you need friend first of all someone you know you can share your deepest darkest moments and secrets with. also be comfortable being alone together sharing each others bodies in ways you would not any other womens body and share the love between the two deeply, you would certainly be able to tell if she would be the one becuase you would be so head over heals you would want her by you always your heart would feel empty without her, I dont if you have been in love befor.

well i myself who is married to a drummer, i would have to say, she would need to accept what u do, follow you to your show's, have trust, respect, know that women will be after you, but like mine we come home together. if the love is strong nothing will ever get in the way.

you shouldnt have to ask anybone whatto look for, when you find that person you just know, i know it sounds korny but its true, the first time i saw my husband he was dating someone else but part of me somehow just knew i was going to spend the rest of my life with him, a year later we were dating, 2 years after we started dating we were married, your heart will tell you when you find her

i can beleive what you say, some people just dont respect that a great relationship is just great without others putting their face into it,and respect that the person they are trying too get,is already taken, and go fishing elsewhere

It's hard to be a "musician's girl." Your woman should be secure enough with herself to be able to deal with all the chicks that hit on you at gigs, trust you enough to know it's "part of the business" and know it's her you're coming home to each night. She should support your music career & not resent it. But this respect, support & trust should be mutual.

ok... to the few that might might read this...( out of the 12,000 + friends i have on myspace it seems there is only about 5 that read my blogs) i offer a question that is in dire need of an answer.

what happened to rock 'n roll. it seems that the genre that set America free has been lost to the tune of shooting cops and giving 'ho's' a ride on a private G5. what happened to the band that wrote music, busted their balls to tour and play 'their' music and people giving a crap about what they have to say...

you know if i wanted to be a millionaire i could easily write a hip hop song about how i want to 'have 81 one carrot stones in my necklace'. do i have jewelry that is worth that much.... NO... i wear a necklace that was givin to me by a good friend. i don't do bling.... my band doesn't do 'bling' we write and play music that we feel. that is real...

gettin' real sick and tired of how the industry has turned in the direction of the quick 'buck'. and be rest assured you'll be hearing about it on my next record which will be out sometime in the spring.

enough said..

ben robinson

P.S.
in no way do i condone the act of referring to women as 'ho's'... i think that the female is something in this world that deserves the most respect over anything
August 22, 2009 - Saturday
its august 22nd, 2009.  ive been on the road for four months.  loving every minute of it. doing what i do best, playing my guitar, playing MY songs....  doing what I want to do....

i think that is important...  sometimes i get so fed up listening to people tell me about how they are doing certain things with their lives.  and it doesn't seem like they are doing it because they want to...

for everyone that has purchased our new record, i thank you.. you guys are the ones who are supporting my dreams that i have...

this blog is a salute for those who won't take NO for an answer!!!!  this blog is for those who know what they want out of life and wont settle for anything less... this blog is for those of you out there that think just like i do...  SETTLE FOR NOTHING!!  I have made it a point not to write or produce music that doesn't have a message that is real.  the single off of my new album, 'Heart of Stone' for example.... that song is very close to ME..  that is a REAL song  about TRUE events that happened in my life as well as many other peoples lives.  i would like to hope that everyone that listens to my music can take my songs and apply them to a circumstance that they might have gone through, or are currently going through.  that to me is important.  that is what i want.

i dont care about being a star...  i dont need my picture on the tabloid covers....  i want to touch people with the gift that i was given...   i want to continue to write music that touches people's lives..... that is what i want...

for everyone who reads this, i look forward to meeting you at a show someday... for those of you that have attended a show this year know... i'm the last person to leave....  i talk to everyone....  because at the end of the day if it weren't for you i would not be doing this.

moral of the story... take nothing for granted and never take NO as an answer...

much love,

Ben Robinson

Ben Robinson Band to perform Friday in Sebastian

The Ben Robinson Band will perform rock, blues and indie. Robinson has performed on regional and national stages including the “Late Show with David Letterman.”
Mad Dogs, Paul’s Port-A-Pit and Sunside Fun will be selling food and refreshments and the Lions Club will be selling popcorn. During intermission, the crowd will have a chance to win giveaways from the local business community.
Bring a lawn chair and blanket, and enjoy the local talent and river breezes! For more information, call (772) 589-5969.
This event is sponsored by the City of Sebastian, the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce, Melbourne International Airport and RBC Bank.
June 17, 2009 - Wednesday

Bill Valyo: 'Light Up Your Grill Night'

The Sebastian Chamber of Commerce has a winner in it’s Light Up Night event presented every year, and now it’s sponsoring a new program for the summertime called “Light Up Your Grill Night” to encourage community spirit in the dog days of summer.
Although it won’t take place until Friday, Aug. 7, the project will be a big one and businesses are urged to sign up now to get into the fun.
As with Light Up Night, members of the community will be invited to visit local businesses and enjoy free food, beverages, prizes, giveaways and coupons.
There will even be a contest for the best watermelon, whether it’s grown and presented, carved in a sculpture to cakes shaped from the juicy fruit. There will be a list of participating retailers published here in the column. Entry forms are available at the Chamber office or you can e-mail them at info@sebastianchamber.com. There is a $25 fee for advertising costs and materials.
Members of the Chamber will enjoy a get together Thursday, June 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Inlet Wines 13401 U.S. 1, Riverwalk Plaza. Members of the active organization meet once a month at various member businesses in the area.
It was National Tourism month last month, and if you think that the business of getting tourists to visit this area is not important then you will have to notice the figures. According to figures released by the local Chamber, there were 82.5 million visitors that came to Florida in 1998; and more than 1 million Floridians are employed because of tourism. The payroll generated is 13.3 billion and the sales tax is close to 4 billion dollars.
Now that’s important.
Here is another important project that our Chamber is involved in..the extension of the Scenic Highway that will include a 27-mile loop which would encompass Fellsmere.
Called the AIA Scenic and Coastal Byway, it is an adventure of travel which explores wildlife refuges seashores, historic districts, and even the intricacies of the NASA Space Program along the Indian River Lagoon. You will find yourself in the most biologically diverse estuary in North America.
The Lagoon is home to more than 4,000 species of plants and animals and it allows you to visit the McLarty Treasure Museum and it’s many examples of Spanish treasure lost in shipwrecks just off the Florida coast.
A special musical treat comes to the Riverview Park on Friday, June 19, when the Ben Robinson Band will be performing starting at 5:30 p.m. for the popular Concert in the Park series.
Young Ben Robinson brings in a plethora of credits to the old bandstand that evening with bookings on the David Letterman Show, the Donny and Marie Osmond Show and Martin Short’s Show, still ringing with rave reviews. Legendary guitarist Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame, had this to say about Ben, “I have seen a lot of smokin hot blues guitar players in my day, but I ain’t never heard anyone like Ben”.
Ben and his band continues the fine series at the Park, and of course Mad Dogs, Paul’s Port-A -Pit and Sunside Fun will be selling food and refreshments. The local Lions Club will be offering their famous popcorn to munch on.
During intermission, the crowd will have a chance to win giveaways from the local business community. Bring a comfortable lawn chair, a flash light and enjoy listening to Ben and the Band play songs from their album “Heart of Stone”. It will be a great night.
Bill Valyo writes the Sebastian Column every Friday. If you have items you wish to be published please submit them 10 days before the event. You can reach Bill at (772) 770-0598 or on the internet at catcherwjv@bellsouth.net.

..TR> ..TABLE>Teen's case of the blues draws notice

By Eric McKinney
Times-Union staff writer

.. -->special: musicreviews-->Ben Robinson is only 14, but he already has the blues -- and been teased about it by David Letterman in front of a national audience.

Robinson, a Jacksonville native, is a blues guitarist with the licks of someone twice his age, though his parents still make him clean his room. He's buddies with Paul Shaffer, who directs the Nickelodeon House Band on television, for which Robinson plays lead guitar. That led to the invite to play with Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra on The Late Show last fall.

He has his own band as well, the Ben Robinson Band, and a Web site, www.Benrobinson.com, complete with musical excerpts from his first album. It was called I Told You So and was released when he was 13.

Robinson grew up in Jacksonville and Brunswick, Ga., before moving to Southern California a few years ago. He'll be back where he began on Friday, when he'll play at Rafters, a blues club on St. Simons Island. It was the first place he played, when he was still a preteen.

We caught up with him on the West Coast last week.

Question: "How do you have the blues, Ben? Where does it come from?"

Robinson: "I like to be considered a blues musician. It's just a feeling I get when I play it. There's this good feeling and tension at the same time. Anybody who says kids don't have the blues is blind. Kids have all sorts of problems."

Q: "So how do your friends at school react to your music? It's obviously nothing like 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys, and that's the kind of music that has taken over MTV."

Robinson: "Those guys are really talented, but I couldn't play in a group like that. There's not enough raw edge. Some people criticize me at school for not listening to the up and hip bands, but I don't let it get to me. We joke around about it a lot."

Q: "If none of your friends like the blues, how did you get interested in it? It doesn't seem like the sort of thing a kid just decides to try one day."

Robinson: "My dad has a lot of CDs, but half his collection is blues. I just love the way it makes you feel. I love listening to Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King and B.B. King."

Q: "You mentioned your father. How do your parents react to your career? Do they treat you any different?"

Robinson: "No, not really. My mom is always yelling at me to clean my room. They don't look at me as a super guitar guy. This summer me and my dad are probably going to go offshore fishing. I like that a lot."

Q: "I understand you know Paul Shaffer pretty well. He directs the Nickelodeon House Band and you got to sit with him and the CBS Orchestra on The Late Show. What was that like?"

Robinson: "That was a lot of fun. I could go spend a whole day with Paul Shaffer, and that would be cool. He compared me to Van Halen. He says that with my rhythm play alone I could have the crowd jumping just like Van Halen does."

Q: "Do you ever get nervous playing in front of lots of people? It has to feel strange when you're at a bar or night club playing for an audience that is almost twice your age."

Robinson: "I'll be in a place, and they'll be like, 'What's this? He's just a kid.' Then I'll get up on stage, and the image of a kid is just washed away. I'm not treated as a kid when I play. That's what I like best. The more people doubt me, the more I want to prove myself."

Q: "You said you do go to school, but how do you balance it with a musical career? Do you have tutors to help with your lessons?"

Robinson: "My parents don't let me stay out too late, and I keep my grades up. As long as I keep them up, it's OK. I only have a tutor when I go on big trips like Nickelodeon and stuff."

Ben Robinson will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Rafters, 315 Mallory St., St. Simons Island, Ga. Tickets are $10 at the door. Info: (912) 634-9755.
