him. www.myspace.com/DeadFlowersProductions
And, of course, we wanna thank the crew at SOUTHPAW in Brooklyn (125 5th Ave. @ Sterling, Park Slope) for having us. Please support local NYC venues. www.spsounds.com
The next SLACKERS' SOUNDS should be sometime in September. If you made it out, be sure to tell your friends; if your friends were there, get some new friends. Thanks again-Agent Jay

Thanks to everyone who made this last run in England and Scotland a real blast.
Sean and the Pama Int'l blokes were wicked. Their soundman, Marcos, from Sao Paolo, dubbed them out live, which was awesome, and helped us out a lot.
It was an honor performing with Lynval Golding of The Specials. Those of you at the Bristol and London shows got to see Lynval sitting-in with us for "Pressure Drop/Don't Forget The Streets". ...A rare treat for everybody. ...Us included!
Big Up to The Pietasters! Most fun band to tour with ...EVER! They've been doing this years and years but they still have fun on the road like they're kids on their first tour. Us Slackers can be old fogeys on the road who just want to retreat into our own little bubbles and not have anyone bother us. The Pie-guys made us hang out and have a good time. They turned, what would have been, some long uncomfortable van rides into loud, drunken parties-on-wheels. You guys are the best! (I wanna personally apologize to Steve Jackson for giving him AIDS.) Also, I want to especially thank Tobi for his technical assistance.
Thanks to Steve Nevard, the tour manager, who kept the show on the road, dealt with numerous van problems and other random dramas.
Very special thanks to Nicki, our driver/merch-person/handles anything/doesn't need sleep/doesn't take shit from anyone/totally professional road-dog. You are an honorary Slacker.
And, of course, ultimate thanks to all of you who came out to see us. So many of the gigs felt like hometown shows because we had so many friend there that we've known for years or brand-new friends that made us feel at home. You're the reason we do this.
Thanks again-Agent Jay

Thanks to our loyal fans we've been able to move up to larger and larger venues in New York. Because of this, though, we can only play in town a couple of times a year. In an effort to build a continuous scene we've started a party called "SLACKERS' SOUNDS".
The first SLACKERS' SOUNDS will be on Saturday, July 19th at Southpaw in Brooklyn. We'll be DJing music from different genres that have influenced our sound; plus there will be live music by Vic Ruggiero and, Brooklyn's own, Mighty Fine.
More info can be found at www.spsounds.com or www.deadflowers66.com
Hope to see you all there...-Agent Jay

Hi everyone,
we are happy to announce that once again we will have slackfest this year.
June 7th at Irving Plaza.
This will be the 3rd year we’ve done this I think.
The concept of Slackfest is to get the Slackers performing with some of our favorite bands.
This year we have confirmed the Pietasters, DC’s soul/ska legends, and Eli "Paperboy" Reed, an up and coming soul singer from Boston.
This is gonna be 3-4 hours of amazing live music!
for tickets go to,
