Thanks to our friend Jonathan Rundman, we've got some great pictures from our gig at the 400 Bar last month. If you so desire, you can check them out here. Also, come see us this Thursday at the Club 3 Degrees! It's probably for the best that you're there. Everyone else will be. That boy/girl you like will be there, so you'd better come, too. It's the place to be. Tell them you're there to see us!!

Almost forgot -- One week from tonight, on Thursday, May 17th, Fuller Still will be appearing live at the Club 3 Degrees. No tournament mumbo-jumbo, just good old fashioned folk-rock-and-roll.
Get a big group of friends together, get $7 together, carpool downtown, find a parking spot, and tell them you're there to see Fuller Still!!! Also appearing are our pals Infant and David Olson. Doors open at 7!!

Seriously, though.
We'll be at the 400 Bar this Sunday for an 18+ show. We know that a lot of our fans aren't 18+, but we're hoping that EVERYONE who reads this will spread the word to their adult friends so we'll have a good turnout. For those of you who don't know, the 400 Bar is a Minneapolis institution, and it's our first time playing there -- we're kind of nervous. But the money from the door goes to a local charity, and we're opening for our friend Michael Morris, so we think you'd like it. Spread the the word, and check out our shows below for more details.

Hey friends.
For those of you holding out for some romance from the last single member of Fuller Still, relinquish all hope. On Easter Sunday, Graham Peterson -- drummer, disc golfer, lover -- proposed to his girlfriend Haley, and she said yes!! (Go figure!)
We're happy to congratulate Graham, and officially welcome Haley to the Fuller Still family. Share in our congratulations, won't you?

Hey. Get your behind down to the Club 3 Degrees this Thursday to support Fuller Still in the semi-final round of the local band tournament. We'll be playing early, so no late nights for any of our fans. You may be asking yourself, "Why bother? What's so special about this show?" Well, barring some sort of miracle, we probably won't make it to the final round of the tournament (we're realists here, people). And, as much as we like playing at the 3 Degrees, we're probably not going to do the tournament next year. So, unless they ask us nicely, we're probably NEVER PLAYING AT THE CLUB 3 DEGREES AGAIN. Don't miss what may be your last chance to see Fuller Still play one of the coolest-looking venues in the Twin Cities. Club 3 DegreesThursday, March 22nd Doors open at 7 pm $7 at the door TELL THEM YOU'RE THERE TO SEE FULLER STILL!!

Hey there. We're just cruising along through February here, with a couple of shows coming up in March, including our semi-final appearance in the Club 3 Degrees band tournament on the 22nd. If you don't have details on that already, check out www.club3degrees.com for more info. Please, come! We'd love a big turnout. On March 3rd we've got that U2 lecture/showcase concert that everyone's talking about. More info can be found at www.eclc.org. In other news (specifically law-related news), there's a brand new review of Color and Feeling that's been printed in The Pleader, which is the student newspaper for the Northwestern University School of Law. Justin's cyber-friend Kat is learning there, and she's written an insightful and positive review about the album. The review follows this blog entry, but if you'd like to visit their website, you can find it here. ..>| Fuller Still—Color and Feeling | | | | | by Kat Kunz | | | | |
| | So, chances are you've never heard of these guys, but the members of Fuller Still are working hard to change that. This Minneapolis-based folk-rock quartet released their first full-length album, Color and Feeling,in 2006. The band eschews the "Christian rock" moniker; though they do find lyrical inspiration in their Christian spirituality, they aim to make the kind of music that anyone can enjoy, regardless of religious beliefs. Indeed, a number of their songs paint thoughtful third-person character sketches that draw you subtly into a story, only to have you realize by the end of the song that you've just learned a bit more about acceptance or forgiveness. Not to mention the fact that the music is good enough to entice most fans of singer-songwriter indie rock into listening. Fuller Still's press release likens their sound to that of Nickel Creek or Counting Crows, and while those are certainly apt comparisons, there's also a strong sense of the folk instrumentalism and female harmonies found in early Crash Test Dummies songs (minus Brad Roberts's overpowering bass voice – co-lead singers Josh Brecht and Justin Rimbo dwell more in the baritone/tenor range). Perhaps the band's own "acoustic-powered pop" description would be most appropriate, as many of their songs have a driving energy and exuberance that the more laid-back "folk" genre doesn't quite capture. A couple of tracks stand out as radio-ready: for instance, the immensely catchy "Compared to No One" teams a jangly chorus with bouncy background vocals and a resonating message against being judgmental. "A Little White Noise" is a slow-burner that erupts into a fuzz of guitar and drums, à la Jimmy Eat World. And perhaps the loveliest song on the album, "How," is sung by female vocalist Gail Brecht in a style evocative of modern folk divas like Lucy Kaplansky or Nanci Griffith. Of course, the album isn't perfect, as few first albums are. The pacing seems a little uneven and plods a bit after the first couple of songs, and sometimes the vocals sound a little rough around the edges. But this debut is extremely promising and should help garner Fuller Still the wider audience that their music – and their message – deserves. | ..>

And we're back.
From Kansas. Thanks to everyone down in the Wichita/Kansas/Oklahoma-area for being such great new friends! We had a blaaaaast at the two Wichita youth quakes, and the youths that were there were terrific!! They were having a freak attack!!
Hey, we're approaching our 1,000th MySpace friend. That's a big deal, since we don't really farm friendships -- we usually wait for people to come to us after they've seen us in concert. So we're happy to have so many friends.
Here's some shows coming up soon-like at which you can see us in the Minneapolis area!!
Sunday, February 18th 6:30 pm Amazing Grace -- the Concert Before the Movie Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, MN
We're taking part in a showcase concert with other artists like Swen & Dean and Jonathan Rundman to help celebrate the release of the new movie "Amazing Grace." It's totally free! Check out our calendar for more details.
-------------------------------------------------------- SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd, 7PM No charge for admission: food shelf donation suggested; all ages welcome "Even Better Than The Real Thing" A lecture by Dr. Christian Scharen, with musical guests. Edina Community Lutheran Church 4113 W 54th St Edina, MN 55424 952-926-3808 http://www.eclc.org
Dr. Scharen, author and teacher at Yale Divinity School, is on staff at Yale's Center for Faith & Culture in New Haven, Conn. He is a frequent speaker at events around the country on issues of theology and culture, and has been a commentator regarding the band U2 for USA Today and ABC News' Nightline.
Preceding the lecture, a series of Twin Cities area musicians will each perform a favorite U2 song. Participating artists include:
JONATHAN RUNDMAN: nationally touring pop/rock songwriter whose most recent studio album Public Library (recorded with NYC band The Silos) received rave reviews in City Pages, Pulse, and Mpls St. Paul Magazine, and appeared on year-end Best Of lists in the St. Paul Pioneer Press and City Pages. FULLER STILL: four-piece acoustic pop band whose 2006 debut album Color and Feeling was produced by John Hermanson (Storyhill, the Hopefuls, Alva Star). MICHAEL MORRIS: indie-folk songwriter in the midst of a buzz-generating weekly residency each Tuesday night at the 400 Bar. JOHN KERNS: multi-instrumentalist and band leader who has been a studio and performance fixture in the Twin Cities music scene for a decade. NATE HOUGE & WELAWARE: newly launched garage-folk trio presenting Guthrie-esque social themes over rollicking instrumentation.
------------------------------------------- And on March 22nd, we'll be back at the Club 3 Degrees for the third (and maybe our last) round of the local band tournament. Come and support us!!

There a few ways to know when Fuller Still has a big show coming up. 1. We practice. Seriously. We're such slackers when it comes to actually working on our material. For this impending "tour" we're working on a bunch of contemporary worship songs for Thursday night at our friend Molly's postmoderny, young-adulty church called " Immersion" in West Des Moines. 2. I (Justin) get a small cut under my right eye. I've tried to understand this -- but it happens whenever we've been practicing. Maybe it has something to do with my rock-face. 3. One of us gets sick. Josh is allergic to the crap in the air of hotel rooms, so whenever we do a youth event, he's automatically sick and congested. But sometimes another band member loses his or her ability to fight off disease. This time it's me. Tomorrow we're headed south for two weeks of shows, and guess who came down with strep throat? I'm headed to the doctor's office later today for what I hope will be an efficient diagnosis and prompt prescribing of medicine that will destroy the virus within me. I'm hoping I can kick the thing in a few days (but it's not likely with hectic road-living), and I'm taking today off from work and school to rest up. I'm hoping that, in a few days, I'll be able to give my usual 94%. Speaking of commitment, Graham has dubbed this tour "The Fuller Still Phones It In Tour 2007." We have three coffeeshop shows in Kansas that we're not getting paid anything for, so we joke around a lot about not giving our best performance. But we will. We always do. When crap like this happens, and it seems to stand in the way of our ministry, I start wondering about signs and stuff like that about which I should know better. Like, "Is the devil trying to shut us down?" Or, "Is God sending us a message that we're making a big mistake?" When you're committed to the success of something, It can be so easy to find things that go wrong and then attribute them to being signs from above. But easy's often stupid and rarely wise. Last night we had a seriously devoted band rehearsal (that must mean we're going on tour!) and hung out. Then we met Angie at Sawatdee, a Thai restaurant in Maple Grove. It's pretty spicy for me, but the mango w/ sticky rice is a dessert that will transport your soul. And tomorrow we hit the road. Check out our website or myspace to see where we'll be.
